But they're not being fired in 2-3 years for not winning enough as you seem to be claiming. They're given time and still fail to consistently win and are let go. The anomaly (Sampson) really drives down the average number of years. He wasn't fired for not winning, he was fired despite winning.
-
Davis - 6 years Sampson - <2 year Crean - 9 years (including 3 terrible years at the beginning) Miller - 4 years Only 1 was in the 2-3 year (or less) range and he got himself fired. Ironically, he was the best coach of the bunch. So the narrative that IU has this great turnover in coaches is just false. Yet somehow, none of those 3 turned into the next Coach K, Jay Wright, or Dan Hurley. Odd. In fact, they all flamed out and did poorly after IU except for Sampson. Good thing we have the greatest coach ever now.

Right, because preseason polls aren't a thing.

I would think that having the #3 frontcourt and #14 backcourt would make this a top 10 team. There must be some reason it isn't. I wonder what that could be.

(2025) - (C) Malachi Moreno to Kentucky

The article is incorrect since they list only 7 names in the top 8. IU is the one they left out. "eight finalists: Arkansas, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, Notre Dame and Ohio State." -
Their website seems to be having errors. When I looked at the list it somehow left out IU. I tried reloading the page but the error persisted.

At least basketball isn't as bad as football yet. In football, a "commitment" should really be considered just publicly stating the leader in their recruitment. -
I do but with how great this team and coach are, 22 wins is very weak. This is one of the greatest coaches ever so it's insulting that you have such low expectations that only 22 would be possible.

Well, I'm convinced now. Woodson is the greatest thing since sliced bread. He should definitely get a huge raise and an extension before the season since he's definitely on the level of Knight, McCracken, K, Hurley, and multiple other NC winning coaches. This year is when he'll show his greatness and will be the 1st of multiple NC because this is such a great team with a great coach. It's really odd, though, that his biggest supporters put the floor at only 22 wins while telling us how great this team and the coach are. Regardless, they've convinced me of his greatness so anything less than 25 regular season wins and a FF appearance would be a disappointing season.

IU Mens/Womens Swimming and Diving

Wow. Assuming he has eligibility left (I think he has 1 year) and isn't going pro, Chris Guiliano should transfer to IU. -
Winning coaches get to stay a long time? How shocking. Woodson is nowhere close to being as good as either of those two. Being better than Archie Miller doesn't automatically make him the next Knight or McCracken.

(2025) QB - Julian Lewis to Colorado (for now)
go iu bb replied to Hovadipo's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
That's....a bit much. He would certainly improve the team and would very likely lead to better recruiting. But a jump from the state of IU football to a title contender seems hyperbolic. -
Miller "only" got 4 seasons but your point still stands.
-
So the argument to keep Woodson seems to be that while he might not be that good, we probably won't do better so should just be happy with mediocrity. Cool.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread

You're right. I must have swapped the 17 wins with the 7 loses in my mind. My bad. Still less than a 0.500 record against teams with a pulse. But accuracy matters so thanks for pointing that out. I fixed it. -

Those 40 losses are by an average of 12 points. So under Woodson, the average lose is a blowout. This isn't surprising his terrible record against good teams (both record and number of blowouts). 35-39 (47.3%) against NET top 100 teams uninspiring, especially considering that for 2 of those seasons he had an AA player who was also an IU great. I think they'll be better this year than last (hard not to be) but will still underperform what they should be. -

Yep, the more hires we see the more obvious it becomes that IU really just got lucky on a few hires. Just look to how inept the football team has historically been as evidence of this in addition to other basketball coaches you mentioned.

Stopped reading before the bolded part below? That season they were almost dead last in how often they took 3-point shots. They were 352nd in attempts per game. That squanders the good shooting as shown by being only 334th in makes despite being 48th in percentage.
-
I'll believe it when I see it. We're heard every year during the summer and early season workouts how certain players are shooting so well and how much better the team will be from 3 that year. Then the offseason snipers can't make shots in games and/or the team just doesn't shoot many 3 point shots. Usually both.

How do NFL teams handle the moving of their equipment for cross country games? Cargo planes? I expect college teams will adopt similar methods.

Good thing you're here to tell us the obvious. It's hilarious you get offended by threads that are negative towards Woodson as well as those which are positive.
