Woodson can’t recruit and the program is burning in hell. Lol.
-
That’s right, I think you mentioned that a while back. My apologies. Hard to keep them all straight and actually get any work done, lol.

Someone on Twitter claiming we’re recruiting Keshon Gilbert of UNLV. Any info about that?

Dusty May - FAU HC - Former IU student manager

Lol. I didn’t say he should be our next coach either. I said other P5s will want him. And they will. -

Dusty May - FAU HC - Former IU student manager

I don't know if there would be a thread about him. I never made a claim about that one way or the other. Maybe there would be. He's accomplished something pretty special. What I said was a lot of people with no IU ties are going to want him. A lot of people with no IU ties know how good he is. They've probably done more than glance at his record and find some guys they don't like to compare him to. For anyone really interested, FAU, unlike Loyola-Chicago, and certainly unlike Dayton and Butler, has accomplished nothing in basketball. They had something like 8 straight losing seasons when May took over. The previous coach won about as many games in 4 years as May has won this year. May started with next to nothing, but has had all winning seasons, and five consecutive of them. For those who think he just stunk for 4 years and all of a sudden became good this year, his KenPom rankings the past 4 years have gone 191-181-129-17. They were consistently ranked 240-300 for many years before he took over. He has been building this at, again, a place that has never done anything. He's an extraordinary difference maker there. It is astonishing. So I'm not sure what you are "not buying." -

I was more referring to the part where you stated “if he didn’t have an IU connection.” I think many people with no IU connection realize he’s good. And I get the comparison with Porter Moser but, respectfully, there is no comparison. I’ve certainly not followed FAU to the extent I’ve followed IU, but I’ve done much more than just spend a few seconds looking at his record. If you want to compare him with coaches who have made magical runs, think more Brad Stevens and less Porter Moser, Archie Miller, etc. -

I'd be willing to bet the folks who believe that will find out they're wrong in a couple weeks when you see P5 schools come after him. -

And that’s the difference between Dusty May and any of the other guys mentioned in this thread. The coach before May was 34-89. No past program success to fall back on like Crean at Marquette or Miller at Dayton. No “somebody else’s players” because this is May’s fifth year there. All his guys now. May built this himself, out of basically nothing. A Final Four team at Florida Atlantic. -
Indiana Players Now In The Portal

Trying to figure out what sense it makes to come here and bash the program, say it “won’t win,” but then want to keep the players. -

You’re obviously too young to remember Uwe Blab, particularly his first two years here. -
This. It was A LOT bigger problem than most people seem to realize, IMO.

Any Chance Purdue and Matt Painter Part Ways?
IUHoosierJoe replied to Herotime's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Oh, but if you look at their message boards, they think they could go get Nate Oates or Bill Self. It is seriously the most delusional group of fans in sports history. -
Their schedule ranked dead last #363 in my ratings and their conference ranked as the worst of the 32 conferences.
-
Just thought I'd note here that I had FDU #313 out of 363 teams in my final computer rankings. As far as I can find, they are my lowest ranked team that's ever played in the tournament.
-
Arizona had a strange year. Beat most of the top teams they played and most of their losses were to mediocre teams. They were prime first-round upset material.

Bracketology and Team Resumes
IUHoosierJoe replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Based on some tried and true historical metrics: Houston, Alabama, Connecticut, and Texas are in my inner circle. Close to the circle are UCLA, Kansas, Creighton, and a school I won't name in this sort of a conversation, lol. -
They actually went 7-0 during that time period. But yes, 9 in a row overall.
-
Took my ratings and isolated just the past 3 weeks (Feb 20 - Mar 12) to see what level each team has played at during that period. Here are the top 25: 1 Gonzaga 2 Texas 3 Utah St 4 UCLA 5 FL Atlantic 6 Memphis 7 Connecticut 8 Clemson 9 Alabama 10 Kentucky 11 Houston 12 West Virginia 13 Duke 14 Tennessee 15 Arizona 16 VCU 17 Hofstra 18 Drake 19 Purdue 20 Xavier 21 BYU 22 USC 23 San Diego St 24 Texas A&M 25 Michigan

If by "accept" you mean not go on a public message board and insult our players, then yeah, proudly me. Have a nice day. Hope you feel better soon.

Nah, but we have posters who break down.

Moot point now, but judging from where most have them on their seed lines (12 or 13), they wouldn’t have made it as an at large.

Bracketology and Team Resumes
IUHoosierJoe replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
How does the committee balance a resume like Arizona’s, with a good record vs. teams in the field but questionable losses to teams outside the field? Does one side always outweigh the other, or are there additional factors that go into that determination? -

Top 7 I would say for sure. I'm a little less certain about Marquette.
