I was able to read article fine.  It basically says what one would already know to a large extent with observations from the season and thereafter in total.

I do think if IU is going to turn things upward in a large way (T. Moren acknowledges the type of players needed in recruiting).  And Colston Thompson seems to be a major upgrade added to the IU Ladies coaching staff.

Additionally, L. Beaumont is a good player and T. Moren continues to talk about as last season how good she is and importance to the team.  She is definitely important….but are the high expectations grasping for straws or what will become reality?

T. Moren noted the new players were dissatisfied with their previous program.  That could be said for IU Ladies and even coaches as well.

This IU Ladies team seems to be constructed as somewhat a Rag Tag team of players with something and things to prove.  Sometimes Rag Tag just works out.

Fascinating article. This year was a little extreme with so many people leaving at once, but CTM makes it clear that this is the new way, i.e. dealing with agents, having recruits declare what their monetary expectations are, players literally GETTING PAID MONEY TO PLAY! In the old days, it was illegal; now it is the rule. Will high school recruits in the future (and not just portal transfers) all have agents?

Will college basketball "stratify", with the Big Powers going all in on the $20 m., and lower level teams spending way less, or even remaining amateurs with no NIL?

Agents now call coaches first to negotiate salaries.  My hope is that minor sports can still somehow still be funded.  A few small colleges have already dropped some minor sports, and I'm afraid that trend will continue. The NCAA has limited scholarships for the major sports with the theory (hope?) that the "extra" scholarhips will go to minor sports.  Who says those scholarships will go anywhere?  My fear is that college athletics may become strictly professional with just a few sports remaining.

In Indiana, the Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) has updated its transfer rules, allowing student-athletes a one-time transfer to another IHSAA member school and maintain full athletic eligibility, as long as the transfer occurs during their first six semesters of high school. This change, effective June 1, 2025, aims to streamline the transfer process and address concerns about school choice.

Indiana Education applies to athletes only and not the entire student population…..and brings into more questions about high school recruiting (which has already happened in the past whether legal or not)….. will pay for play and or financial perks/benefits (high school NIL) be in its future.

(point is that athletes given preferential treatment vs rest of high school student population…who may have in their own individual minds valid reasons for streamlined transfer to another school).

Also from the article: CTM said she was eager and excited to meet the challenge of putting together this year's team. You would expect that from her and her competitive instincts. It should be an interesting year.

Ragtag team….Interesting to see if T. Moren can become Big Ten Coach of the Year or NCAA National Coach of the Year…..along with staff and players/team development ….That would be a ‘Cinderella Never a Dull Moment story.’
