(2021) G Luke Brown to Ball State

Lmao I just realized how that statement came across. We were both seniors at IU when we dated; she had attended Park Tudor for high school. -

I may be misinterpreting the rules, but i'm not sure that is entirely true. According to the document regarding IHSAA eligibility requirements, "You do not transfer from one school to another primarily for athletic reasons." Also, "You, your parents or guardians have not been influenced by any person to secure you as a student at a member school." The way I read these requirements, you'd have to be able to afford to go to Park Tudor to transfer there. I dated a girl that attended Park Tudor my senior year at IU and, IIRC, her tuition was around $18K a year. -

Don’t forget that 5’11 point guard from a 2A school. He had a decent career for us... -

12th and 13th scholarship players are kids that might be able to contribute 10 minutes a game by their junior or senior seasons. Luke Brown isn't that kind of player. If we recruit him as such, we'll most likely be watching him succeed for a team that isn't IU. -
(2019) SG Lester Quinones to Memphis

You really can't compare Memphis to Bloomington. It's one of the most dangerous cities in the US and the university is surrounded by 3 of the worst neighborhoods. I didn't know this when I typed my initial post, but Penny almost lost his career because he was hit by a stray bullet in Memphis. -

Yes, he had 4 good years and may very well have ended up being a star. But all 4 of those years occurred almost a decade before these kids were born. If you asked 10 random prospects to name 20 NBA players throughout history that they would consider to have been superstars, i'd be pretty surprised if a single one of them named Hardaway. If he hadn't been an AAU coach, most of them would probably respond with "who?" -

Lets be real. He went to the finals because Jordan left for two years. And Hardaway was considered the best high school player in the nation. Teams didn't pick high school players very often back then, and definitely not that high in the draft. If one-and-done didn't exist and Penny had the same accolades playing in this era, he would be top 3 and probably first overall. -

I'd say superstar is a bit of a stretch... He made the all-star game 4 times which puts him in the company of Shawn Marion, Paul Millsap, Latrell Sprewell, Rasheed Wallace, and about 20 players that these kids have never heard of. As far as navigating the path to the NBA in a way that almost no other college coach can... he was the national high school player of the year. It's not like he was struggling to get there and found a way. I'm pretty sure any coach can say, "oh, you want to get to the NBA? Just be the best player in the nation." -

I enjoyed watching Hardaway but here is what I don't get: I BARELY remember watching him play and I'm 31. If I barely remember his tenure, there's no way these kids remember him as a player. I mean, I could understand kids being drawn to an ex NBA player for a coach if he were a superstar or at least held records (someone like John Stockton), but Hardaway doesn't fall into either category. He was a solid NBA PG coaching at a mediocre school in a lackluster conference. And, if that doesn't sound appealing enough to you, it's also bordered by Orange Mound and Parkway Villages which are great places to visit if you're interested in being shot. -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
Bigred3588 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I didn’t quite phrase that comment correctly. I didn’t mean to insinuate that he should make him play. I meant to insinuate that he shouldn’t be sitting with the team. And that’s the kind of message I would want Archie to send to future recruits. If you’re willing to put yourself before the team, Indiana isn’t the right fit for you. Maybe my views are old school, but my allegiance is to the university, not the program. And I want to watch players who are there to represent the university. To me, that’s more important than our record. -

I really hope Archie isn’t allowing him to sit because of the draft. I’d lose a lot of respect for him if that’s the case. -

Big difference between sitting on a bench and getting paid millions to sit on a bench. -
(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky
Bigred3588 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Checked the Kentucky board and looked at about 15 posts. Three of them were “not sure he’ll be a good fit.” ”how tall is he? Don’t care to look it up.” ”What position does he play?” -

It’ll be interesting to see how he feels about Cal when Cal’s giving some freshman his spot next season -

If this were true and it was a reputable source I’m pretty sure we’d have the same info from a source on our end. -
Fifth year senior. Freshman mistake. Story of our season.

Terrible Smith and terrible Devonte are back smh

Bigred3588 replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Basketball Recruiting Forum
Well...I’m really hoping IU can land Brooks but I won’t be too disappointed in losing out if this is the reason. I just don’t see Brooks as a one and done type of talent and I’d rather not see a guy come in and force things trying to prove that he is. That said, I hate losing Indiana players to UK and I’ll feel bad for Brooks if I’m right because that means he’ll ride the bench for a season or two and have to transfer because he bought into Cal’s BS. -

I loved my time at IU but man did we have a different sporting experience. I started in the fall of 06 and graduated in the spring of 2011. I had to watch the collapse of the EJ team followed by 6, 12, and 13 win seasons coupled with a football team that routinely lost to Ball State. God I hope those days are behind us for good. -

We have to be on the verge of some kind of team record for points in the paint. -

Normally this game would be a one-bid conference game and we’d be delayed on the back end in a matchup with tourney implications -

I feel like this is the longest half of basketball I’ve ever seen. Like, that multiple-overtime Uconn/Cuse game a few years back didn’t seem this long. -

Haha when he went to the line I looked at my gf and said “Damn, 4 points on 1 possession.” When I saw his form I looked back and said “correction, 2 points.” -
