IU Baseball vs Belmont - March 15-17, 2024

Recommended Posts

This is a strange scenario of the resistible force and the moveable object when each side takes the field. Most mid majors like Belmont have pretty decent hitting but awful pitching. The Bruins on the other hand are completely the opposite with decent pitching and horrific offense.

Will be interesting to see who wins out between the Hoosier's struggling pitching and Belmont's mediocre at best offense. On the other side the Bruins solid pitching against Indiana's solid offense will matchup. Which ever team's weakness is less weak will rule the weekend.

So far Belmont's struggling offense torching IU's struggling pitching. Moffitt was hurt by an error so the runs are unearned on a two-out home run. However, the Bruins missed a couple home runs by a couple inches and hit a solo shot.

4-1 Bruins after three. Bothwell gave a clean fourth. At this point Hoosiers probably need to start Bothwell and Foley back-to-back Friday and Saturday as two best pitchers so far and hope for six good innings rather than stacking them on same day or bringing Bothwell out of pen.

That would help a lot of the early game issues I think.

Pretty sad when you have to score at least 11 runs to win a game.  Final score a 15-10 Hoosier win.  Foley started and went 5 innings allowing 6 runs on 6 hits; walked 4.  2 of the hits were HR.  Kraft pitched the 4th; Phillips the 5th and Risedorph the final 2.  6 Hoosier batters had 2 hits apiece.  Tibbits, Cerny & Colopy each 3 RBI,

Hoosiers win the series with a 15-7 win today but our pitching staff (5) got touched for 10 hits and our fielding was really sloppy with 4 errors.   Cerny 3 hits; Taylor and Tibbitts 2 each.  Tibbitts and Cerny each 4 RBI.  Phillips started and went 3 innings and gets the win.

Tuesday evening we'll be in Terre Haute to face Indiana State.  B1G season opens next weekend as we host Illinois.
