  1. I also thought there might have been an extra step there.
  2. We have four 3s. I'm not sure we had that many in our past four games combined!
  3. I'm sure there are better examples of how he was a master of his craft, but I love the beginning of Spirit of Radio ...
  4. I'm not trying to sound like a hard-a$$ or anything, but I'm perfectly fine with Archie threatening to boot players or telling them to transfer. I would guess about 90 percent of the guys -- if not more -- who played for Knight were told they were gonna get kicked off or that they should transfer at some point. I do think he probably went over the top at times, but that's just the way he was. ... You'd love for players to be self-motivated, but I guess this group isn't. I recently saw an NFL Network bio on Chuck Noll. He wasn't a rah-rah motivator kind of guy, and essentially said: "If I have to motivate you to play hard in this league, I will fire you." ... However he did it, it worked. He went 4-0 in Super Bowls and coached arguably the greatest NFL team of all-time.
  5. Yep. Then he followed a little later with, "You'll think last night was a f---ing picnic!!!" ... Man, I'd hate to think what last night was like. I'm guessing that picnic didn't include Kool-Aid or hot dogs and hamburgers.
  6. If what you write is true, it will be REALLY interesting to see how the fellas respond. I guess it depends on how mentally strong they are. They could come out, want to kick a$$ and play ultra-inspired ball. Or they could pout or cower into a corner and essentially, trash the rest of the season. ... With Cheaney, Reynolds, the Grahams, Anderson, Meeks, Bailey, Henderson (the players during my time at IU), you knew the response would be positive. They would take out their frustrations on the opposition ... With this crew -- it's very difficult to tell.
  7. This cracks me up. ... I'm not married, but have been in a handful of relationships over the years. It reminds me of a conversation I had with one of my girlfriends ... Her: Where do you want to go to eat? Me: I don't care. You pick a place. Her: I want you to pick. I want you to make a decision. Why do I always have to pick? Me: Because anything is fine with me, but if I pick, you'll complain. Her: That's not true. You make a decision. Me: OK, let's get Chinese. Her: But I don't want Chinese ...
  8. Lane Kiffin and Mike Leach in the same state? Is there room for both??? ...
  9. Of all the things about which to criticize Archie -- and there are plenty -- we're gonna fuss about gum? Really? That's like Crean with the clapping. To me, it's just very silly and trite.
  10. I really hope this ends being as big or a bigger point spread than the Illinois game. I absolutely can't stand all Toiletmaker teams, but women's basketball might just be No. 1 on my list. Let's win big, ladies!
  11. This is the photo to which people could be referring. It apparently came late in the game after a big TJD bucket. As far as what it means or doesn't mean, judge for yourselves ...
  12. Archie needs to channel his inner Norman Dale once he gets into that locker room ... "Basketball is a voluntary activity. Any of you feel you don't want to be on this team, feel free to leave right now."
  13. Most probably are too young to remember this ... "I began by telling the president that there was a cancer growing on the presidency and that if the cancer was not removed the president himself would be killed by it." -- John Dean, 1973 (I think it's time for Archie to try to cure the cancer).
  14. Every time this team takes a step forward, it takes THREE steps back. I don't get it. We were up by 11, ready to put our foot on the gas and pull away -- and now we're losing.
  15. The inevitable drought has come. And there's no rain in sight ...
  16. The reason we're in such a pickle? We didn't hire Steve Pikiell. Rutgers is 3-1 in the B1G right now -- 12-3 overall. Fire Archie and throw a bunch of money at him. That's the answer. We'll be back among the elite in no time!!! Not sure, however, if he claps or chews gum. Those, obviously, are detriments.
  17. Man, when Grace Waggoner came in at the end, I had to do a double-take. ... I wondered if somehow Tyra Buss got another year of eligibility. They could be twins! Even wear the same number ...
  18. Would love to see this again on Thursday. Want to really squash the PUs.
  19. Is she not even on the bench?
  20. I found the interview with Justin very interesting. He was named IU's male athletic scholar of the month. Guess he's close to making the Dean's List. He was wearing glasses -- looked very studious. I'm paraphrasing here ... Fisch: Do you like to play video games? Justin: No. That's not my thing. Pretty much everybody except Al and I play 'em. Fisch: What do you like to do? Justin: Nothing. We're pretty busy during the week, so I just like to take a step back. Fisch: Do you have a girfriend yet? Justin: Nah. Not yet. Seems like a really quiet and introspective kid. Maybe even a bit shy ... And seems to be very serious about his education.
  21. Looking forward to watching this. Maybe everybody will play great, we'll win by 25-plus points and everybody can stop fussing about the men's team for a couple hours. Who am I trying to kid? We won't stop the fussing for even 5 minutes! ...
  22. Very interesting hire ...
