  1. Rutgers and NW going to OT. Great finish to the game. One complaint. Jeez Rutgers. I get that you’re trying to create some home court advantage at the RAC since you’re historically not a good program - but turn your PA system’s volume down. The announcers literally have to scream at each other to talk during timeouts when the PA system is blaring music. Then they actually can talk at a normal volume once the game resumes even though the 8K fans in the stands are cheering. Just looks kind of cheesy to need to use your sound system that much to try and create atmosphere.
  2. Agree on all fronts @Aaron One comment as it relates to your point on the Ladies’ ability to hold onto the lead today: I didn’t get to watch the game today, but something stuck out to me looking over our box score. It seems like our lack of depth is really starting to affect our ability to close out games. Potentially the most immediate impact of the two transfers is showing up right now. We only played 7 players more than 10 minutes today, 9 saw any time at all. Nebraska played 12 players today, and 9 played more than 10 minutes. Love Ali and Grace’s motors, but they’re putting out a lot of effort for 37 minutes a game right now. I think we might be running out of gas in some of these late game struggles holding leads. Now, I think we can compete with the lack of depth come time for the Big Dance, because you’ve basically got two games in three days, and then five days off; but getting through the grind of the B1G putting that many minutes on your starters is gonna have some effect and closing out games, especially on the road, might be a struggle for this squad right now. In addition to the minutes played, it’s also worth noting that this was the Lady Hoosiers’ 4th game in 10 days. A tough stretch. They only have 3 games in the next 14 days, and a nice six-day break in between OSU and Minny; so some time to get their legs back for the home stretch heading into the B1G tourney. Just think right now we probably have some heavy legs which is resulting in some of the poor shooting and sloppy play in the second half of games.
  3. Thanks for pulling this together OF, I know this isn’t easily done. Do your sources for this file happen to have any ranking information for the 2021/2022 offers that we still have a shot with?
  4. So, looking at the remaining schedule, it looks like 4th in conference is the most likely finish for us, which I think I’m okay with. It feels like Iowa @ Maryland on Thursday is the last truly significant swing game in the standings for the top four teams. I’ll be rooting for Iowa, because assuming the B1G tourney for the women is seeded the same as the men’s, I would much rather play a #1-seed Iowa after winning the 4/5 game against Rutgers or OSU, than have to take on Maryland again before the final. Honestly, Northwestern has the easiest schedule remaining, and should probably end up second in the conference behind the winner of Thursday’s Iowa/UM game. I think we will only lose one more game coming home, @Minny or @UM on their senior night more likely. Today’s win was big even if it wasn’t pretty, because it was a road game and likely locks us into the top four in conference.
  5. Wow. Didn’t see that scoreline coming when I got home and checked the scores. Okay. Well. Nebraska isn’t a total pushover, so a road win keeps us on a good track. Not sure I will watch the replay if I can even find one though. Maybe just the first quarter.
  6. Away from the house, but looks like we came out with some fire in our bellies. Like the box score with everyone getting involved. Still feel like by tournament time we need Gulbe/Holmes to be able to make larger contributions against teams with the quickness to stay with our guards. Would make us more balanced and prepared for different teams we will potentially face.
  7. I’ll try to remain cryptic, but those who may or may not be involved in this decision do not have plans to target an up-and-comer should there be another change at the top of the men’s program. They understand that they have shot and missed using this philosophy and the next hire will need to be a home run hire that has a “triple” floor. The list is short, and their preferences already know they are wanted, and how much ($) they are wanted. To think that today’s singular performance is in any way a catalyst, or that anything changed after today’s game that wasn’t already being worked on behind the scenes, would be near sighted. There seems like there is one or two others on these boards with access to people in the same loop, saying the same thing in not so many words if you are paying attention.
