Prediction League RESULTS Thread
Evariste Galois replied to Str8Hoosiers's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Let's not confound mathematics, which is a high art, with mindless number crunching engineers LOL! Galois theory is pretty abstract - I am not sure if it has been used in a lot of applications. I would consider IU's pure math to be more historically prestigious than PU's (I am biased). -

I still cannot get over the poor job we did against the zone in 2013... -

I think -35 is actually colder in Fahrenheit Edit: Not defending Alaska Hoosier's toughness :). -

Xavier Johnson - Commits to IU (PG)
Evariste Galois replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I thought TJD was a leader this off season... It was clear he was instrumental behind the scenes in bringing almost everyone back. I think X and TJD night be the perfect combo of leaders. -
So 2022-2023 season?!?? ;)

The Player That Defines Each IUBB Era
Evariste Galois replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I do not recognize that player. Is he from Louisiana? -
I would love to have a former player fill that role - maybe an A.J. or a recent player... like Hulls, Watford, Johnson, or Hartman. Robert Johnson would allow the staff to bridge the IU generations almost completely with the former players on the staff: Early Knight years: Woodson Late Knight & Davis years: Fife Crean & Miller years: Johnson

I thought the discussion of Brunk leaving centered around not being able to attend law-school AND play on the team at IU. Maybe OSU allows players to do both.

Who will be most improved player & Why.
Evariste Galois replied to HoosierBoiler's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm expecting this to be the case! I put improvement into two categories: observed and unobserved. observed: improved statistics, may or may not be because of particular skill improvement. unobserved: skillset has improved, but it may not play out in their stats in 2021-2022 (due to things like greater competition). Observed: Lander: will learn why he was a 5-star before reclassifying. Strength/shooting will improve Rob: skillset was there to be an elite player; shooting %'s to improve. Hunter: competition/time from injury will bring out his best. Improved handling/passing Race: improved outside shot will add some extra points per game. Unobserved: Geronimo: improved #'s, but full fruit of skill improvement to be observed in 2022-2023 season. TJD: skills improve (shot & right hand) to improve draft stock considerably; but will "only" have slight improvement on ~ 20 / 10. Galloway: skills to improve (e.g., 3 point shot); long-term investment. Leal: Game will develop, team benefits will immerge in junior and especially senior year -
Miller Kopp to Indiana (Northwestern Transfer)
Evariste Galois replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think player development will determine who stays versus transfer. If players feel like they are improving, I think they stay. -
Were the exact words on the Pac 12: "The Pac 12 stinks - Go Big 10!" - :)

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff
Evariste Galois replied to Hoosierfan1901's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Thanks, I definitely wish him well! He helped carry us through the transition time and it turned out well for us. He is definitely a hero in my book. -
Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff

Is this really happening? I really hope not... -
+ 1 We only have one slot left and we seem to still be recruiting. We can't even talk to KB right now. I think the TJD tweets are more just a general "coach is still recruiting" than "I know KB is coming". I would have been excited if it had happened, but does not look good.

I know we do not like Goodman, but this was kind of funny: -
Slight fix... :)

Flipping to the positive version, we take no risk if it is only for one year. Unless we can get an absolute game-changer (e.g., Bates or Bryce Thompson), I am all for it and we would have the scholarship available again next year. With the new rules, we may want to look into developing "feeder" relationships with schools like IWU in the state of Indiana/Midwest. It might become a great way to fill in the roster after players turn pro unexpectedly/transfer after a season.
-
That may be the big advantage of having hired a coach with a finite # of years ahead of him... a 40 year old might be thinking about long-term build.

BUT, he is at least as close to the portal as Keion!
