This is from Borzello off the ESPN piece about whether it's time to panic in Chapel Hill (lol) So, is it time to panic yet? Losses happen, and Iowa State, Alabama and Indiana are all good teams. But the way the Hoosiers bullied North Carolina for most of Wednesday's game would cause me to panic if I was a fan of the Tar Heels. Indiana had 50 points in the paint, more than doubling up North Carolina around the rim. It shot 57% inside the arc and outscored the Tar Heels in transition. When North Carolina was at its best under Roy Williams, it was about two-big lineups and the secondary break. But Indiana was tougher, more physical and more aggressive. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/35153223/is-panic-former-no-1-north-carolina-three-consecutive-losses - Besides actually nailing it, what I love here is seeing IU as a 'tough' team again. It's been a minute since we were a legitimate tough team - the Vic / Sheehey et al years, and our front court players are the toughest, most physical IU team I've seen since before then. Really nice to see IU "bullying" UNC. (lol again)

Completely agree, but also understand they why -- the why is that JG hasn't, at least earlier this season, seemed to have gained Woodson's full confidence. JG is not the refined player that Ren is, I don't think anyone would say that JG, who came to IU having started playing organized bball late, has been fully versed in the team sets and has always shown full bball acumen. And last season Woodson limited his minutes until towards the end of the year, when he was really starting to shine, and then in his own words "discovered" him on the bench during the B1G tourney. Personally, I think Woodson's "discovery" was late in coming, what JG brings to the floor was already clear (there was one game staff was yelling to put JG in, he did and then dominated the boards), but that is what it is, and Woodson's confidence level in JG is still kind of new and developing -- he absolutely has a shorter leash for mistakes. I've watched Ren, Race etc. make terrible mistakes and then play through them, because they (deservedly) have Woodson's confidence. JG has really been killing it lately, on good averaged minutes he's in the top 3 in both defensive and offensive win shares, defensive rating, offensive rating, per 40 min and per 100 possessions scoring, steals, etc. And that's without leading the team in boards. I have full confidence in JG (lol), but Woodson's confidence level seems to be still developing. Really hope JG stays out on the floor in good minutes along with Ren, both are key to how well we play at this point.

JG has been stepping up all around, he either leads the team or is in the top 3 in most stats across the board, see the thread on it, he's been one of the keys to how well we've been playing and that's really not arguable. Don't think it's fair to him to say against a really good team he struggles, we've only had one game against a really good team this year, and again he was excellent in the NCAA tourney to close out last year. He's fine. Ren too -- but the thing with Ren that keeps getting overlooked is his foul rate, and it's been pretty bad lately, we need him on the floor, he's all-around excellent and sometimes our 3rd best player, but will he foul UNC's front court players? Hope not, need both of them firing on all cylinders in this game, and here's to hoping Bates' breakout game carries over Wednesday.

UNC just played a tough team to quadruple OT. And TJD wasn’t 100 percent in our last game. I would think UNC will come out fighting for their lives, they’re going to be fully dialed in, and they will be the best team we’ve played so far. I do think we should win in AH and that we’re the better team, but I’m not expecting a blow out, I’m expecting a hard fought game, and with the Hall’s support we pull away for the W — but I want to know TJD is fully healthy, we need him

IUWBB - News and Notes
HoosierHoopster replied to Class of '66 Old Fart's topic in Indiana Women's Basketball
I didn’t used to follow women’s ball, but Moren changed that. She’s such an excellent coach, and the women’s team is turning into a consistent contender. Great to see IU in good hands in both women’s and men’s teams -
