He had a tough game. Tons of family and friends there to support. LaLu had by far the most fan support between them and Link Academy/Brewster/MVA. Not sure I understand his very high ranking but he is obviously talented and had an off night. McNeeley accidentally stepped on him during a loose ball and he had a gash over his eye. Made a few nice shots, but tough night for him. Now... The Link vs. Brewster game was some insane guard play. Jasper Johnson has the purest stroke I've seen in a while. Has a lot of room to grow too. Tre Johnson was a beast. Jalen Shelley also stood out for Link. On the Brewster side, other than Jacobsen and the guard headed to ISU... I really liked what I saw from Dwayne Arisode (Junior), Sebastian Wilkins (Sophomore), and Elijah Crawford (Stanford signee). MVA took LaLu to the woodshed. Saw a ton of good guard play tonight... and, there was an IU scout in the VIP seating area. We chatted for a little bit. He was also spending some time with who I believe was McNeeley's mom. Trying not to get my hopes up too much but man, adding Queen + McNeeley would be awesome for next year. Especially with Reneau taking them under his wing

He got a T for shoving the hell out of Muya on LaLu after Muya fouled him hard. It was hardly a skirmish if you can call it that, and was super quick (some words that would make you blush were exchanged but they both walked away, no punches thrown). Happened right in front of me. Let's just say Derik Queen is NOT someone I would want to make angry, lol. Solano on LaLu didn't do much but he is another big a** kid. I'm sad to report Daniel Jacobsen is going to be a huge pain in our butt in a few years... and was a really nice guy, taking pics and signing autographs for little kids.

Seeing the PEwwww fans on Twitter getting so defensive about everyone acknowledging the way NU was blatantly jobbed makes me chuckle... "Obviously we're going to get fouled more, we play through the post and they play on the perimeter" "If the refs actually called every foul we'd have shot 100 free throws and NU would probably shoot the same amount they did" "Collins was just mad the refs didn't help him enough, he admits fouling is part of his strategy" ...I can't believe people are able to say that without laughing at themselves. 46-8 disparity! That's mind blowing. I guess the insecurity adds up after all those early exits at the hands of double digit seeds with a few capable guards on the roster. It will be sweet to witness their usual March flameout.

Yeah, that was classy. I bet his players love playing for him. Going off like that was mucho deserved after that FT disparity. That's why it was the Big 10 game of the year :) Northwestern played so damn hard. I'm not normally one to say the better team did not win but Purdue was seriously bailed out tonight. Very curious to see where this Northwestern team ends up.
-
This may be the B10 game of the year honestly.
-
Lol. Not a professional lip reader but I believe Collins told the ref he was something like "horse" ....doo-doo... tonight.
-
Chris Collins gets a ton of respect in my book tonight.
-
You've gotta give credit to Northwestern for battling here. Tough team.

"The verticality of Edey really effected Buie on that basket" Uhhh.... you mean the mid-air tackle? Gillis is probably my least favorite PU player ever. Hope he continues getting DUI chants until he's done playing CBB. I've got absolutely zero soft spot for PU lol. It sickens me to see them A) be good B) play 8-5 the entire B10.

Purdue looks like they're gonna win but NU is not dead yet. All it took was a +30 FTA differential.
-
Holy cow, has Hummel always been this much of a Purdue homer in his commentary or did that just start this year? I don't remember it being so bad until this year. But I can't stand to listen to him. He's not remotely objective, I don't feel like listening to the Purdue student broadcasters... which is basically what he sounds like
-
These stripes are AWFUL! That should be a 4 point play.
-
Purdue f'ing sucks. Really, you want those .2 seconds so badly? Great in bound play. Perfect look for Buie. Just didn't hit it. 5 more mins of ball.
-
Smart foul by Jones.
-
Jesus Christ you can't breathe within 3 feet of Zach Edey in a B10 game.
-
#3 on NU has shooting tendencies similar to CJ Gunn lol. Everyone else is content to watch Boo play hero ball I guess. I'd rather see that tbh.
-
Ridiculous call on #33. Couldn't be more straight up.
-
NU having 0 FTs in the second half is insane. That 3 Boo hit was a straight up pro shot. The bad shot #3 took totally gave PU the momentum. 0-0 game. 90 seconds! Fun one to watch

Super relieved to hear Malik and X may not be too badly hurt after all. Someone asked if we turn a corner after yesterday. Still not sure about that at all, but slightly more optimistic that we see better/more consistent effort the rest of the way, especially if Leal has solidified a rotation spot. The guys were torn up yesterday when it seemed like X was done. They know the season is on the ropes. After having a scare like that, gotta think they understand they have to leave it all out on the floor each and every game the rest of the way. Leal's leadership is first class... now with the merit of playing behind it. Ware also battled like a warrior when the team needed him. His time in Bloomington will be brief, but I'm happy we get to call him a Hoosier and think he will make us proud at the next level when his time comes.

No idea where they'd be slotted for the tournament, but pretty wild to think for as frustrating as this year has been... a few bounces go differently vs Kansas and Illinois and the narrative is completely different. Shoot, if we handled business like we should've vs RU too, we'd probably be sitting pretty. Coulda woulda shoulda... but didn't. I'd personally be a lot more patient this year if I was more optimistic about who we are retaining/bringing in for next year. But they battled through adversity for a win tonight and that's always good to see.

I agree with everything you've said. Just a minor tidbit to clarify - apparently XJ and Walker go way back. Walker mentioned that XJ hosted him on a visit to Pitt, I think. And that they stayed in contact since then. So XJ was definitely a factor in Walker landing here. He definitely deserves some rotation minutes on this team.

Not sure if the team turns a corner here, but agree, I'm good with Leal getting plenty of minutes/starting from here on out. Kid's earned it. Certainly seems Leal is setting himself up nicely if he wants to pursue the coaching route some day too based on how Woody speaks so highly of him. Sign me up for a COVID year of Tony.
