Transfer Portal w/IU Interest

When Devries craps out what are your coaches going to say? Are you going to tell them they don’t know what they’re talking about? -

I’d hope so since there’s no such thing as tampering…lol -

You’re encouraged byv that? Oh boy…. -
Not ideal for Indiana

Not reporting to your boss is a baller move. I endorse.

I’d offer up an Isiah Thomas phone call but he’d probably screw it up so bad we’d end up with Mark Turgeon

@oldfart was right. good for AZ and lol at UNC

That would be an incredible start if the coaching and fit is right. Round out with a stretch 4 and combo guard and you have a tourney team knocking on the s16 -

It’s funny to watch college fans freak out about all the fake numbers agents float. Been a thing in the pros forever but you eventually learn the real numbers. In college you don’t do so people just go on believing whatever rumor agents float to the media. Most of the media are happy to do it to because that’s how they get “breaking news.” -

He made it as an 18 year old and couldn’t get starters minutes at Illinois. Daniel Jacobsen made it and couldn’t start at Purdue. Keen eye there -

Morez was a top recruit and built like a NBA PF. Everyone thought he had talent. But he couldn’t really crack the starting lineup of a mediocre Illinois team last year. There’s a chance that practicing against Lendenborg all summer is what made things click for him. Or Dusty. Or it was just inevitable like you claim. I’m not convinced that if he goes someplace like Kansas or UNC he has the same season he has at Michigan. -

There’s definitely a world where you splash cash on those 3 and they never really amount to anything more than the sum of their parts from the prior year. I have said I think Dusty has done an excellent job coaching this group. But sometimes you can get a lucky too. Hard to be as good as Michigan without a touch of luck. -

It’s going to be that way because success depends on getting the maximum talent for the dollars spent times how well it all fits together. Plenty of disagreement to be had. The only key to success will be excellent roster building—getting the most talent per dollar—on top of good coaching. It’s starting to be an efficient market out there where every team gets to start over every year. You don’t need 3 years to build a team. Gotta be a shark to survive and lots of people will disagree with you along the way unless you’ve proven yourself a la Cig. -

Just throw Mullins in there and make everyone happy. -

I like Burton. He’s not perfect but I could be talked into most of his issues being forced to play alongside the coaches kid who is “less good.” ND has been pretty bad though. I guess they were worse this year without him so there’s that. -
2026-27 Roster/Portal/how to fix the roster?
str8baller replied to Asha’man's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Euros have been ahead of us developing bigs for at least a generation. Most of the best ones are fully pro in a good league by 19, though. -
More amazing to see how high up in basketball we are given the results. We could outspend UK in basketball and still be well below the line because Cig and Dolson have successfully turned on the football money printing machine. Kind of cool.

He’s the type of player—changes schools every year and loves to dominate the ball—that I’d have to be talked in to taking. You better really trust your system and staff to be able to integrate a guy like that successfully. What separates him from a guy like AJ Storr?

I’m trying to remember the last time we had this happen. Reneau, I guess…but he was all-conference for another team. Oddly enough Durham and Franklin were maybe the next two closest along with Galloway, but I don’t think Galloway made any all conference teams. -

I’m pretty sure Braden Smith had at least one actionable offer at $3mil last season. So if Fru remains in and ranked around 11th because the market is thin and everyone wants bigs, it wouldn’t surprise me if he got into the 2-3 mil range. -

That’s wild. They have a Walmart heir cutting them checks or something? -
They had a great portal haul last year. (I could make the case the underachieved relative to talent). But they mostly got seniors. That’s the problem with grabbing a bunch of one year guys. As far as Fru goes, I would probably not expect a ton of loyalty out of Euro pros.
