2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection

New assistant seen standing in corner, not moving, kind of wondering what he's doing... :) -
Without going into whether it's for the best or not, this just isn't the normal coaching situation. This is Fife coming back to IU from MSU, the whole bring back the IU guys thing, with Fife as a key piece, and his being (apparently) unhappy with his role and leaving within a year. I'll be interested to hear how this comes out, but at this point I have to agree it's just not a good look.

Mike Woodson and His Coaching Staff
HoosierHoopster replied to Hoosierfan1901's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Honestly Woodson needs to listen to his college-experienced assistants on the bench. The whole consultant thing is kind of odd, it creates unnecessary division with the staff, who you brought in for their experience. I remember a game where Woodson acknowledged in the post-game presser that he finally put Geronimo in because his assistants were yelling at him to do so, and then Geronimo had a great game. He needs to be giving his experienced staff more of his ear, or bring in a new assistant who he can rely on without looking outside. -
All while recruiting the top HS prospects

Not sure if posted but like this simple tweet from JG - @JordanGeronimo2 Season ended a little too early but nonetheless it was a great season. So proud of my team and happy to break barriers with my brothers. Now the real work starts!! #GBG #Offseason -

JG aint going anywhere -
^^ Teri Moren is genuinely an excellent coach, and the buy-in she gets from the players is fully evident. Back to back SW16's, women's team in full effect, now if we can get the men's team building on this year going forward under Woodson, would be something to have both teams playing at the top of the conference regularly

2022-2023 IUBB Roster Projection
HoosierHoopster replied to Five Prime's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
My guesswork as well, I see JHS as more of a combo guard, and X would start at point/primary ball handler with JHS secondary ball handler if X returns -- I don't know why X wouldn't, he's the sure-fire starting pg on a team that made the tourney and he's bonded to the guys, but again just my guesswork as well. That's not great shooting (JHS has been improving his outside game but it's been an area he needs to develop), need a good shooting wing to go with Geronimo at the 4 -

Thing is prospects absolutely look at depth, including upper classmen depth, how many minutes they played, and how they were played, when picking teams. It's just not as simple as saying a good prospect won't be scared -- good prospects understand that freshmen (i.e., Bates, who is a very good player and as you note was highly ranked) often don't get major minutes and that their minutes will increase when they're sophs -- any guard prospect who would be in competition for minutes with Bates is likely to consider him, those that are looking for immediate, major minutes are more likely to pick a team with that need, that's the norm -
Big Ten basketball is a mess
HoosierHoopster replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I’ve really never noticed or thought about recruiting disparity. Has someone compared B1G’s recruits to other conferences over say the past decade? Does the B1G have fewer of the top recruits comparatively to other conferences consistently? Just asking as I don’t know. Either way I wholeheartedly agree the B1G needs to both change its style of allowing rougher play and provide a break between the conf tourney and ncaa tourney— Glad we landed JHS, kid’s a baller -

Yep -
I keep hearing from people who know more about his hs wrist - hand injury that his shot has never been the same, i dont know if it’s about continuing to work on his outside shot (i know he has been) or it’s that with the wrist injury (and his injury this season) it’s just screwed up his shooting ability— hope not

Agree, makes sense, but if Race were to decide to return and TJD leaves as expected, he could have a strong year as the down- low - to - roam perimeter guy, a 4-out. I’d like to see a Race - Geronimo look.
