  1. TJD still laying bricks from the line.
  2. Man, TJD got down the floor in a hurry after that block.
  3. OK, so I'm happy with that play -- but if your EMU, how do you let TJD burst down the line wide open like that. Not a soul around him.
  4. It was 33-19 when I wrote that. By my calculations, that's a 14-point lead. But thanks.
  5. Hard to complain about a 14-point first-half lead, but we'd be up by 34 if we knocked down those wide-open 3s.
  6. Sorta through Rob drew contact on that drive. Rewound it a couple times -- still tough to tell.
  7. Was that just an 18-foot jumper from TJD!!! Wow!!!
  8. Didn't they either used to open the season with a 24-hour marathon -- or have one a week or so into the season? I thought that was kinda cool, to be able to watch a game at 2 p.m. -- or 2 a.m.
  9. The ND, Georgia and Texas football programs are poor comparisons, imo. They didn't have that one iconic coach that they've been trying in vain for years to replace. That's why Nebraska is an interesting comparison, particularly when you look at after years of middling success, they finally got the alumni hero they wanted as coach -- and so far, it hasn't been what anybody expected. I'm hoping Woody is different. Will he be? I have no idea. He seems to be pushing the right buttons, though. He got Matta on board and seems to have built a pretty good staff. Plus, there's no doubt he knows his sh-t.
  10. State University of Indiana 58 State University of New Jersey 56, 10 overtimes By the time the game is over, only the players, coaches, officials, game-day workers and press remain -- and even some of those have left.
  11. Boys from Bloomington 81 Boys from Ypsilanti 67
  12. Well, a new era begins tomorrow night. I saw that Nebraska was retaining Scott Frost, albeit with a restructured contract -- and staff, and couldn't help but think of the frightening parallels between us and Nebraska football. Both were national powers. Both had iconic coaches considered to be among the best -- if not THE best -- in the biz. Both have seen some lean times since those coaches left -- although truth be told, we had not been great in RMK's last few years. Had coaches shuffle in, then shuffle out, mostly with very limited success -- if that. Had the fan base clamor for an alum to come in and rescue the program. At long last, got that coach. So far, it's been pretty disastrous for Nebraska. Nobody considers them a national power anymore. Scott Frost was supposed to come in and change that. He was supposed to save the day. I really hope Woody isn't our Scott Frost. I really, really, really don't want that to happen. I've been alive for three of our NCAA titles and was at IU for the last one. I want to stop sucking. I can't help but wonder how much Trev Alberts thought: "Where the hell would we go after Scott Frost? We've tried just about everything else." I'm not saying Woody is the last gasp for IU hoops, but sometimes it sure feels that way. Because if he doesn't work out -- and I know nobody wants to consider that -- what's next? Brad Stevens ain't walking through that door. We learned that a few months back -- the hard way.
  13. Ah, you're right -- I forgot about the summer trip. They do have some game experience. Totally slipped my mind.
  14. If someone already addressed this, I apologize -- but I wasn't sure what all had been discussed in this thread. On the surface -- again, that's without much of a deep dive into this event or what's been discussed here -- it seems to me as if this Fan Fest could've been held at any time. Maybe even last weekend, when the football team was out of town. I realize that's when we had our secret scrimmage against Belmont -- but you can have that at any time as well. I wonder if our time this weekend wouldn't have been better served with an exhibition game? Or maybe do a Fan Fest on Friday, followed an exhibition Saturday. Or game Saturday, Fan Fest on Sunday? Or any combination of that over the past 3-4 gays? The Colts aren't playing today, so there's no concern there. Man, I saw that the Toiletmakers played UIndy the other day -- and Mackey was sold out and was rocking. Kinda weird/disappointing to see photos of yesterday's event in front of what looked to be a very sparse crowd. Not sure of the logistics of everything and rules about exhibitions and scrimmages and what not, so maybe this is a naive post ... but I'd definitely feel more comfortable going into Tuesday night with some game experience under our belts -- more than just a scrimmage.
  15. Jesus -- he got hit 2 yards out of bounds.
  16. I'm sorta torn by this PU game -- well, not really. There's no way I'd ever root for the Toiletmakers. But MSU equally chaps my a-s. Mel Tucker was the Bears DC for a couple seasons a few years back -- and they were historically awful. I mean -- they would've given up 14 points to a high school team. Now, he's the darling of college football -- and getting mentioned as the top candidate at LSU.
  17. Though there are two-plus quarters to be played, Purdue looks as if it could beat the No. 3-ranked team three weeks after beating the No. 2 team. That bums me out.
  18. Would be interesting to see what happens if UGA and 'Bama win out and play in the SEC title game -- and the 'Dogs win. Does the committee take a two-loss 'Bama team?
  19. It's a sad day for college football when a win over Wake Forest leads to fans storming the field.
  20. Going with the same score last year, only reversed ... Maize & Blue: 38 Cream & Crimson: 21
  21. The recorder used by the manager -- I think it was Lawrence Frank -- to secretly tape The General's locker room rant in 1991. "I'M LEAVING AND YOU F--KING GUYS WILL RUN TILL YOU CAN'T EAT SUPPER! "NOW, I'M TIRED OF THIS SH-T! I'M SICK AND F--KING TIRED OF AN 8-10 RECORD! "I'M F--KING TIRED OF LOSING TO PURDUE! I'M NOT HERE TO F-CK AROUND THIS WEEK!"
  22. Just don't bring up replacing Memorial Stadium. Don't even think about going there. In the 61 years it has been open, there's gotta be at least -- oh, six or seven or so -- memorable moments. Beautiful fall afternoons. Stadium one-third full. Hoosiers getting poleaxed. Precious memories.
