I was at the game tonight and had Leal with 16 points on 5/5 shooting, 2/2 from 3 and 4/5 from free throw. Very efficient game, doesn’t force anything and has a VERY high basketball IQ. Moves really well and showed moments of explosiveness and handled the ball well. Watched him closely on defense and he had the assignment of guarding CN’s best player Blake Barker who averages close to 20 and completely shut him down and held him to 7 points. He’s not going to come in right away and contribute major minutes but I could see him contributing the way Franklin has this year. This kid is going to be a great 4 year player who may go down as one of the most beloved Hoosiers. BS is so well coached and it just surprises me that Holmes never made the leap to college.That guy GETS IT! Also, Conner Hickman (2021) on BS is legit. Only has 2 smaller D1 offers but I would be surprised if he doesn’t get major looks this summer. I can’t see Archie offering him anything more than a preferred walk on spot given the loaded 2021 class but I could totally see Hickman going to somewhere like NW and being a pain in our backside for several years. The public doesn’t know this team as well as its fans, that’s why. People will still bet IU because we’re at home and our record doesn’t look that bad on paper especially compared to Iowa’s. I’m with ya. I tried to be patient and give Archie the benefit of the doubt and made excuses for him last year and the beginning of this year but I just can’t anymore. This is unwatchable and is not INDIANA basketball in the slightest. This job is just too big for little Archie and he has given us no reason to believe in him anymore. I’m officially off the Give Archie Time train...the train is going nowhere. Unless a miracle happens over these next few weeks, it’s time to pack your bags Arch. I’m almost certain Damezi is gone. I know for a fact his dad had been talking to Toledo and Wright State preseason. He has no future with this team and I don’t think anybody will be sad about it. If he does in fact choose to transfer as expected, I wish him the best. This team desperately needs a sharp shooter transfer whether it’s a Juco or grad transfer but you HAVE to find a shooter in the offseason or it’s going to be more of the same next year. I’m a Pacers fan but it is never appointment television for me, especially during the regular season. I will watch every Pacers playoff game but once they’re eliminated, I’m done with the NBA. Spoke to someone last night who said he talked to both Green and De’Ron at the Pacers-Lakers game a month ago and asked the guys what they thought of Archie and he said neither of them were fans. How true this is, I don’t know, but it definitely seems like Green has quit playing. He used to be our best on the ball defender and now he seemingly lets his guy go right past him to the basket like clockwork. I’m at the point where I’d like to see Green benched or dismissed and heck, give some of this minutes to Cooper Bybee. At least he kid will play hard and can shoot. 9-11 in the B1G would get us in and maybe even 8-12. Conference records aren’t even looked at when it comes to the selection committee anyway. The truth of the matter is, the bubble is going to be very weak this year and each game that IU plays, their SOS will keep rising and our schedule has all but 2 Quad 1 games remaining meaning win a few and our NET looks pretty decent. Out of the 11 minimum remaining games, just need to find 4 and they’re safely in. Do I think they can get 4 more wins, yes. Do I have confidence they get 4 more wins, no. Best of luck to Ramsey wherever he goes. Would love to see him succeed at a big time program if given the chance. Wherever he goes, that program is getting one hell of a kid. Now we need to hope Penix has a great offseason in the weight room that translates to a healthy/full season. IF he can stay healthy, we could have a very special team. You hit the nail on the head. The spiral all started once Durham gunned a 3 only 5 seconds into the shot clock as we were up 7 with 3:30 to go...if he pulls that out and we don’t even get a shot up and waste the full 30 seconds, we win no doubt about it. Maryland got a long rebound and a fast break and 1 immediately following that inexplicable shot from our experienced upperclassman. Had a bad feeling following that sequence.
