The Crossroads of Hoosier Hysteria

Recommended Posts

Mark Titus graduated from Logansport HS and rode the bench at Ohio State.  While at OSU he started writing a blog which kickstarted his career as a writer.  This is a really nice piece about what basketball is all about in our state and don't miss the quote from author Kurt Vonnegut.

That is a GREAT read. That is the Indiana I know and grew up in. My high school team got beat by Damon Bailey (yes I still hold a grudge). No I didn't play on the team but I was a loyal fan from elementary school on up. It's what you did on Friday nights. You went to sectionals and were happy to get a seat. I was fortunate to watch a great high school team for my 4 years. Our gym never had a empty seat. What great memories!

As for the underdog comments, they seem fitting after last nights game. While I'm still feeling the pain of that loss, I have to admit that it's kind of cool for those Mastodons. That's a classic game which perfectly fits the history of basketball in Indiana IMO.

Thanks for the post 66!

Our little 2A school goes to the next town over and plays their 4A school every Wednesday before Thanksgiving. Like a 40 year tradition. They always beat us. They had a 30 point lead at halftime tonight. But we bring a couple thousand fans every year just hoping to beat the big school one time. Its a social gathering. Hoosier Hysteria!
