Geronimo minimally provides good interior D and rebounding, and energy. Bates wasn’t on 1st half doesn’t mean he won’t be in the 2d, Kopp is not scoring and his D is absolutely lacking, and Race wad just off. Ren got 2 quick fouls, questionable, but not surprising, he was fouling against inferior bigs, reality check as good as he is this is a big step up and he’s a frosh, he’s going to go through learning not to foul better, experienced front court college players. But we need him offensively

I did some dumb stuff in college due to … I was in college

OG 13-18 for 32 and 10 boards tonight to lead Toronto to the W over Miami. Dominant, when he needs to be.

It strikes me as kind of similar too except here we're coming in ranked 12/13 and Xavier is not ranked (receiving votes in both polls though). I don't really remember what the national consideration was for that IU team at the time we played NC State. I'd rather not be the favored, ranked team coming into this first road test but I do think our guys are 'ready.' The last game was against a bad team, but man we played well and a complete game on both ends, and we seem to now have good on court leadership, with a really good second unit. Let's see them step up!

Early thoughts, I think this is going to be a close fight in the first half, and that our second unit is going to come in and open things up. Still thinking about the final score (for the prediction thread), and I can see Xavier winning the game at home, but I think our guys are now pretty well gelled and finally have discovered the arc and a significantly improved offense. I think we'll pull it out in the 2nd half.

Been waiting for the day when IU Men's/Women's do what UCONN did for a while with top Women's/Men's teams, and ours looks like it's a lot more sustainable. Moren is an absolute home-run hire, she's legit top flight, and Woodson looks to be settling into his groove, both growing their futures here with lots of reason for optimism on the continuing growth (and for the Men resurgence) of both programs.

(2022) PF Malik Reneau to INDIANA
HoosierHoopster replied to Stuhoo's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
He's a tremendous player and I'm really high on his upside, but I don't think he'll be a OAD. He's really good right now, but he'll be tested against veteran B1G bigs along with the high-level out of conf games we have coming (stoked to see how well he plays against them), and as good as he is he does not look, to me, like a player primed to compete immediately, this early on, for a 1st round draft pick, the athleticism and dominance required for that level of front-court play is a very high bar. -
I'm following player and team stats on a game by game basis, offensive and defensive, I'll post them at times, people often see what their biases drive or what they expect to see. JG's impact on D, as well as O is showing so far. He's looking strong inside and his perimeter D looks better so far Early numbers from first two games: DRtg (defensive rating) (per 100 poss) 1. Ren (63.8) (not counting Banks due to minutes) 2. JG (65.3) 3. Race (70.7) (not counting duncomb, minutes) 4. Bates (72.7) - he has been overall playing better D than last season, early still but better 5. X (72.8) ORtg 1. Trey (196.8) (not counting Childress) 2. TJD (72,2) (not counting Banks) 3. Kopp (81.1) - obviously from his 4-6 3pt shooting this past game 4. JG (65.3) 5. Bates (72.7) -- the impact of the 2nd unit is clear Per 40 Min Points: 1. TJD, 2. JG, 3. Ren 4. Kopp 5. Trey (not counting Banks, duncomb, Gunn) Boards: 1. TJD 2. Ren 3. JG 4. Trey 5. Race (not counting duncomb, banks) Assists: 1. X 2. JHS 3. Bates 4. TJD 5. Ren (not counting dumcomb, banks) And on a Total Basis - Points 1. TJD - 18 2.Ren 12 3. JG 10 4. Kopp 10 5. JHS 7.5
