  1. Lol, I stopped paying attention before that last foul. Losing by only 5 when 12.5 point dogs is a moral victory! It's definitely a win for team tank.
  2. Finding ways to lose. Losing by only 3 is the same as a victory, right?
  3. Exactly. Woodson, like Miller before him, shows his weakness is basketball. One is gone and one will be soon.
  4. Or you could just post it in the appropriate thread. I suppose that may be too complicated.
  5. Than maybe it shouldn't be in the Woodson thread.
  6. Constantly shifting the goal posts as usual. You said "never" then when I gave you an example you shift. Typical. The fact that Crean was given as long as he was shows your first statement above is false. I would say that Painter has been way more consistent than Crean ever was or had shown he could be. The reason for that is he had a lot of turnover in his program (remember the term "Creaning"?), had some discipline problems, and had alienated a lot of the area's HS and AAU coaches. Part of the reason the AD created the student athlete Bill of Rights was because of Crean and the stuff he did. Painter just had 1 bad patch where he tried to recruit players that didn't fit his system. Relative to Crean, few discipline problems. Painter also hasn't pissed off a ton of HS and AAU coaches with his treatment of their players. This while being more consistent both within the B1G as well as getting to and advancing in the NCAAT than Crean. That 4 year stretch you mention, he still finished 3rd in the B1G in the 2 years he made the tournament.
  7. Crean says hello. You're talking out your a**. There's another thread for talking about other coaches who may or may not become the next coach at IU. This topic is about firing Woodson.
  8. What should we discuss now? Oh, I have an idea! It's a crazy idea but bear with me: Let's talk about firing Mike Woodson!
  9. I'm not sure except that I know that it won't be Wade or Beard. Brownell seems extremely unlikely.
  10. You're in the real world yet talking about Will Wade as though he's a viable candidate for the IU job when it opens? Okaaaay.....
  11. Bump. Maybe a better place to debate Will Wade?
  12. That's how I feel about Coach Facial Hair. I would not be a IU basketball fan if he was hired. Luckily, I don't have to worry about that since it won't happen.
  13. Fans thinking we'd get Stevens is how we got Woodson?
  14. Not enough stars next to his name so probably not.
  15. He committed to PU after Woodson was hired. Woodson had time to look at him and offer. He didn't. I did mention Miller in my post, so I'm aware that he missed on him too. Miller is no longer IU's coach, so that is moot.
  16. Yes, IU never offered. It was thought that if they did offer, he would commit on the spot or close to it. Similar to what you just said happened with Purdue offering. Some people were pretty high on him, a lot of others had doubts and wanted higher rated players. One of those that wanted higher rated players was Woodson. Big miss by him but to be fair, Smith likely wouldn't have prospered in Woodson's system like he has at PU. The same could be said about Miller's system.
  17. It seems to be that, in general, the better they are as a player, the worse they are as a coach. The exceptions to this seem to be those who weren't really athletically gifted but had to work extremely hard and really understand the game to become good. Even then they don't always do well. My guess is that those who it comes to more naturally might not have as deep of an understanding and/or don't know how to relay their understanding to those less gifted. Those that had to work hard expect that same dedication from others and fail when they don't get that.
  18. Do you mean former players coaching at their alma mater? Yeah, there's only a few of those and for the most part it hasn't worked out. Davis at UNC is another one in addition to those mentioned by others already. He's done much better than Woodson but some think he's on the hot seat while others think it's just warm and he'll for sure get another year. So he hasn't been terrible but he's also not great and likely won't last too much longer at UNC. If you mean coaches who were former players at any school, then that would be quite a few of the coaches out there.
  19. If true, that just shows how much Woodson "loves" IU basketball. He didn't even keep up with what was happening in the program.
  20. Nick Kidwell also decided not to try to get another year of eligibility. https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/iu-football-roster-notes-as-program-turns-page-to-2025/ More articles about the roster: https://hoosierhuddle.com/hoosier-blog/latest-iu-football-roster-update-comes-with-some-surprises/2025/1/29 https://www.idsnews.com/article/2025/01/indiana-football-transfers-curt-cignetti-big-ten-iu-bloomington
  21. Assembly Hall just isn't large enough to hold both of those inflated egos at the same time.
  22. At this point it feels like the staff is just going through the motions and not really trying hard at HS recruiting. Get a visit so that it looks like they're doing something then radio silence. I'm not even going to bother remembering this kid's name.
  23. This site wasn't loading for a few minutes. I was momentarily excited thinking I had missed the news that Woodson had been fired and all the traffic had crashed the site. Alas, that wasn't the case...
  24. Who moderates the moderators? The mods are derailing this thread! We need @Class of '66 Old Fart to come get them back in line.
  25. It is true that if Woodson had played anywhere else then he would have been fired last year. It's also true that if Woodson had played anywhere else then he wouldn't have been hired in the first place. But yes, internal politics keeping a bad coach around too long simply because they played at the university were definitely part of the reason I didn't want any former players hired in the first place. Another reason is the coaching acumen of those former players. Then there is the baggage that the best of them (though still far from great himself) has.
