The AD will have to leverage the boosters. Send Cig to help fundraiser. Hey we just won a football title. We want to do the same in basketball. We need your help and here is the plan. They can sell that pretty easy. But football is spending a ton, but I wonder the amount. I’m a Michigan football fan and teams were trying to poach the roster bc of the coaching change. Listening to a podcast yesterday and a beat writer was saying the Michigan roster for next season is approaching $40 million bc they had to pay to keep the young roster together.

I don’t think he has started terrible. This isn’t Archie level bad. He made a tactical mistake not bringing WV players with him. I like Sisley and the freshmen coming next year. If he learned from his mistakes in the roster building this year (over valued his son) among some others, then we can be good as early as next season. None of the first year guys have done anything great this year. Took the Florida coach 3 years, with year 1 not being good.

I don’t think we are making the tournament this year. Still want to win as much as possible. I just think the roster is very limited. Hoping for some recognition and adapting to what it takes to win at a higher level in this conference when they hit the portal this spring. I do like DeVries and think he can get it done. So I’m trying to stay patient.

I looked it up using AI. so yeah who knows. I still maintain they had to fill and entire roster from scratch to establish a style of play. I think this year will be another heavy lift but we have Dorn and Sisley already in the fold plus 2 more freshmen coming in. So there is 4 players already. Go get 5-6 more and call it a day. With the style now established it shouldn’t be as hard. -

My understanding is we are a top 10 NIL program for basketball. Now the argument could be that it wasn’t spent wisely enough. But we are still half of what schools like UK and Duke are spending at $20+ million. But it’s still good enough for a top 10 in NIL. I think how it was spent could be criticized. But I’m willing to give a pass since it’s an entire new roster. We have discussed before in another thread and agree on basic roster building philosophy from a NIL standpoint. Bow that the staff is set and has a base to build off, I think the money will let them get a better roster next year. My biggest issue is I never want to see a starting PG not be able to score in multiple ways again. Sometimes it’s like playing 4 vs 5 on offense. -
Hopefully some serious lessons were learned. I lm a Michigan football fan and get to listen to a lot of crossover talk with their basketball program. Dusty May even said this offseason that he underestimated size/physicality that would be needed to be successful. Hopefully DeVries learns the same lesson and adjusts. I think he can be a good fit here, but he will need to make some changes for sure.