  8. We could cut the electric bill for a few days over Christmas break in Cook Hall and probably come up with that. IU took in $123M in revenues in 2018. A year in which we lost 12 straight games. We made a PROFIT of $6.6M. That’s without even having to tap into an eager donor base who would gladly chip in to put us back on the map. The money is there. It’s an administration decision right now not to spend it to turn things around. https://amp.indystar.com/amp/2815129002
  9. Respectfully, and without outing sources, Stevens is not attached to coaching the Celtics and knows his place historically will still be as a hall of fame college coach in the not too distant future. He has learned to tolerate the NBA, but he’s not an NBA talent personality and doesn’t enjoy dealing with them. I stand by my statement based on conversations, that if the administration wanted to, they could open the wallet and get the right guy. They know who “those guys” are, and the number it would take to get one of them tomorrow. They have chosen not to take that route because they don’t see the basketball program being a national power as a priority. Take that for what it’s worth.
  10. It isn’t a secret or rocket science. The administration just doesn’t want to prioritize being a blue blood basketball program anymore. If you really believe that there is no amount of money that could convince Mark Few to leave Gonzaga you’re not living in reality. UK refused mediocrity and went out and bought Calipri, UNC refused mediocrity and bought Roy Williams. If IU reallyyy wanted to, they would open the wallet and go get Brad Stevens, Billy Donovan, Mark Few or Tony Bennett. It’s only about the money. That’s it. If you don’t believe that’s the case you aren’t informed. We could be elite tomorrow. Our administration doesn’t see the need to be, even though the money is there. I hear people talking about Archie’s buyout clause being $17M, like that’s a driver. Do you really think that amount of money is even statistically significant to our basketball program??? One or two boosters could cut a check for that tomorrow if it meant Final Fours. Bottom line, our admin stopped caring about being a blue blood basketball school and instead feel like being a top Business program, ballet school and communications school are what’s more important.
  11. What did you guys see? Did I miss something that has something to do with TJD coming back, I’m confused?
  12. Honestly, I’m so thankful that I have a 16-month old and a wife that I love these days. Makes it easier to turn off a game like that and move on to what really matters. Used to be this game and day would have made me furious until the next game. Now, I just make myself an old fashioned, and go upstairs and watch my wife wrestle around with a baby with marker on his face and feel fine. Agree that it’s nearing time to start floating the idea out there to a few coach’s agents to gauge interest. This isn’t a strong program and it won’t get better without support, which it has lost. Toast to all the other 38+ year olds that are lucky to have other things in their life other than IU basketball to make them happy. To the younger guys, it’s coming, and it’s called perspective and it feels great.
  13. A lot of blame to go around, but he shouldn’t get a pass, TJD played a terrible game today. Five-star, best player on the team and he played soft. Be nice to see him play with a little more fire. “We don’t get him the ball” - so demand the damn ball. At least look upset and let your teammates know you want the rock.
  14. Actually he had interest, but we wouldn’t pay him what he wanted. Calipari money and he would have been at IU.
  15. Turnover out of the timeout, Archie should have yanked him immediately if he was a good coach. Unacceptable.
  16. I don’t care if that’s who started the game, that lineup was 100% not the lineup that should have started the second half down 11 points.
  17. Al Durham playing little to no defense whatsoever.
  18. Agreed. WTF. Give the man a mic and let him say a couple words for the love of god.
  19. How do I find ESPN News on Apple TV??? I can only find the game in Spanish and it’s brutal.
  20. Looks on my Apple TV like we are gonna have to watch the beginning of the game in Spanish.
  21. Juwan Howard May end up being a good coach, he’s already showing he can recruit. But he’s got to learn how to get after the refs in the B1G. Couple different times a bad call or no call from the stripes, and he stood there looking confused. If you want the make up call or for it to be called the rest of the game you have to learn how to throw an Izzo/Fran fit so the refs know. Especially at home.
  22. Give me a 8/9 seed for IU in that East region all day long.
  23. I saw Syracuse picked up a five-star commitment today for the class of 2022. How do they keep getting these recruits? Boeheim is like 80 years old and has had mediocre teams for years now. And didn’t he announce he was retiring a few years ago, or am I remembering that wrong?
  24. Just out of curiosity, because I have not kept up with women’s hoops recruiting or followed the game that closely until recently, I went and looked at the roster of Maryland. Talk about a talent discrepancy. They have easily 8-9 McD’s All-Americans on that team, and some girls that didn’t even play that were Top 50 recruits. Lordy. That’s a tough gap to close. Especially in the women’s game where height and athleticism is such a differentiator.
