  1. I’ve been wondering about this quietly. B1G is getting a ton of respect for its depth. Is it possible that it’s not 10 really good teams, but instead the parity is just the fact that the conference has a lot of just okay teams?
  2. I really feel like the loser of the Michigan/OSU game tonight is out of the tourney. 4-7 in conference just looks bad. I know speculation is high on number of teams from the B1G to get in, but I think 12 is unlikely.
  3. It’s been 20+ years since I was a student. Do they do any kind of marketing to the students for big games like Thursdays? I remember them posting fliers and giving out t-shirts or free Pizza Xpress for a couple big soccer games against another top 5 team. Didn’t know if they did anything like this to drum up attendance from the students for women’s hoops games like this one.
  4. Yeahhhh. Maybe my questioning that 2-seed the committee gave to Maryland was not as warranted as I thought. Ha. Gonna be a tough game Thursday. Hopefully home court advantage is big and the crowd comes out to support in our biggest home game of the year.
  5. FSU hangs on for a 6-point W at home. Still hard to believe IU beat them by double digits way back when. UNC’s tourney hopes are officially done if they were still holding onto them. Two more games against Duke for them. They might not even be eligible for the NIT.
  6. Storrs, Connecticut says hello as well. Suburb of the booming metropolis of Hartford. (Population roughly around that of Evansville) UCONN doesn’t struggle on the recruiting front.
  7. For the most part it looks as you’d expect. IU is right there, but there’s obviously some recency bias affecting these. I mean, Arizona did just beat UCLA by 30, which got some attention as it should have. But their RPI is 27. (IU is 14th in RPI) So obviously the committee put a lot of emphasis on what happened last week. Also, Maryland is good, they showed that against IU and Northwestern; but a 2-seed seems high. They have one less win than IU overall, and they played a really weak non-conference schedule. The two ranked teams they did play before conference, S. Carolina and NC State, they lost to. Not sure why they are getting so much love. On a positive note, if IU can beat them on Thursday, you’d think we would basically be a straight swap with them for that #2 seed since our overall SOS and record are better. These things are only for conversation purposes at this point in the season. Lot of hoops to be played. We control our destiny and a win Thursday puts us in good shape to secure two home games in the Dance.
  8. Okay, had not seen them play this year, so I wanted to respond “we beat South Carolina, why wouldn’t we be able to hang with Oregon.” I would have been wrong. Oregon is damn good. Putting it on UCONN on the road. They have some serious length and athletes. Let’s do why we can to avoid their region and worry about them when we get to the Fonal Four eh?
  9. I’ll get my thoughts out there quickly, because my wife has started noticing a newfound attention to my phone and I’m hearing about it at home: -Patberg. Girl is tough as nails. If her teammates haven’t nicknamed her floor burn yet, they should. She has a certain “Tommy Coverdale-ness” to her game that I love. -Grace Berger had it going early and was really a key to not only building that lead, but then keeping it as well. Had a heady and1 and then a great drop pass to Gulbe for a layup a possession later that kept Purdue from ever getting it to danger territory. Admittedly, my prediction came up a little short on the 20pts and 60% shooting. But I’ll take 15 on 50% all day. -Great win against a tourney team on the road. Hostile environment. Good for confidence. -GREAT clock management to kill this game off in the 4th. They had several times where they smartly pulled it out instead of going to the hoop. Killed almost the entire shot clock on every possession starting at about the 7 minutes to go mark, but still executed and got a good shot or drew a foul. And excellent free throw shooting. -One thing I think they need if they’re gonna beat a really good Maryland team Thursday, is better production from Holmes and Gulbe. The Terps are a lot more athletic in the front court, and we’re gonna need better production out of the post to avoid scoring droughts that could let Maryland go on a run we can’t recover from. Really great win. I’ll second what @TheWatShot said, and say I’m really enjoying watching this women’s team this year with the men’s team being what I was brought up on, but being seriously difficult to watch at times this year. Very glad I’ve taken the time to give this team my attention, because it’s exciting stuff and really fun to watch. Now let’s go get the Terps and put ourselves in position to win this conference title!
  10. Ask and you shall receive. That was a savvvvyyy basketball play with the shot clock running down.
  11. Okay okay. We knew they would make a run. It’s a rivalry game. Tighten the screws on the defensive side and get a couple quick buckets to start the 4th and let Purdue press to try and make things happen.
  12. No disrespect intended. It was said tongue in cheek. I know I’m relatively new as a contributor. I guess my take on that is she made her public statement that seemed pretty sincere and she said in the interview that it was primarily due to a family member whose health had deteriorated. All we can do is take her for her word on it and assume that’s all there is to it unless something else comes out. The timing to me kind of supports that it just really may be a family thing and there was some immediacy to the decision because of her family members condition. But I don’t know anymore than the next guy.
  13. Game thread ladies and gents. There’s a whole thread about this. As my niece would say, “Let it go, let it gooo...” ;)
  14. Great first half on the road! Took the crowd out of it early. Defense has been locked in. THAT’S how a top 20 team should look. Gonna have to take their punch which the refs will undoubtedly let them have in the form of a mini-run in the third quarter, bend but don’t break, and close ‘em out. P.S. I’m not gonna say I called it on Berger coming out hot, but.... Amirite??
