No BTN+ for me, so I haven't seen a minute of play yet -- HH scrimmage or tonight's exhibition. Justin had a nice stat line tonight -- 5-5 FGs, 8-9 FTs, 3 assists, 0 TOs, 7 drawn fouls -- 18 points. He had only two rebounds but what might be most important -- he didn't shoot any 3s. That is not his strength. ... I really hope he's turned the corner with his attitude and realizes while he's a great athlete, he doesn't have the greatest skill set and is at his best when not forcing things. He's a sharp, well-spoken kid and if his head is on straight, could be a real asset in his final two seasons.

Glad to see he's playing (although I'm not actually seeing it). ... I thought Archie ruled him out for tonight

Know the feeling. Lost my dad to it 2 1/2 years ago. He was an athletic director at a small high school for years. He'd make schedules for 10-15 varsity teams and all the JV and freshman teams (back when there were freshman teams), hire officials for all the home games, hire people to take tickets, work concessions, etc., at all those home games, paint the football field, line the track, get the baseball field in order, etc., etc., etc. ... And by the end, he couldn't write a check. People who haven't seen this don't grasp its magnitude. Considering what my family went through, I know how feasible it is -- yet it's still very difficult to see a brilliant man like RMK reduced to what he apparently has become. Very sad, very tough disease. -

Archie just said Devonte and Rob are no-gos for tomorrow night. I think he said Rob has a lower-abdominal issue and Devonte has a hamstring problem. Damn -- why are we so snakebit with injuries! I hope Rob's not gonna be hampered all season like he was last year with the concussion. Don't know how good we're gonna be, but would love to see us be able to compete with everybody relatively healthy. -
Fire or ‘Way to Go!’ Tom Allen?

To be honest, why would Nebraska have any respect for our football team? We've traditionally been one of the worst Power 5 programs in the country. It's been a while since their last championship, but they've won five nattys, so they've traditionally been one of the best. It's almost the exact opposite in hoops. We've won five NCAA titles and Nebraska has traditionally sucked, so I don't have a whole lot of respect for its program. When they came in to Assembly last season and whipped us, they could've had the same argument. And I'll say this, even after today: I'd feel a whole lot better as a Cornshuckers' hoops fan under Hoiberg than an IU football fan under Allen. -
Wow, I agree with Old Friend! I was never a big fan of the Steelers growing up, but watching this video made me develop a huge appreciation for Chuck Noll. He never gave motivational speeches or tried to fire the guys up. His thinking was the habits and discipline you develop in practice are what will determine if you win or lose -- not a bunch of rah-rah BS. ... I think Rocky Bleier said Noll's usual halftime speech was: "OK, we've made our adjustments. Now let's get out there and get to it." ... I actually get embarrassed sometimes when I see CTA ranting and raving on the sidelines, slapping hands an high-fiving the fellas. I feel like saying, "Teach these guys proper fundamentals and don't worry about the motivational crap and you'd be much better off."

Guess ol' fussy britches is getting a mandatory 5-day vacation.

Obviously, I didn't see the game, but what is concerning to me (among a handful of things) is that arguably our worse shooter -- Justin -- took the most shots. Although he did make the only 3-pointer he took. But for the most part, if it's not a dunk -- it could be argued that it's out of his range. His monster Michigan State game obviously was an anomaly -- the offense simply cannot run through Justin.

OK, so I checked out the box score from the super-secret scrimmage and have what probably is a dumb question about what might be a super-secret stat. What the hell does "FD" mean under fouls? I've seen hundreds of basketball box scores and don't recall ever seeing that.

Fred Krueger might disagree. With that razor-blade glove, he was hard to stop. -

Side bet on this. If we do lose ... 1) How soon does the "Fire Archie" thread get started? 2) Who starts it? -
I think this is missing one: Lounge. I thought Louisville played its games at "Trixie's Lounge."

We've typically been good for one B1G road win a year. I think this has to be it if we want to get to six wins. Can we win at Nebraska or Purdue? Sure. Will we? I doubt it. Can we win at Penn State? No chance.
