  1. I was more arguing with the "by far" part. Miller's year 4 is a contender with much of the same talent that Woodson had in year 1. This is what we've become. Debating which of the last 8 years was the worst and quibbling over if one was "by far" the worst. smh Dolson needs to not **** up this hire.
  2. By far the worst of the last 8? Miller's final season they had a losing record. Man, we really need a competent coach after these last two total duds.
  3. What probably happened is that the poster forgot where he saw it and who said it then attributed it to the wrong person.
  4. What are you going on about?
  5. That's your opinion which you're entitled to have. I wasn't trying to persuade you one way or another, just pointing out that what you were saying about his buyout was incorrect.
  6. Read the Doyel article. He was forced out.
  7. There are 2 buyouts: 1) The school fires him. That is 70% of the remaining contract which puts this buyout at about $11M currently. This money goes to the coach. 2) May decides to leave, i.e. he gets another job somewhere else like, say, IU. This is at $5M and will soon drop to $4M. This money goes to the school. So you're original post that I replied to which stated they kept it at $5M to make it cheap to fire him is incorrect.
  8. Then why didn't his IU teams play with hustle?
  9. Miller would've wasted the money on low talent players. He wasn't a very good evaluator of talent.
  10. I'm removing Self from the list.
  11. Different buyout. The buyout to fire him is 70% of his remaining contract, so around $11M now.
  12. One name I'm happy to see isn't being thrown around is Shrewsberry.
  13. I already stated before that I wouldn't change my mind but I'll elaborate. I feel very strongly about domestic violence. \When I was a young, my mom's second husband was abusive. He was physically violent against my mom and younger brother and mentally/emotionally abusive to all of us. She wasn't with him too long before we left but it left a lasting impact. I remember. I remember the fear. I remember the fear my mom had even, especially, when she decided to take us and leave since that is one of the most dangerous times in an abusive relationship. He was such a POS that my sister, his daughter, didn't bother trying to get his paid off house and other belongings when he died without a will because she wanted nothing to do with him. A lot of people view this as just a one-off "accident" or something. Domestic violence tends to escalate over time. So the thought that the first time this particular guy laid hands on a women was in his late-40s and resulted in the cops being called because of how very violent it was is laughable to me. It wasn't a single slap or punch. It was biting and strangling. She called the cops because she literally feared for her life. People can fool themselves into thinking this was an isolated incident. I won't because the chance that it is is astronomically low. I won't change my mind. If he is hired, I won't be a fan of IU basketball while he's the coach, possibly never again. Miller and now Woodson have made it easier than ever to walk away if it comes to that. That said, I think the chance that IU actually hires Beard is pretty much 0%.
  14. It works. archive.is/www.indystar.com/story/sports/columnists/gregg-doyel/2025/02/07/indiana-basketball-asked-mike-woodson-to-resign-then-told-him-its-over-iu-step-down-retirement-fired/78344378007/# It's worth a read. It basically says what we've been saying on this board. A real Woodson takedown.
  15. Copy that whole link then change 'https:/' into 'archive.is'
  16. Did you stop reading after the first line? It looks like Jaybob was actually on your side. The first line looks like a quote or paraphrase of what a mod said to you on HSN.
  17. If they're anything like the women's shelters around here, he probably wouldn't be allowed to volunteer there. I volunteered at a shelter for women escaping domestic violence and to be allowed to do so one has to get a fingerprint clearance card, which checks the person's criminal record for disqualifying arrests and charges. In this case, violent offenses. Even though he wasn't prosecuted, he was arrested.
  18. With this thread also soon to be retired, do we need to worry about @Hornsby? Are you going to be ok?
  19. I won't change my mind.
  20. If he signs an extension then he was never really a serious option for IU unless IU has already announced a coach.
  21. I was disappointed he wasn't recruited by IU, though unsurprised. Tough way to end his career.
  22. Almost got within 1000 pages of the College Bball Thread in just over a year. I wanted to catch that one but it had too much of a head start. Valiant effort, everyone.
  23. I spent a summer working at a music store in Bloomington. We sold pipes and stuff (this was before vaping). People would come in and say something like, "I'll take that bong." I'd respond with, "This water pipe? No problem, that'll be $xxx." Some were too stupid to get it and would argue that it's a bong so I'd have to make them leave.
