So just the 1,2,3 and 5 teams moving on? lol…good year for Mr Pomeroy. Biggest upset on there, among real teams, might be UT dismantling Iowa St.

Not looking great. I was unsure about this game and just laid a small bet on UConn. But they don’t look like they have too many ways to stop Duke on defense. Scheyer is a dang good coach. Can see why K punted on Collins for him.

I hate how good at passing the ball Michigan is. SAD!

UM is susceptible to a cold shooting night from three point land. The problem is they just don’t have them very often.

Funny how quick things can change. A year ago and Shertz was too small time for a job like IU. Now he’s turning down solid jobs in NC State. There’s like a 5% chance UNC strikes out on everyone and offers him. This goes to my overall point that instead of chasing hot names and getting into stupid bidding wars (and thus the long term, buyout heavy contracts which that entails), schools like IU should be reaching down further for the most talented young guys they can find . You can likely offer them more flexible contracts giving you the ability to move off quicker if need be.

They were top 10 in Kenpom and going into the tourney had surpassed Illinois as the top offense in the country. They made the elite 8 which is essentially where a 2 seed should lose. I guess I don’t see the problem.

Arizona can’t hit an open shot and can’t get the pace up. Bad sign for them
-
I don’t actually like their style of basketball. But I do respect them doing it with a bunch of Indiana boys.
-
They won’t go away. But eventually Arizona will run away from them

Good point. McCollum definitely had an unfair advantage by bringing all his D2 players.
-
You guys think Stirtz made McCollum. But what if McCollum made Stirtz?

Yea…Illinois separating a little now. Bit iowas had great game plans every game. He’s the real deal. If they land a really good portal point guard, which I would assume they have a good chance to do, they will be off to the races again next year.

He’s like Coverdale on steroids and HGH. I want to dislike him but I can’t. He’s a stone cold killer out there.

At 9 mil in NIL he might have to think twice about the UNC job. Lol I honestly think he’s a sneaky candidate for that UNC job if they whiff on everyone. His style is too perfect for them.

On paper Purdue should be toast. But they have a senior laden team. The two biggest matchups Braden and TKR could be won by Purdue largely because KoanPeat is a frosh. That leaves the Burries Loyer matchup. Should be AZ by a mile there , but Burries has a tendency to be a little streaky—although less so as the season has worn on. If Burries is just off and PU wins the other two matchups, they could win it. Honestly, AU should take it no problem on paper. I think they will, personally.

Impressive win from them. This tournament has been really good so far. All these teams left could win it. For as much as the transfer portal needs cleaned up, it’s basic function of getting good players on top teams makes for a pretty compelling tournament if you can get past the lack of upsets on the first two days.

Mays boys screw up an end the half possession and they go in down two. Be interesting if the game comes down to a possession.

2026-27 Roster/Portal/how to fix the roster?
str8baller replied to Asha’man's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Couldn’t disagree more. Beat NW at home and beat Iowa or Nebraska at home and you’re above .500. Maybe not likely but definitely not “the absolute ceiling” for a good coach. The roster wasn’t great but neither was the coaching. -
Transfer Portal w/IU Interest
str8baller replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Definitely. We need a backup PG and a backup post to go along with our starters. But let’s say we land a PG and starting guard who is a combo guard and can handle point duties for 10min a game it makes it easier to keep Dorn and miles. -
The fact that Cig name-checks Whitten and Dolson in about every big interview is what gives me confidence. If THAT guy thinks they’re important and have the right stuff then who am I to disagree. My only hope is that the football natty gives them enough rope to tell the board and other basketball meddlers to back off so they can do what needs to be done. Cig is the younger generations Knight. Hopefully he gives the younger fans the confidence that we can also compete at the highest level in basketball.

Maybe I’m taking crazy pills but hasn’t height always been a key element in basketball? I think because Woody only focused on bigs and woody wasn’t successful, IU fans got this weird notion they weren’t all that important to success.
