Michigan would need to lose their final 2 games (Home against Nebraska), or Purdue would need to lose to Rutgers (at home) and we would have to beat Wisconsin. Odds aren’t in our favor. Nope, we are locked in. Purdue still has to beat Rutgers and win possibly 2 in the B1G Tourney. Our next game is a Quad 1 game so it won’t hurt if we lose that game. And even if we fall flat on our face against Nebraska, we’re not going to move down that much since the committee looks at the whole body of work. Currently stand at 5-9 vs Quad 1, 4-2 vs Quad 2. 10-0 vs Quads 3/4. 5 wins against top 25 teams. Compare our resume against the other “bubble” teams and our resume looks solid. The #1 bracketolgist had us at a 9 seed (#35 seed overall) prior to tonight’s game. LSU was just a few spots ahead of us and with our win and their loss, we’ve moved up at least another spot if not a couple spots. We have plenty of breathing room. It would take teams like Northwestern/Georgia/Georgia Tech winning their conference tourneys for us not to make it in. Plus IU in the tourney = $$$ for the NCAA. Rhode Island, Georgetown, and Cincy (all bubble teams) lost today and Wichita State (another bubble team) is down 13 to SMU. This game is not a must win at all. Take care of business at home and IU is in without a doubt. All they really need is one more win to solidify their spot. Clemson is not getting in and Texas most likely is not getting in either unless they do some serious damage in their conference tournaments or win it. Oklahoma and Providence were both projected in the tourney anyway, they just helped their position with bubble teams behind them. On the contrary, Florida, Arizona State, and Texas Tech all lost to bubble teams or teams that won’t make it. They were all close to the same seed line as IU. Losing a Quad 1 road game is not going to hurt IU in any way. This game is only an opportunity. Win and your ticket is punched, lose and it’s no big deal.
