Indiana vs Nebraska 1/14/19 6:30pm FS1

How many years of being almost irrelevant until we become Georgetown, UCONN or any other team that used to have consistent success but now people don’t even really think about in college basketball? -

I was using an arbitrary number to represent a group of fans with an old school way of thinking. Sorry. I’m 38 myself, no spring chicken. But I’m sick of hearing how guys deserve minutes because they are always giving everything they have, when everything they have looks like a walk-on playing at a school with five national championships that should have four stars at the end of their bench. -

I do think Archie feels some pressure to play him because of all the love he gets for his “hustle.” What he brings to the court does not make up for what he lacks in my opinion. Why does IU always have to be the program with a walk-on playing major minutes every year? -

Not if they they do what they should have done two years ago for Billy Donovan, and sign a blank check and give it to him and Brad Stevens and say, first one to write their name on it can have it. -

This game is basically going, like our game against Maryland should have gone, when we got out to an 18 point lead on the road. Except they’re actually closing it out. -

Honestly, if we didn’t have so many 50+ IU traditionalist fans who get all giggly just because a guy dives on the floor, we would have made it harder to continue playing McRoberts once we actually recruited some four stars. How many walk-ons do Duke and Kentucky play significant minutes?? -

Remember when McRoberts’ defense wa as reason for him to be on the court despite having to play 4 on 5 on the offensive end? Kid just gets blown by and loses his man more often than not. -

Man, Romeo with a wide open three to cut it to 2, to down 11 is a big swing in three possessions. -

This team honestly just really lacks a knock down shooter or two from being a much more attractive offense. We finally have a post game, and slashers. Imagine if we had Hornsby or Zeisloft to camp in the corner. -

I want to agree with you; but part of me thinks you don’t “learn” defense in games. If Archie is watching him defend an offense he knows in practice and still seeing him not be able to get in position, I’m thinking he doesn’t want to take the chance of him in games against live competition. Too much of a liability. -

Were we in on any of their 2019 class recruits? -
And in front of a raucous 8,037 fans. I don’t understand the draw for kids that choose to go there. I get it. LA is close. But you play in a high school atmosphere, in a mediocre conference, and in a time zone where most of the country never sees you play until March.

(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
JerryYeagley23 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Yeah, I went and looked. I guess I don’t really understand the logic there. Example Michigan is ranked higher than us with two 4 star guys. Wouldn’t one five star and one four star be better than that?? Size shouldn’t matter either really. I mean, would you rather have two five star guys or 4 three star guys? I think quality is more impactful than quantity. -

Admittedly haven’t looked, but there would be 12 classes better than ours after adding KB?? Who else has two five stars already locked up? -

I mean this in the best way possible, but Romeo is just too “nice” to be a program changer alone. I know it’s his personality and humble is admirable. But you almost have to have an edge to you to really enforce your will on an opponent and take a game over. I just don’t see a killer instinct. -

Badgley went #2 and Wendell Carter went #7. This Duke team has guys projected to go 1, 2, 3/4. That’s a very big difference. -

We’re they the number 1,2 & 3 ranked freshman in their class? There’s a big difference between the top 3 nba draft picks and the 7-10 range. -

Really?? I love Ro, and want him to be successful at IU, but I’m not taking him #5 if I’m an NBA GM with those numbers. Honestly, no bias, you’d take Romeo over guys like Happ and Rui Hachimira? -

Serious question for those that followed his high school career: did Romeo shoot well from 3? Because I have very little faith every time he takes a **** from behind the arc. For a projected lottery pick you’d think a wide open three would be good all day right? -

On a non-hoops note, ESPN is shameless. That Bob Knight 30/30 debuted over a year ago. The fact they are promoting that and re-airing it this week is a joke. Sad. -

How can you even tell when Coach K is upset? With all the Botox and face lift procedures he’s had, dude can barely move his eyebrows. -

College teams year over year are mutually exclusive. This team has only been beaten once by a point to Arkansas. I agree, this drubbing might wake some guys up on THIS team. -

Gonzaga starts red shirt seniors/Juniors and senior grad transfers, and Mark Few has had a few more than 39 games to install his system. I’m not saying I’m proud of our effort or that we look good by any means. I’m saying we start two freshman guards who have both been described as “shy guys” against a team with 3 McDonalds AA’s on the bench. It isn’t time to throw in the towel on the season. And next year really is shaping up to be special IMHO. -

Has Romeo honestly looked NBA ready to you at all this season? I love that he’s humble and soft spoken, but I haven’t seen any fire like a guy projected to play in the NBA next year. I think he comes back for another year knowing he’s getting two five stars to come leave a legacy at IU similar to Cody. Don’t forget, we have a Top 50 freshman out injured, and a really good young PG getting valuable experience this year. Listen, Duke is an NBA G-League team. Let’s just admit that and stop wondering why we can’t compete. If the one and some rule doesn’t exist their starting lineup wouldn’t be here. Archie is fine. Our system is fine. We’re just getting smoked by the McDonald’s All-American team. Take your beating and move on. Kentucky did.
