  1. Undefeated may indeed warrant a 1-seed regardless of the team’s strength. But I have to say I would take that region of the bracket all day over one with Baylor as the 1-seed and Duke as the 2-seed. Maybe it’s just optics, but I would take potentially playing a relatively untested San Diego State team on the way to a final four over a traditional power 5 program who has played and beaten brand name teams all conference season and is stocked with McD’s All-Americans. Nothing against SDS either, I felt the same way earlier in the season when bracketology had us as a 9-seed with a potential matchup with 1-seed Butler. Yes please was my only reaction.
  2. I would love, love, love this kid at IU. But he just has the feeling of a kid that will play his way into a late-to-the-game Kentucky/Kansas/Duke offer that he accepts the same day. Hope I’m wrong, but seems to be our MO the last few years to pray for a top 20 recruit for two years only to be outbid (literally and figuratively) at the end of the recruiting process by a big name coach.
  3. Thanks for the insight. Is Moren a tough personality to play for that you know of? Does that have anything to do with the frequency of transfers? I know very little of her, but she does look pretty stoic on the sidelines. Maybe not very player friendly? (Although I don’t get that impression from the interactions with her players or the comments of former players like Tyra Buss)
  4. I meant it to express my confusion about the transfer. I’m just getting started around here as a poster, so still learning the ropes. :) I read a bit more about this in an article and now realize that Bendu has a family member in deteriorating health, so I’m more understanding to that situation. But hearing about our heir apparent to Ali Patberg, Shaila Beeler, transferring has me still perplexed. I wish we had someone with inside knowledge of the women’s program like we have for the guys; because I’m wondering if the recent losing streak and struggles against lessor teams are a part of something that has been festering internally similar to how the men’s team let things spiral out of control last year. Because it doesn’t all add up. Best team in program history. Star PG gets granted a 6th year of eligibility. Big time transfer will be eligible next year. Attendance is up and interest (I’m an example) is at an all-time high. Yet, zero recruits signed for next year, while several in-state recruits went elsewhere. Team starts playing with less effort to start games and a hits 3-game losing streak followed by underwhelming play at home against the bottom of the conference. The best recruit in this year’s class (was #18 nationally) leaves mid-conference play. Seems like there may be more than meets the eye somewhere in the team or coaching staff right?? Maybe I jinxed them. As soon as I become a loyal follower, things go to hell. I mean, my first semester at IU Bobby Knight WAS fired and 20 years of mediocrity ensued. Maybe I should stay away.
  5. What is going on?? Something stinks about this and Yeaney’s announcement. We are a good/great team, and have seniors to learn from and eventually take over for in a year. What are we recruiting like Kentucky, where if they aren’t featured as freshman they bolt for being disrespected?? I didn’t think this was as big an issue on the women’s side and it was more common to play sparingly your fresh/soph years. Your team is 17-5 and a Top 20 team. If you think you should be getting more minutes, earn them. I’m sure Moren would love to be a Top 5 team because playing her freshman over her Junior PG made them a more dominant team. Man, just when I got excited about the women’s program and started giving them my attention the wheels start to fall off. Edit: looks like IU athletics roster page already has Shaila off the roster along with Bendu. https://iuhoosiers.com/sports/womens-basketball/roster
  6. I don’t really understand this one at all. She’s part of a top 25 team, one that gave her a full year of support getting her rehabbed, and plugged her into a very good lineup and started giving her minutes even though she’s still finding her basketball legs again and was clearly not the same player yet. With no significant recruits coming in next year, it’s not like she’d be falling well down the bench. She would have as good a chance as anywhere else to earn starting minutes and contend for a conference title and a run in the tourney. Just doesn’t make a lot of sense. It also isn’t like when a player transfers so they can go to a team where they will get their name in lights to bolster their draft status, because she doesn’t seem like a WNBA candidate. Head scratcher. I’ll say this though, Moren had better be hitting the grad transfer market HARD this offseason. We have the potential to be a top 10 team next year with everyone returning and Danielle being eligible; but we are gonna need some depth. And for the sake of the positive momentum of the program, we need a big year in 2020 and some big recruits for 2021 when we’ll lose some serious talent. Mackenzie Holmes and Jorie Allen are a good foundation, but will need to replace Patberg, Berger and Gulbe with some good young talent for them to play with as upper class(wo)men. Coaching staff will need to earn their money to keep from missing out on this historic time for the program and falling back to the bottom of the pack.
