  1. This was my initial fear last week when the Stevens train got started. That the possibility of Stevens would ruin our expectations of any other coach (regardless of how good). Of course by Friday I had drunk the cool-aid...
  2. Are you saying it is Jason Kidd!?! Again, just kidding (although I expect this rumor to hit twitter).
  3. I don't think the 7 million was for any coach.
  4. To paraphrase Kornheiser when we fired CAM, "it's not like it is Binghamton." Edit: I concede the point, although not necessarily required, it does seem to be standard: "Previous experience is necessary for becoming an assistant coach at the collegiate level. Typically, a bachelor's degree is required for assistant coach positions, and master's degrees are preferred." found here: https://study.com/articles/Assistant_Coach_College_Level_Salary_Duties_and_Career_Info.html
  5. It is a little late for that!
  6. The assistant coach is not a faculty member. I would speculate that over half of IU employees do not have degree or hold a position that does not require their degree.
  7. Dolson said he would consider assistants and he wanted to bring a modern NBA focused approach... Woodson would allow him to claim success, if nothing else.
  8. +1 I think that we used Stevens to help eliminate a coach that nearly everyone thought was underperforming.
  9. I do not know, but I am nearly 100% sure it is not a rule. Edit: I am not advocating for those assistant coaches, by the way.
  10. The reference there was not for Beilein & Woodson, but on whether we would take a NBA assistant vs. college assistant. My point was that the NBA assistant in question has head coaching experience. Edit: I am not opposed to a Beilein hire per se.
  11. One with head coaching experience. This also would fit more with the vision that Dolson outlined of NBA prep...
  12. I think this can only mean Mark Few... JK!
  13. Given the comments we have here, only Stevens could have satisfied #4 (and even then only if he had not made those comments on Friday). So with your comment we are clearly looking at an empty set of coaching candidates.
  14. This caused me to go to a UNC board and there are some precisely comments in a fire Roy thread. I especially liked this one "Roy fumbled about 2-3 Natty's in the last 10 years... Had the talent but fumbled it.." Maybe we can hire Roy... sorry hard pass, too old.
  15. So he is definitely coming.... GET THE PLANE TRACKERS OUT!
  16. I would like this twice if I could...
  17. When he is responsible for 66% of the Knicks winning seasons over the last 20 years... yes maybe.
  18. The math does not lie... 11 times 5 = 55 + 53 = 108 games. What was that I learned about extrapolation? I am sure it is not important!
  19. And won 9 fewer games the next year...
  20. Musselman had 3 losing seasons in 3 seasons in the NBA. At the Hawks, the wins went from 13 to 26 to 30 to 37 to 47 to 53 (an average improvement of 5 games per season). If the Hawks had not fired him, they would probably win 108 games this year!
  21. Based on his resume, I think he would be much better than "good enough." Obviously everyone's # 1 was Stevens after that I am not 100% clear why he would not have a higher ceiling than Musselman for example. And one cannot ignore that he went to IU. We are not likely to land our top 1 (conspiracies aside, already out) or 2. I would be excited to give Woodson a chance if his number comes up.
  22. I get the point, but I am saying if another NBA coach with a similar resume and ties to at least the state of Indiana was interested in the job then we should at least consider them. Edit: Additionally, I had NO particular interest in Woodson for the job prior to looking at his resume (he was before my time). After looking at his resume is when I decided he should at least be given significant consideration. In other words, my interest in Woodson is 100% based on his resume and if someone with significant success in the NBA is interested in the IU job we should definitely kick the tires.
