Apparently he is not retiring and could seek other opportunities. Maybe he hates the PE deal Utah just got into? Maybe UM just got their guy (kinda doubt it but what other college jobs are even out there right now?)

Utah's coach just stepped down after 21 seasons. He will coach the bowl game.

I am sure plenty will disagree but I would like to see Alberto win the starting job next year and suspect he will. For depth purposes I think we add a QB but I'd rather not overspend on a big name when I'm sure there will be competent / experienced / serviceable guys who would accept a chance to compete knowing they may be QB2 at the start of the year. Prefer to spend that money on some big nasties in the trenches.

Just thinking, the Big 10 made some really good coaching hires this cycle. Fitzgerald at MSU. Campbell at PSU. Chesney to UCLA. MSU and PSU will do well. UCLA feels like a tough place to succeed. We will see who Michigan hires. I'd think Jedd Fisch. That'd be pretty good considering the carousel is basically over. Can't wait to see what we do in the portal.

I'd bet on Jedd Fisch for UM Some people think Matt Campbell really wanted this job. Timing is everything.

Yeah, I have an extremely hard time buying this actually having credibility. On the surface I could believe the logic of getting out of dodge before getting fired, but I don't think coaches like DeBoer have that mindset and walking away from Bama after 2 years is tantamount to admitting defeat. Highly skeptical that's his career play coming off a CFP trip and staring down the barrel of uncertainty at UM. They'd have to make him the highest paid coach and then some. I'd enjoy it only because it would really crush the self esteem of PSU fans around me IRL who hand to God believed they were getting him because they way overestimate their brand appeal. Verrrrrrry curious who they hire at this point in the cycle. Brian Kelly would be the funniest timeline. But I think a young up and comer is way more likely. What's Connor Stalions up to these days???

I first learned of this site while taking a class that Hutch was teaching at IU. He wrote me my faculty letter of recommendation to study abroad for a semester. His only condition was that I'd go see his son's band, who happened to be touring Europe at that time. Unfortunately I can't find the photo I took with him anywhere. He died about a year after I returned and we never got to reconnect in person, but did exchange a few emails over the months leading up to December 2018. I definitely considered him an early career mentor. He was an absolutely brilliant writer and an even more amazing person on a human to human level. RIP to a great man and Indiana legend. And thank you, 41, for getting this place started and keeping it alive! We appreciate you!

Allegedly: Got her pregnant and paid for an abortion. Supposedly he's been arrested for breaking and entering to the home of one of his assistants. Appears to be having a breakdown "showing suicidal behaviors" edit; supposedly the assistant whose house he broke into is the same woman he impregnated and he allegedly threatened to take both their lives... extremely dark situation. Prayers.

That was preseason before the alleged locker room issues started and supposedly Painter does not gameplan for exhibitions. IMO that's not super indicative of where things are at today for them. Granted, they're certainly capable of playing well and showed that vs UNC (3 point loss) and @ Louisville (8 point loss - 96-88, for comparison we lost by 9, 87-78). Home crowd may get loud of course but the way the boo birds were out vs. Gonzaga, Rupp may feel a lot like Assembly Hall did for last year's players. Way worse actually. We will see how IU starts in this game. UK fans think (rightly or wrongly, I truly do not know) that Pope can't connect with his guys and they don't really respect / buy into his leadership or style in general. I'd like to think we'll see IU come out playing like their hair is on fire keeping up the momentum from PSU and having learned some important lessons @ Minny and vs. Louisville. Important game for both teams. Can't have a start like Louisville. Can't have an all around effort like Minny. Gotta put it all together and play how we're capable for 40 minutes. Hope DDV can get them to do that in this game better than Pope.

Would the issue potentially be easier to fix with a more responsive owner? And if so, do we know if the owner is open to selling? Big thanks to the mod team for keeping us in the loop and doing what can be done to keep the lights on. The extended down time really showed a lot of us what a loss it would be to not have "this thing of ours" anymore.

ND was supposed to have a book signing at their campus bookstore with a guy who sat on the CFP committee and wrote a book about Frank Leahy. They cancelled it suddenly which apparently came as a surprise to him. In fact, he had to recuse himself from CFP discussions about ND because his book was thought to bias him in their favor. Another bad look for the Domers taking this self inflicted damage really poorly. Too funny.

Miles has not gotten minutes the last few games. He was not on the bench today likely because of having a bad case of the flu. Dorn looks like a very important part of the team moving forward!
