  1. Do we have a thread for IU in-game betting strategy? This team is so predictable they are printing money.
  2. I saw this posted on TOS. If this doesn't raise questions about Big Ten officiating shenanigans, I don't know what will.
  3. I can't wait until the NCAA tournament when actual officials will be on the floor instead of these Big Ten clowns. Edey will foul out of the game and Purdue will lose to Southwestern State A&M College of Welding and Cosmetology. It is going to be awesome watching them get dropped in the first round, again! I wish I could bottle PU fans' tears so I could use it to salt my popcorn.
  4. Wait, I thought that Will Wade was Deadpool. I definitely wouldn't want to coach against Deadpool.
  5. You are correct. I think there is a fundamental misunderstanding of what the brand agreement between IU and Adidas actually is. It is essentially a marketing tool for Adidas, not a licensing deal. The only apparel that Adidas can exclusively sell is the team apparel. I can see where it would be in Adidas's best interests to create some new jerseys in order to boost jersey sales, but when it comes to shirts, hats, etc. they are not a big profit center for Adidas and can actually be a liability.
  6. I think that you are jumping to the conclusion that Adidas would be printing money if they sold that jacket to the general public. Adidas would have to sell thousands of those jackets to break even and tens of thousands of them to turn enough of a profit for it to even be worth their time, and if they don't sell all of that inventory they end up losing money on it.
  7. So your argument is that IU basketball apparel is super easy to sell and extremely profitable and Adidas doesn't want to make money, but Nike does?
  8. I think you are only counting the players that transferred the previous year. There were 69 total transfers on last year's sweet sixteen teams.
  9. That is disappointing. I understand that a head coach's time is valuable, but sending a text message to a recruit after a game takes 2 minutes. Hell, I am surprised we don't have someone on staff that writes the text message for Woody. That honestly borders on malpractice.
  10. Pitino went from Kentucky to Louisville (with a stop in the NBA in between).
  11. Which part of this snippet from Mike Woodson's wikipedia page do you find the most hilarious? Despite playing and learning under well-known, traditional basketball coaches, Woodson embraced "a modern style of play" at Indiana. He implemented "a four-out one-in offensive system that highlights versatile athletes in a free-flowing system" and "made a point to emphasize that he understood the importance of 3-pointers."[24] Woodson also utilizes analytics to help determine player combinations.[24] I am going to go with the bit about analytics. I don't think anyone who understands numbers or math would like at our analytics and make a rational decision to take four starters out of the game at one time.
  12. I often wonder what level of recruitment these high school kids are actually looking for from the head coach. Do they expect multiple visits or are they looking for more contact? What makes them "feel the love"? Does a text message from the head coach congratulating a player after a good game suffice or do they actually need to show up for the games?
  13. I think that the statement "Every one has a different idea what a winner is" explains why we are in our current situation. The reason everyone keeps describing our program as "rudderless" is because there is no clear consensus for how we even define success. How in the hell can we ever be successful when we can't agree what success looks like, much less have a clear strategy for how to obtain it?
  14. Sign me up for Proven Winner. I am concerned that his agent, Back Up The Brinks Truck, may be an obstacle to getting him, but I will leave that to Millionaire Booster to figure out.
  15. What other names are being mentioned?
  16. You have clearly never been to Waco. He should be paying us to rescue him from that godforsaken town.
  17. Woody thinks there are 63 games still left in the season. He is stuck in the NBA and never adjusted to the college game.
  18. Hummel will say anything to sh!t talk IU, so I can’t pay any mind to what he says.
  19. Hummel is an asshat. I wouldn’t pay any attention to what he says if I were you.
  20. Kelvin Sampson, Scott Drew, Bruce Pearl. Offer them a $10M a year contract.
  21. I am just trying to provide the entire context for why we hired Woody. I think that people forget all of the factors that were in play. We thought we had Brad Stevens and when bailed on us we were left scrambling. Juwan Howard had just finished a really good season at Michigan, and we thought we could replicate that. We brought in a great college basketball mind with Thad Matta to teach Woody the ropes. We brought in the heir apparent with Dane Fife to take over when Woody left. Former players were pushing hard for IU to hire Woody. We just paid a whole lot of money to Archie to leave. Woody wasn't going to make us back up the Brinks truck
  22. Let's not forget that we also brought Thad Matta in to help Woody adjust to the college game and also brought in Fife as the heir apparent.
  23. I think that a major factor in IU hiring Mike Woodson was the success that Juwan Howard had at Michigan at the time Woody was hired.
  24. I will give Woody credit for admitting that he sat Ware and Mgbako for too long. That is a step in the right direction. I am not claiming that Woody isn't a great guy. I am sure he is very sociable and fun to be around, I just think that he is very stubborn about basketball and is stuck in his ways. I don't think that those two things are mutually exclusive. RMK was also beloved by his staff, his players, and by boosters (not so much by the board), and he was also very stubborn about basketball. I can't imagine RMK ever stepping down voluntarily either.
  25. You are right, I am wrong. He is the exact opposite of everything I said. Woody enjoys feedback and criticism from the fans, listens to everyone around him and implements their suggestions, and constantly blames his own bad coaching for losses. He hasn't demonstrated a single one of the attributes I listed, I just made the whole thing up.
