Prediction League (Game 7 - Butler 12/19/20)

My prediction Hoosiers: 0 Bulldogs: 0 because I have a feeling there ain't gonna be a game. But if somehow, there is ... Hoosiers 69 Bulldogs 64 -

Check out O$U's record. That's good enough to get them in the B1G tournament title game, isn't it?

Keyontae Johnson is from my neck of the woods. Man, I hope he comes out of this OK.

Indiana vs Purdue GAME CANCELLED AGAIN
LamarCheeks replied to Trish's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
I'd say football -- only because it's been two weeks since the last game for both, and they've hopefully had time to get issues taken care of. But I'm not the sharpest pencil in the box! -
That one's pretty easy to figure out, given the long arm of that state's largest university -- they'll become the Cleveland Buckeyes.

If so, that creates an additional worry -- Liberty going after CTA!
-
Makes you wonder, too, if they didn't already have someone in mind -- meaning CTA. Malzahn's record wan't bad. He was 68-35 at Auburn and lost a national title game and an SEC title game (win that and you're most assuredly in the CFP) and a couple years back, signed a big contract extension. ... Auburn was interested in Allen twice before for its DC -- once when he was at South Florida and right before he was named the top man in Bloomington. ... Yikes, this one has me fretting.
-
Don't know why, but Auburn firing Malzahn worries me. I could see them ponying up $7M or $8M a year and making CTA a nice offer. That might be hard to refuse. Keep in mind, Tracy Smith is from Indiana, loved IU and supposedly was where he wanted to be, too.

Seventh in AP! We need to follow Ohio $tate's strategy of not playing!
-
Sure, things can change -- no doubt about that. But I would think coaching a few divas for a few months of the year would be preferable to the nearly year-round task of having to travel all over the country and beg 16- and 17- and 18-year old kids to come play for you. I think Donovan is done with that and I would think Stevens probably is as well.

Yeah -- I know the basics about Dolson. In fact, he grew up about 30 minutes from where I did -- and is just a couple years older, so we came from the same high school conference and were at IU at the same time. I just don't know about his ability when it comes to making decisions about hiring/firing coaches. For the past few years, there have been two coaches I would've given my left arm to see come to IU (well, not really -- though since I'm right-handed, I could probably manage ... ), and those were Stevens and Tony Bennett. And that was well before Bennett won his natty. But apparently we kicked the tires on him before hiring Crean and he wasn't interested. And unfortunately, the timing didn't seem right for Stevens. Just as he was taking Butler places, Crean wasn't quite on the firing line yet. Then, he was off to Boston -- and I just cannot imagine he'd ever return to college hoops.

Prediction League (Game 6 - North Alabama 12/13/20)

Hoosiers 88 Not the school Kane Wommack is leaving us for (sniff, sniff) 61 -
Agree with this. ... A year or so ago, someone posted a postcast with an "insider" who seemed to know his stuff -- don't recall his name, however. I can't say for sure how reliable this person was -- because all "appear" to know what they're talking about. He seemed pretty knowledgeable, however. But he said that after Crean was let go, realistically there were three candidates for IU: Chris Mack (Xavier), Chris Holtmann (Butler) and Archie (Dayton). ... Mack preferred Louisville and Holtmann wasn't interested in the fish bowl that is IU. And I don't think he was necessarily implying that Archie was our third choice. When Texas Tech made their run a couple years back, many were saying "hire Chris Beard" -- as if he would just drop everything and crawl to Bloomington had we called. It doesn't work that way anymore. For the record, I liked the Archie hire (then again, I liked the Crean hire and hated the Tom Allen and Teri Moren hires -- so my track record isn't all that great. LOL!). I'm still willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. I hope he can point us in the right direction and keep us there. Otherwise, I'm not sure what the options are. And I can't say I know a whole lot about Scott Dolson, but the fact that he's never hired a coach is a bit of a concern to me.

IUFB -- DC Kane Wommack to South Alabama
LamarCheeks replied to LamarCheeks's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Latest story I saw said it's uncertain if he will stay with IU through the end of our season. I'm always torn on those things. It's always difficult to tell if someone who's leaving is committed to finishing up strong at their old gig, or if they've already checked out -- so to speak. He's 33 -- and will become the youngest head coach in the FBS. -
IUFB -- DC Kane Wommack to South Alabama
LamarCheeks replied to LamarCheeks's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Well, it looks as if it's pretty much a done deal. As Hawk Harrelson (I detest him, BTW) might say: He gone ... Thanks, Kane -- and best of luck at USA -
Last year, we lost our OC. This year, it could be the DC. Wommack previously served as DC at South Alabama. Both the Jaguars and Arkansas State are in the Sun Belt -- which is FBS. I must admit, I never thought I'd see a Hoosiers defense play like it has this season. And whod've ever thunk programs would be looking to our staff for head coaching candidates. Yet another credit to how the program is faring under CTA.

Has it already been nine years? Even though we played the fighting Caliparis, I'm just glad the B1G didn't step in and declare Ohio State the winner. LOL!