  15. Aminu doesn’t strike me as a first-mover based on his talent and options. I feel like we are gonna need to get a commitment from a Kaufman, Lander, Furst before he’s going to seriously consider coming on board based on our current team’s performance. He will need to know he’s got complimentary elite talent to join.
  16. Think we are gonna come out fired up in this rivalry game. Feels like the team got a bit of a wake up call last week after maybe feeling some insecurity about how good they can be after the three game skid. Rattled their cage. Found a way to win as good teams do. Got some unexpected news that a few members of the family are leaving. Gotta believe the ones that remain in the locker room have sat down and looked at each other and said, “this is it guys. We are all that we’ve got, and the people in this locker room are the ones who believe in this thing and want to be here, and are all united towards common goals.” Sometimes adversity can be alarming as a fan, but unifying for a locker room. I think this team knows the opportunity they have, and understand that if they want to achieve the goals they have for themselves, it has to start now, and it has to be all or nothing from everybody that’s a part of it. Bold prediction: Grace Berger doesn’t go 0-10 from the field. In fact, bolder prediction: she scores 20+ on 60%+ from the field shooting. You know it’s been eating at her the way she shot the ball against Wiscy. And if she’s the true shooter I think she is, she’s itching for this game to start so she can get that taste out of her mouth. Big game. Sets us up for a showdown Thursday with the Terps. I think this team makes a statement tonight on the road against a tough Purdue team who will be up to the task as you’d expect with a rivalry game. Go get ‘em girls!
  17. I won’t ask. But I am curious as to the eligibility rules for someone who has played professionally for women’s hoops. The NCAA is a fickle bunch. I know this was something that came up with a lot of international soccer players IU recruited who were part of a professional team in Europe’s academy. It probably has changed ten times since then, but I’m aware of a couple situations when the NCAA determined that if they were paid, but the amount was less than why could be reasonably determined to be The amount of which average room and board would cost, they remained eligible despite being a professional abroad. I think the justification was that even though they received wages from a professional club, that it could be classified as the equivalent of a scholarship to a private school (i.e. Monte Verde Academy, La Lumiere, etc). Several international guys came and played for IU’s soccer program despite playing pro or semi-pro for clubs oversees. But the NCAA changes its mind on things with the wind, so that’s no indicator of her eligibility. You’d think she and her parents, or guidance people, would have already looked into this if she’s posting a top three like she knows she has the opportunity to make a choice to attend one of the schools though. *Shrugs shoulders*
  18. Chase Brice, backup QB for Clemson announced his transfer to Duke. I had Duke as a potentially good fit for Ramsey. Good education, right size and pedigree program for his skill set. Maybe Fresno St. is the most likely place as some have mentioned.
  19. Selection committee will reveal the official top 16 seeds at halftime of the UCONN/Oregon game tonight, but ESPN took a shot at the top 4 seeds in each region. Lady Hoosiers made the list as the last 4-seed. Overall, 4 B1G teams seeded 4 or better projected. I don’t know that you’d ever “hope” to be in UCONN’s region, but it would be nice to get ourselves into the 3/4 seed in the Fort Wayne region. https://es.pn/395FLZw
  20. Definitely a bad day to try and start this thread, but I’ll keep it going for a week or so to see if it gets any momentum. But great game that impacts our Hoosiers going on right now between Rutgers and Minny. Tied at 61 heading into 2OT. Hoping Minny pulls it out.
  21. LSU hangs on for a 59-55 win over #15 A&M. Pretty impressed for a football school at the size of their crowd for a WCBB game. Think they crack the top 25 in the polls. Good win. Helps IU probably move up to #15-17.
  22. Really good game going on between LSU and Texas A&M on the SECN (ESPN app) if you’re looking to kill some time before the Super Bowl. A&M up 1 on the toad with 5:40 to play.
  23. Elvis Juice?? I need some further explanation.
  24. Wanted to start a thread for conversation about the Women’s games going on around college basketball, or general discussions that relate indirectly to the Lady Hoosiers. I’ll kick off the thread with a couple observations from today. UCLA bouncing back, up big on #19 ASU. Was really surprised seeing them get beat by almost 30 at Arizona on Friday. The top half of the PAC 12 is crazy talented. South Carolina smoked Tennessee by 21. The Lady Hoosiers win over them (their only loss) on a neutral court continues to look more and more impressive. Michigan beat #19 Iowa, and unranked Florida beat #13 Kentucky. If unranked LSU can hold on and beat #15 Texas A&M, IU might be looking at a jump up to the 15-18 range after two home wins last week. @Class of '66 Old Fart @WayneFleekHoosier @Aaron @mamasa @Hoosierfan31 @Basketballhead24 @LamarCheeks
  25. Not sure who wrote the article, but there was an expanded quote from Bendu that said she actually has a family member who had a health condition that had deteriorated. Not saying there isn’t anything else going on, but to make that public, I think that was the driving force behind this transfer, not necessarily an issue with the staff.
