  1. I really like this hire. I liked the day it was announced and I like it more now. I believe he will do a great job and take us where we want to go. Maybe not year 1 but we will be back to being Indiana again over time. This is actually the first hire since Knight was fired that I’ve been excited about. Sampson is a good coach but didn’t want him due to violations. Obviously Davis was over his head. Crean I was skeptical. I didn’t get the Archie love a lot of people had in that search. I was arguing for other candidates throughout the cycle. Woodson nobody wanted. I gave them all a chance but they all proved to not be the guy.
  2. Maybe not. Texas Tech has deep booster pockets. They just spent a lot on football for next season and they have funds for basketball too. If he leaves Texas Tech it won’t be for NIL reasons. Someone will have to give him an offer he can’t refuse.
  3. I’d be ok with Conwell, DeVries. Tucker. As a 2,3,4. Get a good PG and C and let’s roll.
  4. They were ranked lower just a month or so ago when I looked. So I didn’t pick them to win it all. But their def efficiency has climbed a lot since the last time I looked. So they have stepped up in that last of their game.
  5. Great offensive coach no doubt. Very fun style to watch. I do question the defense at times, but they are up to top 29 def eff on Kenpom.
  6. I think it’s a school by school basis at this point. The GM at Michigan isn’t over the football coach. But the GM will go on recruiting trips to go over all the NIL and financials with the player and family once the recruitment gets serious enough. The GM sets the NIL structure by position and works with the collectives to ensure the amount of funds will be available. Which then allows the head coach to know which players are realistic or not. It also lets them spend more on areas the HC’s system values more. Think OSU at WR and Michigan at RB.
  7. I’ll also add when the games are played doesn’t matter in football. So the NCAA’s own rules contradict themselves from sport to sport. sorry if anyone in here works at the NCAA, but that organization is an absolute joke.
  8. Football will get the most. Then men’s basketball. But I believe the athletic department is going to double the % to men’s basketball in comparison to the Big Ten average. Women’s sports will still get money.
  9. The kid is definitely talented but would make freshman mistakes. If he is willing to put in the work, he would be a nice player to have. The Woodson offensive was terrible and I felt Tucker would press and take unwise shots bc he didn’t know if he would see the ball again for an opportunity.
  10. I think that’s already been announced he is going to Iowa.
  11. Yeah, no issue there. I think IU is actually going to give less to football and shifting it to basketball. Then using NIL to cover any potential need. But the fanbase loves IU men’s basketball as it’s #1 sport. And the athletic department will support it as such. They aren’t taking money out of the pockets of women’s basketball to pay the men. It’s football money.
  12. Kentucky is rumored to be willing to pay that for the Purdue PG. lol. A tweet this week by a guy covering Kentucky said Kentucky's coach has said behind closed doors money will not be a limiting factor in getting Smith from Purdue. Other players are asking for $2+ mil a year. IU at $10 mil for men’s basketball will keep them in the top 10 nationally for men’s basketball NIL. guess you were fooled. Quick to judge but that’s ok. Lack of understanding the market made you jump to a false conclusion. I have nothing against female sports. I went to the girls IHSAA state basketball finals. I go to fever games. I watch USWNT soccer. But you do you. Go ahead and block me bc I’m done with this conversation.
  13. Hahaha. I’m not sexist at all. But the university charges more for men’s tickets than women’s, is that sexist? Bc by doing so they are saying the men are more important the women right? The men’s basketball revenue is also greater than the women’s. Especially from a NCAA tournament payout. It’s better business to support the men more to help get them back to elite status. Previous staffs mismanagement shouldn’t hinder the new staff. When other programs are willing to pay $4 mil for 1 player on the men’s side, yes it needs to go to the men’s team.
  14. I think Pitino is a better coach than he gets credit for. Minnesota is a millstone job imo. The only coach in my lifetime that was successful there cheated and got caught. Nobody else has been successful. In today’s climate it doesn’t get the NIL necessary to be competitive either, so it’s still a bad job. Pitino can do well at Xavier imo. And the game vs St John’s will be must see tv imo. Doesn’t mean he will go to a final four, but nobody else at Xavier was getting there either.
  15. Mismanagement is different than lack of need. Give it to the men’s program.
  16. Rather it go to Mens basketball.
  17. Yeah unsure what’s happening. But Virginia did have an interim this year. So all may not be lost. Probably a depth piece at this point.
  18. Double digits hammering coming Marylands way.
  19. Even my wife said “didn’t he travel?”
  20. I’m not sure how successful he will be at Iowa. With their issues with NIL, he will be at a consistent talent deficit. He won’t be winning the conference or going deep in the tournament with a consistently undermanned roster compared to the top of the conference.

  22. UConn has played tough. Gotta respect their grit and cohesiveness.
  23. They will be a regular tournament team if I had to guess. He is a good coach but he isn’t some elite coaching genius.
  24. If Marshall is gone then they should look at Sanderson the former Michigan strength and conditioning guy. He was under Beilien and then got into it with Howard his last year about nepotism. Called Howard out for treating his sons differently than the rest of the players and how it hurt culture. So Howard had a temper tantrum and Sanderson was shown the door. But he is an excellent S&C coach.
