  1. Aren't there at least a handful of other schools that have openings who would love to have Crean? I'm hoping we don't have to think there are only one or two schools Crean would go for, in turn limiting the chances of him being gone...(considering Glass seems so adamant in him finding a landing place instead of just getting it over with and firing him). There's another part of me that thinks once our season is officially over, he will then announce he is gone and just hasn't done it yet since we still have another game to play.
  2. I'm hoping that it will all just be a matter of since we got into the NIT and therefore our season continues, Glass isn't going to say anything until they lose and season officially ends just as a respect to Crean thing wanting to coach his players. Once we lose the game and our season is officially finished, Glass comes out and says Crean is gone. As far as making the NIT game an away game, I'm hoping THAT is showing that Glass, once again out of respect to Crean, wants to play away from Assembly Hall to avoid Crean's potential last game of the season beinf one filled with 5,000 booing fans at your own place. Although, it is quite ridiculous at the same time for him to make it an away game knowing we could have groups of fans attend who normally couldn't make a trip to Assembly Hall for a game with their families. Putting that aside though, maybe it's just all about Crean's last experience with the team and the environment he would have to encounter (even though that does look "cowardish"). Hopefully once we do lose, he just comes out and officially says Crean is done.
  3. I can't imagine how upset people would be, or how bad it may look in the eyes of IU fans, to see Illinois end up getting a bigger guy than IU goes out and gets.
  4. https://mobile.twitter.com/BallerIU/status/840674839111335936 legit?
  5. Yeah, hopefully this isn't a sign of Glass saying "aww heck Tommy, come on back, we'll be glad to have you."..and then Crean tells Missouri "thanks, but I'm gonna go ahead and stay put where im at." I'd like to think that's definitely not the case though just based off how Crean's demeanor has been the past week or so.
  6. Illinois just announced that Groce has been fired.
  7. This could be out of the realm, but I wonder if Donovan has it set up as "yep, I'll be the coach, but I want it kept quiet and don't want it announced until Crean is officially announced as gone", and then we know something sooner than we may think. But I'm thinking he may want to wait til he is done with the Thunder. My reason behind thinking they may announce sooner than later his him being well aware of the importance of the recruiting time frame and establishing a good set up for the new season ahead.
  8. Let's say that it is in fact Donovan who will be our next coach. Would that mean we wouldn't find out until later down the road after he finishes the playoffs with the Thunder? Or would that not matter and we find out just as soon as any other candidate? You may think that if it does indeed take a while for a new coach announcement to be made, that it might be safe to assume that it could be Donovan just for the fact that we are waiting on him to be done with his NBA season....or that could not matter at all and we find out whether it's him just as soon as any other candidate. Curious as to how that would play out.
  9. When players are hitting their shots it makes Crean's teams look great. When the shots aren't falling and he has no Plan B against the team we are playing against, our flaws are exposed and get screwed because he usually doesn't make adjustments. Wisconsin is a team more than capable of exposing those flaws. If the we are hot shooting the ball again tonight and we win, I don't see that as making Crean a good coach who should stay. He has nothing to do really with the player's shots going in. Wisconsin is gonna present us with better perimeter defense than what Iowa did, so I don't see us shooting as well, but IF we do, it's not gonna be a matter of "holy cow, Crean can coach, we better keep him!". If we don't hit our shots it truly shows where he lacks as a coach.
  10. Hahaha, it sounds so horrible to say doesn't it?...but yes
  11. Yep, that's where I've been seeing chatter of his return as well. I am however going to assume and hope its all personal opinion because as far as the Missouri talk and who we may be getting as our next coach is pretty much nonexistent on that site as if they are unaware of all that stuff.
  12. There are a handful of people on the Inside The Hall site who think that Crean will be back next year. They think Glass will use the injury card for this season and that last night's win sealed the deal to Crean returning. I am not one of those people..
  13. Exactly! So Crean happens to put a run together in the BTT to get us to sneak in and he's all of a sudden a great coach to need to keep around longer? Our players just happened to be hot from the 3 point line last night. We all know that when those shots aren't falling our true flaws shine through and it has haunted us all season long. Let's say tonight we shoot 70% from 3 and win the game. Is it gonna be because he somehow figured out how to be a great coach and we can think "oh wow, from now on he's gonna make IU really good!!"? No...it's gonna be because we happened to hit a bunch of shots again. I hope Glass can realize this. I have nothing against Crean as a person and appreciate the mess he got us out of, but the only way he APPEARS to be a good coach is if most of our shots are falling, and that in itself has nothing to do with him at all. You have a night where we are cold from the 3 point line and he has no plan B. Just in case Glass can't see this, I kind of hope Wisconsin beats us so that there is no doubt in changing the mind of Glass and we can move on with any announcement that may be around the corner. On one hand being a true IU fan, I hate seeing them lose and want the players to win, but at the same time if them winning puts us in jeopardy to experience more mediocrity in the future then no thanks.
  14. Right, I agree...whether the BTT end for us tonight or a couple games in the tournament later, I hope we get an answer after the BTT is over for us, but before the NIT. Then at least we all know and not wait until after the NIT. Like you said, then we get a home game to just root on the players and hope they do well themselves without wondering if anything they do will result in a coaching decision.
  15. Just for the sake of not wanting to have to wait any longer to see what happens and who we end up getting as a replacement, I'd say let's hope so. Other than that, if we for sure know Crean is gone and if he himself knows he is gone, I'd like to see the players win some games. If we know that Crean winning the tournament won't buy him another year then heck..
  16. I saw...very interesting. No Tom Crean basketball camp listed as happening. Definitely had one last year.
  17. All I know is, refreshing this thread every 5 minutes for the past week sure has made these days leading up to the BTT seem to take forever!! I just wanna know what happens and who we get as a coach already!! Lol
  18. There was talk on another site that there was supposed to be a meeting this week with IU and Donovan's representative, which led to a lot of people wondering how that would end up going if it indeed did happen. Then someone, can't remember who, posted that the meeting happened and that Donovan was a "no go". Today however, we saw a Mile from a different site say "0708 wanted to pass this along: "tho talks did not go well on Tuesday, there is still interest on the part of the Donovan camp."....so I mean there are different people who are debating on whether that meeting even existed to begin with, but if it indeed did, that is what was said about it.
  19. I believe Tuesday was supposedly the day that IU and Donovan's agent had a meeting together, so they are saying that even though that meeting didn't completely go as planned (if it indeed happened), the Donovan camp is still interested. Not COMPLETELY certain on that, but from what I have read in the past about that, it's what I took away from it.
