I seem to remember Kareem saying that had Sam Gilbert not "taken care" of him, he never would've gone to UCLA.

And soon -- if not already -- we'll be at the "If he doesn't go to IU, whoever gets him is cheating/dirty/morally bankrupt/corrupt" stage!

I'm guessing that means his final high school season is approaching.

I was there, too. And think -- back then we actually sold out a few games! I just can't imagine us selling out a game these days. Mallory had it going good, but just couldn't sustain it. Is still boggles my mind how everybody caught up to us in basketball, but we haven't done the same in football. There was a 20-25-year stretch there where Wisconsin couldn't beat us. When Penn State came into the league, that was an automatic W. Now, we can't beat Wisconsin and Penn State is an iffy proposition at best. But they continue to beat the crap out of us in football. I think in the past 50-60 years or so, we have a total of four wins against Penn State, Michigan and Ohio State. You'd think by accident we'd get a W every now and then against those schools. But nope. Doesn't happen.

Gonna channel my inner John McKay on this (only the old-timers will know to whom I'm referring): We're making up for our lack of tackling by not covering anybody.

Dumb: DB not looking back and getting called for interference, nullifying an interception. Dumber: Coach losing his mind after an obvious penalty and getting an extra 15 yards tacked on for unsportsmanlike conduct.

This whole replay deal continues to confound me. On the review, he clearly caught the ball -- it never hit the ground. Yet they say there wasn't enough evidence to overturn the call. The evidence is that the ball never hit the ground!

Asked this girl what she wanted for breakfast today. Her response? "Hawkeye stew!" Then she said, " Let's go Hoosiers!" Smart girl ...

This is always what puzzles me in these situations: He was the star of the football team. He could've had all the consensual sex he wanted. Why did he have to assault someone? Or try to initiate sex when she was sleeping? ... It's the same with Cosby. He was the No. 1 star in the world. Why drug women?

I sorta get the "debt of gratitude" bit. I'm all for thanking Tom Crean for what he did for IU -- initially. He came into a terrible situation and a few years later, we were ranked No. 1. That's great. Thanks, Tom. But he couldn't sustain that success -- and he was paid very, very handsomely for doing what he did. So why does anybody owe Tom Crean an apology? Because he ran a clean program and ended up getting fired? Isn't he supposed to run a clean program??? ... Should he apologize to us for being the eighth-highest paid coach in the country -- at $3.1 million per -- and missing out on the NCAA tournament every other year and letting the state's top talent go to Purdue and Michigan State and Kentucky and UCLA? Should he apologize for being the eighth-highest paid coach in the country and not reaching one Big Ten tournament final? Heck, we only even reached the semifinals once. Should he apologize for being the eighth-highest paid coach in the country and not coming within a sniff of the Final Four -- even when, by far, we had the best team in the country one of those seasons? Nobody associated with IU owes Tom Crean an apology for anything! What a load of bunk! Dakich remains full of B.S.

I have 14 correct each week. Do I get any award for consistency? Or maybe for mediocrity??? LOL!

And to think -- we got 3 years of probation because of text messages. Friggin' text messages!

I just saw a video of the coaches, players, etc, being introduced -- and it wasn't Chuck Crabb doing the talking. Did he retire from his PA duties? I can't imagine our fellas taking the floor without Chuck saying, "Ladies and gentlemen, your Indiana Hoooooooooooooooosiers!"

Games like this scare me. It seems as if we should be up about 40-7 right now. When you're dominating on the field, but not on the scoreboard, you're asking for trouble. RU had a couple big plays early -- it wouldn't take much for them to be right back in this.

You're supposed to dribble behind your back in basketball -- not in football!
