I honesty don’t get how players don’t notice the time on the shot clock. Pay attention Green. -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
IUrocker replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
People think that if he announces at the McDonald's All-American game that he will probably commit to Vandy since Garland will be there. Isn't there a good possibility that he's not gonna care at all what Garland thinks about his choice and be just fine with committing to IU at the game? Like I've seen before, he could be all about IU and know that announcing at the game, wherever he goes, puts that school and his brand on a stage in itself. I'd like to think his own college choice/future will sit well above making someone "mad" about his college decision. -

This is just me, but if I was being recruited by both Archie and Drew, something about the way Drew is going about this with Romeo would make it kind of unappealing to me compared to how Archie is handling things. Drew, in a goofy way of putting it, seems to be going way over the top with his tongue hanging out drooling over Romeo in somewhat of a begging and pleading manner trying to get him, trying to persuade him as much as he can, while Archie just seems confident, and cool as a cucumber with the whole thing. Archie puts off having the mindset of "you know what, we definitely would love to have you, we would be an outstanding team if you joined us and created your own special legacy, but at the same time, i know what i'm capable of as a coach, I know what we have coming in, and we're going to be just fine without you if you choose to go elsewhere." That would be so much more intriguing to me than to commit to a coach who just seems to be annoying and a hound about the whole thing. It just really makes it look like Drew is thinking "please, please, come here so you can make me look like a better coach than i actually am". -

Something else that’s good to see the huge smile and joy on Devonte’s face. Earlier in the year he looked like the last place he wanted to be was on this team and I think he has finally humbled up, realized what Archie is wanting him to do is working, and he’s having fun. He and Johnson are ballin’ today. -

Frustrating to know the athleticism of Justin Smith, but to see how soft and timid he can be. It’ll take time I suppose, but can’t wait until the day he becomes fearless. -

Romeo saying something like it "would be cool playing with him", in my eyes, could be the same thing as saying Archie "would be fun playing for". I think it's a pretty safe comment and doesn't really point to Vandy too much. If he said Archie "would be fun to play for", would people be like "sweet! he's coming to IU!"...not necessarily. -

Could be...and then hopefully Romeo’s family being there would be a good thing so as to prevent him from making any rash, horrible decisions. -

Crap, with the whole family going to Vandy, Drew’s probably gonna pull out all the stops....manikins throughout the gym to make it look more full, and speakers supplying extra crowd noise. Good thing he can’t coach and they play Florida, at least we’ve got that going for us when they visit. (I could see Drew stooping to this level, haha) -

I’m not gonna say that Romeo taking his entire family with him to Vandy means anything extravagant, but I’ll also say that it doesn’t necessarily need to be taken as only a negative thing when looking at it one way or the other. The other side of it could mean the whole family is respectfully going down there to say “thanks for recruiting our son and getting to know us all this time, But...”. So I mean there could be a positive to it as well. As others have said though, it could REALLY just be no big deal and they are just attending the game to be there. -
Sweet! Now it’ll look even better when we beat OSU at home.

Purdue goes to Rutgers and wins by 2. We go in there and win by 22...huh? Man if we can just keep some consistency with this play!

Always feels good to be a 1 point favorite for a game and then something like this happens instead.

Yep, indeed it is! They currently sit at 17-0. Here's a cool article about him and how excited he is to be a Hoosier, wanting to stay in state when he goes to college, etc. He pretty much sees IU as his dream school. https://www.indystar.com/story/sports/college/indiana/2018/02/03/how-archie-miller-won-over-hot-shooting-iu-commit-damezi-anderson-looks-forward-joining-up-dream-sch/303169002/

IU put up 66 shots and made 19 of them, but we only lost by 3. Thank you Archie.
-
Shoot, I think even if we don't get Romeo next year, our shooting is so horrific this year that the likes of Phinisee, Anderson, and Hunter alone will drastically improve the shooting for next season. Anderson had a game earlier in the year where he was 8-9 from deep....yes, please.
-
Makes you feel for Archie. He's well aware he's gotta deal with the hand he was dealt this year, and one of these days he's gonna need a toupee from pulling his hair out every time he sees a good looking shot not go in the basket. He's obviously an excellent coach to be able to keep us in the game against a talented Michigan State team...especially with the way this year's team shoots the ball.

Our shooting ability as a team next year is going to be NIGHT and DAY compared to this years team. Can't wait!!

Maybe I’m wrong, but I kind of see this first class of Archie’s for next year as being better than any of Crean’s classes he had. I’m talking overall as an entire group. Obviously Crean had his classes that had the ONE big fish recruit like Zeller, Yogi, Vonleh, or Blackmon, but as a collective group as a whole, if Archie gets his big fish in Romeo, the rest of the players we have are all really solid 4 star players. Now obviously after they come to IU they could end up being not as good as they currently appear, that happens and i get it, but I’m just talking recruiting classes that are committed/signed that haven’t put on the stripes yet. Archie’s first year doesn’t include a Grant Gelon, or a Jeremiah April, or an Austin Etherington, etc. I’m definitely excited about what Archie is able to do for us recruiting wise. Everyone always talked about how great of a recruiter Crean was, and maybe so, he did indeed get some good ones no doubt, but I think we are gonna start seeing recruiting classes that are all business and full of high quality players who are meant to be played and contribute. No more Oprah Winfrey style “you get a scholarship! And you get a scholarship! And you! And you!” -
My Ohio State coworkers are gonna give me the ol’ “glad we ended up not getting Archie” after this game. Yep, we’re glad you didn’t get him either ;) We need his players bad!!!

(2019) PF Trayce Jackson-Davis to INDIANA
IUrocker replied to Uspshoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I actually wanna say he has gone to at least a handful of home games. I went to the IPFW game and whenever we go we sit tight and let the crowd file out and then walk down to the floor and out. After I grabbed my empty water bottle, pizza box, and wiped up all my tears, i saw him there with who I was assuming was his girlfriend. I walked right by him after the game over by the IU bench. I also saw him there in the stands watching the Duke game and Purdue game. (I like trying to see if I can find recruits at the game on tv, ha). Phinisee has been to just about all of them.
