  1. I want to see Kopp shooting, that’s the primary reason he’s out there
  2. Well so far everyone but Kopp has scored, see he stands out
  3. Begs the question, why in the H would you get Mickey D’s coffee? ;)
  4. Check this out on OG He now has the most steals averaged (3.1) since 1991, and has 19 steals in his last 4 games. I mean, that's impressive. OG is a monster 2-way player. If he wasn't just playing his role, as a secondary or third scorer, he would be right up there with the guys who regularly get noticed as scorers/two-way players. Too bad D doesn't get talked about as much as O, the dude is top flight defensively.
  5. It's great that they'll be close up to experience the utter thrashing IU will put on MH. :)
  6. IU 87 More$&@# (edited by Staff, vulgarity ) - 54
  7. And maybe we're forgetting that RMK DID try to micro-manage IT, and they were butting heads, but recognizing the extreme talent and floor vision IT had, RMK relaxed the reins and largely gave IT floor control, and then he and IU went on a tear ultimately to the NC in his soph year. The Yogi comparison fits imo, Yogi was crazy erratic as a frosh, repeatedly would run into the lane with nowhere to go and leave his feet and then have to wildly dish it off while in the air. He ended up ok :)
  8. I don't see anything here. could be stomach bug or all kinds of other 'illness' things, and I don't see the U releasing a statement on illness when they're in trouble, Woodson hasn't exactly been shy about guys being in trouble before.
  9. JHS is the real deal, he's likely a OAD, need to enjoy him while he's here. Ren looks terrific, the floor understanding and positioning to go with his footwork, timing and ability is veteran-level, he ceiling is way up there, and agreed they're two of the best. But, besides these being exhibition games where they're clearly heads above the talent level of anyone on the other team and the other team players are significantly undersized, in the enthusiasm over these two what the other guys are actually doing on the floor is getting overlooked. Plus Minus leaders from last night: - Bates (+34 in 22 min), 5-10 FGs. His outside shot is not clicking, but he did just come back from a lower back strain/injury, and it's way, way early to be judging his shooting. - Galloway (+32 in 20 min), 3 assists (1 TO), 1 block. Only took 3 shots, but 1-2 from deep and it's also very early to judge his shot, but the form, on limited looks, looks pretty solid and better. - JG (+30 in 17 min), 5-5 for 10 FGs, 8 boards, 3 steals (lead team),1 assist - 1 TO. That's strong, he had a legit solid game, think it was Stu who said he wasn't forcing it which is exactly right, first game he's was forcing it, this game he looked a lot better and +30 with those stats is good play. No one else came close to those plus-minus numbers in this game fwiw (Ren closest at +23). So starters will be TJD, Race, Kopp, JHS, X, as they should be at this point (imo). I'd love to see a growing power/fast lineup of Ren, JG, Galloway, with either JHS or X running the team on-ball and Bates off ball. Growth needed but a lot of potential there imo. We're also seeing minute distributions which won't stick, this is experimentation and testing time. X played 15 min, Race 17. Gunn played 15.
  10. He’s easily one of the best front court defenders
  11. You left out Bates, we'll have to wait and see (of course) what he does in the games but he was a strong HS shooter, the talk from staff and players is that he's shooting very well, his shot looked very good at HH, and I'd bank on him shooting and scoring at a significantly improved level this season. Also, JG can shoot and in big moments, I'd bank on his low 30's percentage getting up to the 35% or so range, and I'm hoping he shoots more, he nailed a number of big moment - clutch shots last season.
  12. I'm thinking 2-2. UNC is a beast but I think we pull it out at home, probably lose away at X (but have the talent to win), we'll definitely lose @KU imo, and I think we take down AZ on the neutral floor. But I can see either 1-3 or 3-1. I suppose 1-3 would be acceptable, but imo not if we're laying claim to our pre-season ranking. Time to step up!
  13. I'm not sure I'm ready to say we can be a national contender, but I think we should and will contend for top of the B1G, and depending on the draw, health etc. that we should have a good showing in the NCAA tourney. I can't tell yet what our outside shooting is going to look like -- how much Woodson/staff will use it. With this team, we have scoring and playmaking we didn't have or we're just starting to grow last season, I don't see 3-point shooting as holding us back from contending in the B1G, but I am in a wait and see mode on how Woodson / staff utilize the arc -- and really how often -- guys like Kopp and Bates are shooting deep. Kopp is a set shooter, he's not going to be creating his own shots, but he should have lots of open shot looks, here's to hoping he's taking them, unlike last year, and that Bates -- and JG -- are taking and making more -- if that comes together, sky's the limit, imo.
  14. For me it's just hard to say at this point -- what's "realistic?" One way to look at it, we are a veteran-loaded team that last season was missing a stud-level guard/on-ball play, now there in JHS who the NBA scouts are raving about and who looks fully ready to be dominant, and another impact player, gained, minimally in Ren, who is at least very good, both major upgrades over who they're effectively replacing, and with the vets comes expected growth in Bates, JG and Galloway, JG having significantly improved his play at the end of season into NCAA tourney play (but whose continuing growth remains to be seen), Bates who got the summer props and we haven't seen him live due to injury, and Galloway who just maybe is now shooting better, and TJD is clearly primed for a big season and with less competition up front in the B1G. So we need the pieces to all come together and shine to take a major step up from the fringe tourney team we were last year, but the pieces are there.
  15. Didn’t say it was unusual, that’s common
  16. Great example - the JImi Hendrix Experience album, Are You Experienced. It was produced at a then new studio in London with then new recording technology, had a major impact going forward. If you get a chance, listen to the guitar solos in the song Are You Experienced -- they are all recorded backwards, and Hendrix dubbed them over in perfect placement, so that unless you're listening to the wild sort of fade in guitar work you wouldn't know it's backwards. Or Winds Cries Mary, recorded in just 20 minutes, which is just nuts, all instruments other than a softly played rhythm by Hendrix while he sings the tune, are over-dubbed. Btw, I recently worked through Hey Joe on my guitar, such a sweet song to play (built around pentatonic scale).
  17. In yet another stupid, senseless shooting, rapper Takeoff of Migos was killed here in Houston early this morning, at a party held at a bowling alley. Houston has become a dangerous city, but it's just a microcosm of all of this senseless gun violence that has spread across the country. Maybe one day people will wake up and realize how incredibly stupid all of this is and actually do something about it.
  18. He was pretty good from deep in HS iirc, good to see him expanding his college game