  7. Good to hear Izzo wasting his time recruiting a kid who’s just going through the motions until he commits to Duke. Less time he will spend trying to poach Indiana kids. Go get ‘em Tom!
  8. Appreciate that LC. I didn’t start watching the box score until the second quarter, so I didn’t realize we got down 18-2 either. Yikes. Wonder how many timeouts Moren called to try and keep that from happening. I’ve been thinking about something, and maybe somebody on here has a better idea or opinion. After watching several games this year like last night, and the men’s game against Maryland over the weekend when they couldn’t miss - is Assembly Hall maybe becoming a comfortable place for shooters? Admittedly, I live in South Carolina now and don’t get to many games. But with all the new arenas that have been built over the last ten years that seem to be built more in-line with the look and feel of an NBA arena, where you always hear have tougher “sight-lines” because of the depth behind the basket, corporate boxes around in the eye-line, and more LED advertising - is it possible that SSAH and its classic feel, is providing a good shooting atmosphere and could be a reason it seems like teams come in and can’t miss on us? I know that maybe isn’t proven out given our men’s team and their inability to shoot, but it was something I’ve been wondering. Don’t know if if the theory holds any water, but.
  9. Anybody know where to find highlights or a replay of the game? I didn’t get to watch it because I won’t pay for B1G+ but would love to see that second half and overtime.
  10. Gutsy W. We outscored them 37-17 in the 4th quarter and OT. No, we should not have put ourselves in position to be down 16 to this Wiscy team at home; but they responded and made some big shots down the stretch. Proud of the Lady Hoosiers. Didn’t give up. Kept fighting. More than I can say for our guys some nights. Now go stomp the Toiletmakers and let’s have ourselves a battle for the B1G at home with Maryland next weekend.
  11. The B1G is a grind. And IU is definitely getting everyone’s best shot this year after an impressive preseason. Sometimes you have to win ugly when shots aren’t falling. They scored more points in the 4th quarter than the entire first half. Not how they drew it up, but a comeback win from down 16 might be a better shot in the arm than crushing to a 20 point win. Remember this is not a historically dominate program. They are building something. Might have some stumbles, but you have to stick with them.
  12. Heart. Man, of all the games to be on BTN+ and for me to have to follow on gamecast. What a nice comeback by the lady Hoosiers. Clutch shot by Penn. Gotta get this one in OT now after clawing it back from the jaws of defeat.
  13. Got it to one possession despite some teriblleee shooting. I’m following the gamecast, but didnPenn really just miss three 3-pointers in a row in under a minute? Sheesh. Gotta D up and steal this one like the ranked team at home that we are.
  14. Grace Berger couldn’t go 0-10 on half court shots, this is an anomaly. Gotta think we have one more run in us. Just hope we don’t run out of clock before it happens.
  15. Slow starts may finally catch up to this team. Need to get Berger and Gulbe going in the third quarter.
  16. Didn’t go that crazy, but that was a no-brainer play in my opinion. Vegas was way off with that line. I definitely took advantage.
  17. Time to transfer.
  18. Crazy thing about this season, as bad as we just played, and as down as most are about the progress of the team, we are still only 2 games out of 2nd place in the loss column. Weird year. Lot to work on. Short memory and move on to OSU.
  19. They lose Stevens, Watkins and Jones. They’re gonna be terrible. It’s comparable to NW last year. I hope all 25 of their fans get their fill of competitive home games this year.
  20. Seth Davis talking like PSU found the secret of life or something. This is a blip on the radar. They are gonna be back to a mediocre-to-bad team again next year.
  21. We’re being outscored 31-13 in the second half. Yikes.
  22. Damezi Anderson is not a three point shooter. That rumor needs to be squashed.
  23. Y’all need to chill on the shade for Green every time he misses a shot. If you haven’t noticed, we give him the ball when it’s late shot clock and our offense has broken down because he is one of the only guys who can create off the dribble. And an open look from 3 within the flow of the offense isn’t a bad shot. Franklin and Anderson are 0-5 combined. At least give Davonte a chance to DO something to earn your negativity.
  24. It would be so much more tolerable if there was at least some consistency to the referees in the B1G. One game you practically need an assault charge to get a whistle, then the next the call is being made before the contact. Pick a lane. Side note: Joey Brunk with a fresh hair cut looking pretty fly for a white guy.
