SPRINGFIELD, Mass.  – Senior forward Amanda Cahill has been named as one of 20 preseason selections to the Cheryl Miller Award. The award, in its inaugural year, recognizes the nation's top small forward in women's college basketball.

Cahill, a 2017-18 All-Big Ten Preseason honoree, returns as the Hoosiers' rebounding leader as she averaged 8.9 boards per contest and second in scoring with 14.8 points per game. She shot 47.7 from the field last season including a team-high 39.3 percent from the 3-point line. In addition, she became the sixth player in school history to record 1,300 points and 800 rebounds and earned All-Big Ten Second Team honors for the second straight season.

The Clyde, Ohio native was also named a 2017 CoSIDA Academic All-American, holding a 3.90 GPA in Elementary education and Academic All-Big Ten.

This list will be narrowed down to 10 in mid-February and then 5 finalists will be selected in March that will be presented to Cheryl Miller and the selection committee. The winner of this award will be presented live at an inaugural awards ceremony hosted by the Basketball Hall of Fame, Women's Basketball Coaches Association, and ESPN at the NCAA Women's Final Four in Columbus, Ohio.
