Not to mention... Mackenzie Mgbako is going to be a lights out shooter next year. I feel pretty confident saying that. I think he will be 35%+ on hopefully pretty high volume. 40%+ on the same volume as this year. But hopefully the offense is a little different. I'll say... for all the worries about shooting, which are absolutely valid/legitimate, my bigger concern is defense/rebounding.

Ballo to opposing B10 centers:

Interesting tweet from Kopp on the portal... A few things from the picture that stand out: He had 2 bigs as a question mark for IU, same with team chemistry and the B10 He had "good PG" as a positive for IU (lol) Also listed the "NBA offense" and "values shooting" as positives for IU. In that first picture, Utah actually ranks more highly on the criteria he was considering but the appeal of the "stage" at IU was too much for him to pass up, keeping in mind that he ultimately was responsible for his own individual success $$ is a primary motivator in this market, as it should be, I suppose... But I look forward to a more sustainable environment some day.

I would put the odds of adding Conwell to that group at pretty much 0% unfortunately. Still good enough about to be cautiously optimistic... hopefully round out the haul with two good bench players.

My own speculation based on the random late mention of Arkansas... maybe Ballo's team got the offer up from 1.2 to 1.4 or so and we commit before we leave/don't take any other visits. Currently #1 player in the portal

Yup... the fact Rice and Carlyle who we've prioritized, both have 3 years of eligibility left, says to me that the staff is planning on being here past next year. Maybe that's stating the obvious and/or I'm looking at our prioritization of those two the wrong way... but I'm personally not counting on a coaching change any time soon at this rate.

When is his UNC visit scheduled for? I feel like seeing UL right after IU, doesn't necessarily hurt us... UNC would be a threat though Guess Amari Williams may still be in play... I wouldn't mind that at all

Very true, Calhoun always seemed like more of an after thought... even in the Northeast, he was more of an afterthought / never got the same kind of attention that Boeheim and Wright had. To be clear, it's Bob Sr. who allegedly has the issue with Calhoun, not Dan. It is very well known that Calhoun and Geno, the women's coach, hate each other. Dan Hurley has even said in media interviews during this last run that he wishes the women's team well and has huge respect for Geno, but "obviously have to watch what I say about him when Jim Calhoun is around." Or something to that affect. I have read on the UConn boards that apparently Calhoun is bothered by the fact Dan sometimes talks shop with Geno instead of going down the hall to his emeritus office or giving him a call. They keep it cordial in public but I don't think there's a very genuine or deep connection there. My favorite Calhoun moment, aside from the classic "Not a dime back" comment.

Was hopeful we could sell Hickman on that with the home town connection and NIL. He would have really elevated the roster in that role IMO. Guess you're right it's not too surprising though. Hopefully we find a different knockdown shooter to play in a small-ish role.

Between Edey leaving, new schools joining, and all the transfer portal turnover (especially with the Pac 12 being raided more or less) I am hopeful we see the start of a new play style trend in the B10. Conference will certainly look very different next year.

Georgetown fans I know are not too happy with Cooley so far... he's got a lot of work ahead of him this offseason

Kinda surprised Zed Key is transferring down, though he will probably wreak havoc at Dayton. Words that will come back to bite me: I don't immediately worry about Bradshaw being in the B10, especially if we land Ballo.
