  1. I have never looked into that and would like to know too. Our closing stretch is pretty brutal. If we do make the jump to winning the B1G we will have earned it
  2. He was aight :)
  3. Here's to hoping Blue Ribbon is at least as accurate as it was last season (picked us 7th last year, we finished 9). https://www.insidethehall.com/2022/09/12/indiana-picked-to-win-the-big-ten-by-blue-ribbon-college-basketball-yearbook/ IU to win the B1G (on the strength of the front court, picked top of B1G) TJD to B1G POY, B1G all conference team, and 1st team All American
  4. Naah, it's clearly those funky orange sandals :)
  5. ITH’s take is that we have a tough road to win the B1G — noting 4 of 7 final road games ag a tough group. They kind of have a point. Definitely like the multiple home games on weekends though, better, packed AH crowds will help
  6. Thank God that stuff is in the rearview mirror. So looking forward to this season and the road agead.
  7. No there aren’t. Why you need to reach to pretend IU is like a KU is beyond me. No infractions, no actual charges, no investigations since Sampson’s phone gate and IU’s self-destruction of the program. No one here is naïve, of course IU like any other major program, is going to push the envelope where possible— that’s what Compliance is for, but no we haven’t paid recruits under the table etc. And now I’m out of this
  8. You responded to my post that IU doesn’t play under the table and has been at a disadvantage to schools like KU and UK who do, by saying Romeo got paid. So that kind of surprised me. I don’t know the full Romeo story, and don’t like even a remote connection but my point was iU hasn’t played under the table - as in recruiting violations, and it hasn’t. If my post sounded snarky wasn’t my intent. Just seems like some want to think others are naïve, that IU has recruited dirty too, and it’s apples and oranges. So back to Page
  9. The difference between what Self does - KU, and Adidas for Romeo is night and day. You’re not really putting IU in that camp come on now. The U that self reports itself into oblivion vs KU- Self getting players for cash, Cal leaving 2 programs with forfeited seasons, and on to UK, the most sanctioned team ever, we’re not really having this convo are we? IU is as clean as it gets
  10. Nahh. You can buy into that, but it's not true.
  11. Been saying this for years, particularly as it has placed schools like IU — who do not play under the table — at a disadvantage to schools like UK, KU etc— who do. Which is another reason why NIL (though it really needs regulation) is a good thing
  12. Saw the Joshua Tree tour as a teenager, really good concert. For me their music hasn’t stood the test of time, but the Edge had a unique style/ sound for sure, loved his guitar work back then
  13. Honestly not that focused on the rankings though JSH is a 5-star recruit -- (18 on Rivals, 23 on 247, 24 by espn). He has a pro-ready body and size (and good for his position), pro-ready ability, is already considered a strong defender, etc., and has been getting recognized for it, along with working out with guys like PG. He has the tools coming in.
  14. In fairness, Cody had the option to be a one and done, he was a first rounder, but he chose to come back. JHS is a (deserved) 5 star point guard, he's already been working out with Paul George in Cali, doing the CPIII camp coming up, etc. He has exceptional size and strength for a point and is widely recognized as elite. He's very different from a frosh Vic, JBJ, or OG.
  15. This is about what I expected for Ren early on, it's going to take him some time like virtually any incoming frosh frontcourt player to acclimate on the defensive end to the speed of the college game, to the sets and concepts / schemes IU / Woodson run, and to the conditioning college ball requires. I'm sure he'll get there, but the idea he would just come in and immediately play major starter minutes was a bit over the top imo.
  16. Thank you. The stone casting get comical at times.
  17. I don’t think we disagree, I’ve been saying we just don’t know yet how big his impact will be/how many minutes he’ll play and we just don’t. I also said as I think it’s clear he’s going to be good and will play significant minutes early, so not really getting all of this. No doubt he’ll play good minutes. But I do think some are discounting what JG showed end of last season and in the NCAA tourney and as a junior with another summer behind him. I will be very surprised if he’s not a major contributor
  18. Thanks for the thoughts. Yes, I believe we do, but end of the day we want this in the rearview mirror and don’t want any more interaction with cops or the system. It turns out that Harris County (Houston) is - no really - 40,000 cases behind. 40,000. The system is a total mess, the ADA’s are routinely non-responsive (thank God a new, responsible ADA was assigned, the first did literally nothing for months), and really we are just glad it’s finally over. Moral of this story, everyone should tell their kids to avoid any situation with cops, you just never know what will happen.
  19. Not directly related but further to our above conversation -- I am happy - very, very happy - to report that the charges against my son were all dismissed -- it took months after obtaining the body cam showing what he said was true, they arrested the wrong kid, and threw the wrong kid in jail, and subjected the wrong kid to months of being subject to a felony etc. -- but it's finally completely over with a full dismissal (a new ADA was assigned, and she had the charges dismissed within a week of being assigned).
  20. Race is definitely starting, it’s not a “may” or may not. Ren looks excellent— but if you put a junior JG against those same HS players Ren just finished playing JG would destroy them. Easy to sit back and say Ren is better. JG is a monster athlete with 2 years of college ball and 1 in Woodson’s system and just came off a strong NCAA tourney showing. Meanwhile Race has all the exp in the world and returns with his demonstrated play against the best in the B1G. We just don’t know how quickly Ren will acclimate to the college game against junior and senior bigs, it’s a big step up from HS no matter how good the HS comp. I’m betting Ren earns good PT and early, primarily backing up the 4, whether it’s 13-18 min or 20 remains to be seen, and we def do not know that he’s immediately better, in B1G play, than JG or Race, I doubt it, but i’m sure he’s going to be good
  21. Yeah, kick sand maybe not realistic but compliance should be (hopefully now is, no inside knowledge) working with the athletic dept / Bball program advising on the rules and grey areas, advising where there’s room and isn’t, instead of playing the “gotcha” role, antagonistic to the program, as it has in the past. And maybe it is now, with NIL, maybe it’s now a positive. Hope so, just don’t know one way or the other
  22. He won the dunk contest, jumped over 2 guys for the dunk, easily the best dunk according to people there. So yeah, bouncy lol.
