Wasn't that a player instead of Scheyer? Filipowski, I think? I think he tried to trip and shove a fan and ended up hurt himself.

Someone already posted these numbers but now is a good chance to do so again: At a P4 schools, he's won 67.5% (179-86) overall but only 53.7% (73-63) in conference in 7 whole seasons and 2 partial seasons. Of his complete seasons: Only 1 time did he finish with less than 7 losses in conference. Only once did he finish with single digit losses. It's just not as impressive of a resume as some make it seem. They look at only those 2 really good seasons at TT which he hasn't come close to replicating.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
go iu bb replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The real reason Woodson is upset he's losing his job is that he'll now have to pay for the trips to different golf courses around the country as well as the green fees instead of doing it on IU's dime. -
I've seen that Mick Cronin has a large buyout but not the numbers in discussions here though I may have missed it. His buyout is $16M until April 1. At that time, it drops again (don't know how much). This is the same if he leaves or gets fired. I don't see IU spending that kind of money for Cronin.

Your Hoosier posting board history
go iu bb replied to RaceToTheTop's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I joined the old peegs site in the mid 90s, with a user name close to or the same as my current one here. At some point I forgot my password and created another account under user name minneman. I stayed on the rivals site and didn't follow peegs when they left. This was until a few years ago. I didn't really post on there much. After that, I went to HSN under username go_iu_bb and was on there for a while. I still go there occasionally. When HSN kept crashing during the last coaching search, I ended up here. -
That is up to the school on how to split up the money but they must take Title IX into account. It's also unclear at this time what percentage needs to go to women's sports. It will be affected by Title IX (per the courts) but it isn't clear how: 50/50, something else based on revenue generated, or some other method? The courts didn't clarify what they meant. Most of the men's money will probably go to football with the majority of the rest going to basketball. How much of the $20.5M cap (I assume IU will hit that cap) is unknown at this time. The school probably doesn't even know yet since there will likely be clarification between now and when they have to start paying it out. They likely have several plans based on possible outcomes but nothing is public.

Even if Dolson and Whitten somehow didn't have a problem with him, he wouldn't be hired because of how it'd fracture the fan base. Just look at this site as an example of that. I see no way he gets hired, thankfully.

In addition to it meaning that IU has a good basketball team again, I want the next coach to be successful so I don't have to see a bunch of posts pining for Beard to be coach.
-
I hope we don't hire McCollum because I call him McGollum in my head and think he kind of looks like Gollum. I don't know if I can deal with that with him as the head coach. It's not fair, i know, but it is what it is. But I also don't like the sound of his system. Sounds slow and boring.

Alcohol. It's been said he has a problem with alcohol. I know there's at least 1 video out there of him smashed and just rambling. Also, he better hope that anyone vetting him doesn't talk to his ex-girlfriends and their family and friends. The chances the first time he ever hit a women he ended up biting and strangling her, hurting her enough that he got felony charges are slim to none.

I shouldn't have watched it. I don't think it'll be him but now I've watched it and I'm going to be sooooo disappointed when it isn't.

A few steps. Some can maybe be skipped but this seems to work consistently. 1) change 'https://x' to 'twitter' in the url and hit enter to reload the page. 2) it'll probably reload as 'x.com' again. If so, change the 'x' to 'twitter' but don't hit enter, instead copy and paste that link I've tried skipping the first step but it never seemed to work.

Here ya go. Edit: See you got it. Never mind.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
go iu bb replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
We've already seen that he has no problem saying he won't answer a question when he doesn't want to be asked about something. Except then it's him avoiding questions about his "retirement" which was supposedly his idea. -
Well, then. I guess I'm not surprised since it's the Big Ten. Maybe a little surprised they didn't call a foul on JG for hitting the guy's elbow with his face, I guess.

Flagrant foul?

What happened? And did he lose a tooth? It looks painful. Sucks for Geronimo.

They “Retired” Coach Woodson Thread
go iu bb replied to Banksyrules's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
He's basing that on the unfounded premise that Woodson is a grown man, not the man-sized child he actually is. -
Completely agree. He's way up there for me. 2nd on my list to Stevens, who I don't think we'll get. In addition to his winning percentage, he's also won tournaments and lower level championships. The guy just wins. If IU is serious, they should be looking at $7M+ to pull a great coach away from a school they may love. Not offer Stevens $10M then settle for someone for $3-4M. Examples: Double the salary of someone you really want like McCasland or Otzelberger. Offer Oats that $10M. Edit: McCasland is making only $2.9M this year. I bet he'd go to IU for $6-7M.

This is what a few of us have been saying for a while now. IU is willing to pay its coaches (both Miller and Woodson had top 10 salaries at one point in their time at IU) along with being in the B1G (easier to get to the tournament), profit sharing, and NIL would make the job desirable. Even with the poor results the last 8 years, IU has landed talent. The fan expectations are way down so that negative is overblown. As Miller and Woodson have shown, coaches get at least 4 years.

Excellent point. When you remove the Knight connection, Beard doesn't look nearly as attractive. I've never understood the amount of love that Beard gets. Good coach but not a home run as some think.
