Translation: I have no idea how to fix it so I'm just going to blame everything and everyone but myself while pretending I blame myself.

How has this IU team, built like it's still the 90s done against teams whose coaches have based their offenses and defenses on those metrics? The answer is "pretty poorly." Those teams are blowing IU out, not the other way around. Coaches adopted them because they are effective, no other reason. If they were shown to not work, the coaches who tried them wouldn't last long. Also, that isn't a new concept. The Pitino UK teams played with that philosophy and they were really good. Won a NC.

No, what he said was technically true. You read it as an implication that IU reached out to them, which isn't surprising since it was poorly written in a way to imply that. Reporters asked them about the job and they said they weren't interested. That's it.
-
There is no way that IU reached out to Pitino. Since he's on the list, is there any reason to believe any of the rest of the names? Not to me, there isn't.

Screw 'em

On top of getting to the tournament every year and 3 seasons of at least getting to the S16, there are also 3 seasons with single digit losses. Those have been few and far between for IU the last 20 or 30 years. the last was in '16 under Crean.

I don't think anyone here has a direct connection to MM or his family. Going off of comments from the recruitment, it is believed that he and his family wanted (and believed him to be) a one and done. The thought is that if that is the case and IU was unable to get him to the NBA in a year, he'd either go pro anyways or transfer to somewhere that might do a better job. Kind of like Ware. So as far as I know, it's speculation but not baseless.

It's only 27 games into the season. Do you really expect a new team to have all the plays down already? -
I don't really like the style of their play so he's not my first choice but that would certainly be a home run hire. He does win a lot of games and has a NC. His style might also be better in the B1G than ACC. Winning is fun so the style would probably only seem boring if we were losing.

Doesn't get much closer than that. Congratulations to the women on their win. The last relay was intense. https://swimswam.com/2024-womens-big-ten-championships-day-4-finals-live-recap/ 0.5 point difference with 1359 points scored is only 0.37%. -

I thought it was Buckner who was calling the shots on hiring Woodson. Now it's donors? Anyone but Dolson, I guess.

That's what I saw too. He definitely looked like he was about to shove the fan and then you see him roll his ankle after the fan runs in to his knee.

IU kept it to a single digit loss. They've only had 3 others of those. Moral victory!

Yes. His is the last class which gets the automatic 5th year if they want it. -

The OSU DQ also cost them a meet record, which IU got. -

It's Indiana. It's Indiana. -
I agree with the first part but not the last.
-
Should a bad coach really be secure? Should Woodson be secure as a bad coach just because he played at IU?

IU moves to 2nd, 23 points behind OSU. They were helped by OSU having their only winning relay disqualified, costing them 64 points. That kept IU close despite OSU having an otherwise really big day. https://swimswam.com/2024-womens-big-ten-championships-day-3-finals-live-recap/ -
Without an antitrust exemption, they'll keep losing cases like this. I think to convince Congress to give them that exemption, they'd have to follow the pro model with NCAA/schools and a players union negotiating a CBA that includes player contracts.

2.5 dogs so we lose by 20? -
What? He has a plan and he talks about it all the time. Get to work and get them over the hump. Do you mean you actually want specifics? That's crazy talk.
-
Makes sense since most of the wins have been close and a lot of the losses have been blowouts.

People like winners.
