Schedule was changed and we're playing 2 today at noon and at 4:30.  There will be no game on Saturday and on Sunday the game will start at 1:00.

First game today is in the 5th and we're getting our lunch handed to us with PSU leading 14-3.  Seebold started and was pulled in the 4th after giving up 9 hits and 9 runs.  Of the 9 hits, 2 were doubles and 2 were HRs.  Rushing came in and allowed 4 more runs to score without getting an out.  Kraft now on the mound and has given up a solo HR.  Schuyler has 2 of our 3 hits and driven  in 2 of our 3 runs.

And the pitching has gone completely south again as we do the Dustin Glant drill for a fourth time. Without fail since he has been here, pitching is OK for a couple weeks, then opponents adjust and it falls apart. Than many weeks later Glant finally figures it out and team makes a late push to postseason where they either squeak in or just miss.

I have no doubt this will happen again and season won't be to bad in end. However, at this point given Glant's pedigree its not enough and he needs to be changed out even if the pitching gets much better late in the season as it always does. Todd Yeagley has had this same issue recently but has the pedigree to get it figured out and you know he will and has earned that right given his success.

Glant on the other hand has earned nothing of the sort to be allowed to take half a season or more to figure his pitching out (which he always does) and its to the point where Mercer needs to make a change or Dolson needs to insist he make a change for continued employment. I am not going to panic over this yearly Glant tradition and will let it play out as it always does with minimal complaint. However, this cannot continue for another season even when it inevitably gets fixed by mid to late April.

Also, identical to Mike Woodson era here where he figures things out late for a postseason push. However, that couldn't keep happening in his program and IU has rightfully made a change as a result. Same thing needs to happen with Glant so we don't somewhat waste excellent offensive seasons of future pros just as Woodson has.

Final score in today's first game 15-9.  PSU banged out 13 hits that included 2 doubles and 4 HR.  We finished with 11 hits of our own but left 11 men on base.

Today's second game is in the bottom of the 4th with Hoosiers holding an 8-1 lead.  Grable on the mound and has allowed just 2 hits both singles.  We've got 10 hits thus far.

Well, our record after our weekend B1G opening series is 1-2 as we lose today's game 10-6.

In the weekend finale, we jumped out to an early 2-0 lead but PSU tied it up in the 5th.  They took a 1-run lead in their 6th; we tied it back up in our 7th but PSU picked up 3 more runs off Buhr in its 7th and added 4 more in the 8th.  We did pick up 3 in our 9th from a bases loaded double by Brenczewski but it was too little too late.

We had 11 hits but it was another game we're leaving runners on base - today it was 8.  We were also sloppy in the field with 3 errors.

Gilly started and went 4.1 innings giving up 3 hits and 1 BB.  He was charged with PSU's first 2 runs.  Buhr relieved and was charged with the 3 runs PSU scored in its 7th.  In his 2.2 innings, he only gave up 1 hit but walked 4 batters.  Gubitosi took the mound in the 8th.  He gave up a hit, 3 BB and 3 runs and was pulled for Benes with runners on 2nd and 3rd.  He immediately gave up a double and immediately a second double.  Can't make this stuff up.

We'll be at Indiana State on Tuesday for a 4:00 game and then back to Bloomington for a 3-game weekend home series with Ohio State.

As i have said, we are now at the stage of the season where Glant's pitching has been figured out and for the next month, I would look away from this "crime scene" if you don't want to see IU giving up double-digit runs most days. I would recommend most fans check back in April when Glant inevitably figures this out and team makes a push for the postseason.

Like I said before, IU will need to ask itself if Glant's complicated spin ball program that takes his pitchers half a season to figure out is acceptable to keep continuing with employment at IU. We know what Glant is now and it's that things will be rough till April and then team will figure it out and catch fire and push for postseason. Four seasons of this now without failure.
