  1. I sorta wondered about that, too. Layne read that and was gonna jump the route anyway. We didn't necessarily need to take out the receiver.
  2. CTA is going nuts -- but that penalty was about as obvious as a penalty can be.
  3. Did that announcer just refer to West Lafayette as Northwest Indiana?
  4. That drive, led by our fifth-string, walk-on QB, was more impressive than anything I recall Penix or Tuttle accomplishing this season.
  5. Would make an interesting prop bet: Does Bell by himself outgain our entire offfense?
  6. Such a wild turnaround. A year ago, we crushed Michigan. Beat 'em by 17 points -- and it wasn't even that close. This year, they're five points and a crazy comeback from being unbeaten and ranked No. 1 or 2 in the country. And we ... Ah, well -- I think we know where we are: at the bottom of the toilet. Which is appropriate, because we're gonna get killed by the Toiletmakers this afternoon.
  7. In an exact reversal of last spring's NCAA championship, I'm gonna say: IU 1 Marshall 0 OK, here's my real pick ... Hoosiers 66 Herd 56
  8. So if Gonzaga loses, what are the chances the Toiletmakers are ranked No. 1 next week? Or would the Dookies jump all the way to the top?
  9. Final shot bounces high off the rim -- and straight through. Dayton wins!!!
  10. Jayhawks with the offensive foul. Dayton ball. Down 1. 16 seconds to go.
  11. The wings are falling off the Flyers ...
  12. Not surprisingly, Lunardi has the Toiletmakers as a No. 1 and playing in Indy. Obviously, there's a long road to travel between now and March, but I really, really, really don't want to see the PUs getting to play there. I hope they get knocked back a few notches between now and then. But at the same time, I gotta admit -- they're pretty damn good. Joey Brackets has us as a No. 7, playing in San Diego -- not a bad place to end up in mid-March. TBH, I'm not a fan of Lunardi or such ridiculously early brackets, but what the hell -- nothing wrong with a little fodder to chew on toward the end of Feast Week. https://www.espn.com/espn/feature/story/_/page/bracketology/ncaa-bracketology-projecting-2022-march-madness-men-field
  13. For coaches, assistants, players, etc. -- it seems very little good ever comes from banter with fans. It's just something you're never gonna win. Unless you're paying them a compliment or something, it's best to just avoid altogether. And even then ...
  14. The Gaels of November arrived just at the right time ......
  15. Happy Thanksgiving! Most probably are too young to remember this, but it's a classic ...
  16. Gee -- who'd've thunk it. Sounds hauntingly familiar!
  17. Either Gonzaga is light years ahead of everyone else or UCLA really isn't the second-best team in the country.
  18. I always thought Miller Kopp looked familiar. Then it hit me -- he was one of the white dudes in "Glory Road."
  19. Cannot believe Houston did not even get off a final shot. Gotta have better clock awareness than that!
  20. All that flirtin' by James Franklin paid off. PSU gave him a new contract ...
  21. My favorite IU-Toiletmaker moment is probably the 1988 beatdown -- IU 52, PUs 7. And that was at Moss-Grade Stadium. I was a junior then (yep, I'm that old). Dave Schnell and Anthony Thompson led the way -- but I'm having trouble finding photos, etc., from then. So -- this one wasn't bad, either ...
  22. A year after being ranked in the top 10, we complete our B1G bagel by getting beat down in Toilet-town. Toiletmakers 49 Hoosiers 14 (Not exactly sure how we'll get that 14, but that's my pick and I'm sticking to it ...)
