  1. Missing JHS is killing us, it’s night and day. Healthy we are a strong team, not a FF team but a SW16 team easily. The one thing that is bothering me is the unwillingness to play and further develop JG, it’s a mistake. Against this kind of team, running and scoring bigs, we are at a disadvantage without our athletic bigs. Ren is getting there , the foul rate will go down, JG needs more floor time
  2. It’s been kind of funny sitting here wondering why people freak out so much early, patience grasshoppers
  3. No there's no confirmation out there, we'll all be watching who's warming up lol. If I had to bet I'd say he's still out, but that's not stopping me from hoping -- Do think he'd make a significant difference in this game, AZ brings offense all across the floor and they run like gazelles. Btw Kenpom has us a 1-point favorite in this game iirc
  4. The odds guys have this game a pick em with Zona winning based on TJD being limited at the rim by their front court and their high output experienced international bigs and outside shooting being too much offense for our strong D to handle. It's a game we need other guys to step up to spread the scoring and floor. I hope to see both Ren and JG show up again, they are the kind of athletic bigs who can make a difference. Screw it, going with a role of the dice for my Hoosiers IU - 81 AZ - 79
  5. Yep - from their tempo, it's the fastest in the country. We actually stack up pretty well against them, at least with JHS in -- their eFG% is relatively low (103rd) to our guys, 5th in country (tempo free). You can see the Gonzaga-type stamp on them from Lloyd. Our D has a chance to throw them off their game, but again JHS has been a key part of that. The flip side (from eFG%) is much closer, at 42.7 Def eFG% we're at 14th in the country, AZ is 1st, at 61.3. On paper anyway we win that battle. Do think we stack up better than some think
  6. I'm sure this has been posted somewhere already but crazy to think we've never once played AZ. Should be a great game
  7. This is what I'm hoping for -- and it's really, for me, about seeing our talented bench get involved again. Both Ren and JG have been taken out of their games over the past few. Ren is working on not fouling talented bigs and JG hasn't brought the same level and hasn't had the minutes to do so. We need both to keep growing their games as the season progresses. I am now fully confident in Galloway and Bates. If we get good games out of Ren and/or JG that would be a big boost in this game.
  8. It was in humor- Gottlieb’s voice is the equivalent of watching Mariah Carey dance
  9. I mean, if he is starting to find a consistent deep shot, look out.
  10. Could be, all the more reason I hope to see both Ren and JG get in and play well. TJD is going to do fine, we need our other front court guys (in addition to Race) working their way back to contributing well
  11. Originally posted my thoughts in the prediction thread but now that this is up moving them here. I'd be more confident if I knew JHS was playing -- but kind of interesting to see some really pro-AZ predictions here. As of now, Kenpom has IU at #10 overall, #26 AdjO, and #11 AdjD, and AZ as #18 overall, #2 AdjO, and #64 AdjD. AZ is better than UNC, but on paper this looks a bit like the UNC game, UNC is (as of now) #10 AdjO and #59 AdjD. If we bring our top flight D to the neutral floor, we're looking pretty good going in. JHS's D, though, has been a big part of our overall D. Galloway is certainly strong defensively and just had a great game. Still want to know JHS is playing, but if he isn't, we're still a strong defensive team and our O is better (or at least potentially can be better without JHS) than AZ. I'm not seeing the reason to be so pro AZ in this game. This won't be a Rutgers game. Should be a tight, well fought game, imo.
  12. JHS has been key on both sides of the ball, Woodson himself has commented on how well he was playing even when his shooting is off, people tend to forget this team is largely last year's team without JHS and Ren, JHS is absolutely critical, that both Bates and Galloway showed up huge last night is fantastic, but that's almost certainly going to be unusual, and it was against Neb, not an AZ or KU. I find it kind of surprising that people are overlooking how much JHS brings, but then a lot of people tend to just look at shooting, and that's just one aspect of what JHS brings to the floor. I'm more focused on watching how Ren and JG adjust. We're going to need both as we get into B1G play, and right now Ren is fouling too much to allow him to bring that contribution he was bringing (and that really was to be expected based on his early play, the need to adjust to playing seasoned college bigs on the better teams), and JG has fallen off his early play and isn't getting enough minutes to bring the high level of contribution he was bringing earlier. Both are, imo, important to the team's real success down the road this season.
  13. Just got back from a business trip, man sorry i missed this game. So Galloway and Bates both raining 3’s? Fantastic
  14. So Illini beat a tough TX team and MD is currently tied with Wisconsin. I think I’m done listening to anyone saying hey the Big Ten is down this year, lol. It’s just always a grind
  15. Really hope JHS is playing, but after that Rutgers loss our guys should be fully ready and focused for this game.
  16. Really think people are just under appreciating what a difference JHS makes, the offense is much, much better with him and then there’s the simple fact that he’s been one of our best defensively. Yes, it was a lousy team performance, but we were missing a key player on both sides of the ball and it was our first without him. Not going to buy into all the handwringing that comes out here the second the team has a bad game. Team will move on, but we need JHS back
  17. Siap but what is JHS’s status with the back injury? His absence really hurt in this game.
  18. Was thinking earlier this season we had a chance to do what UCONN did for a while, develop M’s and W’s bball into legit top powers, we’re close, and I think our long-term outlook is at least as good and probably better
  19. Adragna is so good. Love the stop action pointers. And that floater atvthe end is killer
  20. Seniors showing up big
  21. MD by 7 55-48 with a little under 12 to go. Difference so far is the 3 ball, Hart 4-5, MD at 41 %
  22. Illini - MD should be a really good game
