I know Yogi mentioned Evan being there watching Garland could mean something like him getting a date in which he plans to commit, or actually committing tonight. What is the most likely scenario just based off who Evan Daniels is? Does HIM being there make it any more significant than the other? -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS

If I remember correctly, Hoosier Guy’s same calm and confident demeanor was on display once the Crean firing rumors started swirling. There were people saying he was gone, while other reports said he was returning, which led to tons of people wondering what was really gonna happen. All the while, Hoosier Guy stood firm with the “Relax, he’s gone”, or “Be patient...”, etc. Then bam, Crean was announced being let go. Personally, for me and that in mind, it really makes me lean towards thinking we really could be getting our guys. Same deal goes for Romeo and Darius with the whole “Relax, they are coming to IU” stuff. If I’m crazy for leaning on those comparisons, then maybe so, haha, but dang it sure does make me believe!! -

True story: On Saturday before HH around 2:00 or so, some family members and I were walking down Walnut street heading to Brothers to get some drinks before the event. I happened to look at some people getting out of their vehicle parked in a spot on the street, and it just happened to be Darius and his family. I went right up to Darius and said “You’re Darius, right?”, and he smiled and nodded. I shook his hand and said “well thank you for coming and we’re very excited that you’re here.” He smiled and said thank you and then I walked off. I turned to one of my brothers and said “that was Darius Garland! He’s one of the top recruits we are trying to get!” He laughed and was in awe that I noticed him and knew who he was. (He’s not nearly as obsessed with IU b-ball as I am, haha). Anyways, you can thank me for that moment with Darius as the tipping point that made him fall in love with the place, hahaha, just kidding. I did indeed think it was really cool that I saw him out and about though! -

Does Jerry changing his pick all of a sudden mean announcement is going to happen anytime now? Or could we still not see anything for another couple weeks or so? -
Right, I see what you mean, yeah I did mean by a 3rd party like stubhub. Was wondering when the soonest they would be up for sale that way. I agree that with all the season ticket holders and students being there that getting them otherwise would be pretty much impossible. I usually take my family to non-conference games when most of the students are away on break and get them for decent prices on stubhub, but I'm definitely aware that the price for this game will be nowhere close to what I get the non-conference cupcake games for.
-
Anyone know when tickets for this would start going on sale along with the rest of the games for the season? Not until August or so? I can't image how fast the Duke game will sell out.

Indeed. Definitely glad we got Archie! I saw that a source said OSU's wish list of coaches to go after are Brad Stevens, Tony Bennett, Jay Wright, Sean Miller, and Billy Donovan. Seems like a pretty hefty list. Donovan seems interesting if you think about him reuniting with Urban Meyer from their days at Florida, but to me, IMO, Ohio State just doesn't seem to be a wow factor type of job for guys on that list...but that's the lifelong Hoosier fan in me speaking I suppose. On a side note, I'm wondering if Archie is thinking about that job now a bit in the back of his mind knowing it was said to be his "dream job". Now that he's at IU I doubt it. He knows IU is a special place to be.
-
I agree. I believe that if the Donovan name was never even in existence to happening and Archie was announced, everyone would be like "YES!!!"...now it seems like a letdown to people just because we got our hopes up about Donovan. The way we need to truly look at it is this: Crean is the coach we fired, so is Archie an upgrade to Crean? IMO, I give a resounding YES.
-
Would the first announcement of Donovan being the coach and a formal introduction press conference with him being present go hand in hand, or could they announce him as coach and then he get formally introduced at a later time?
-
Agreed. I think if he is indeed in town then an announcement will be made. He's not gonna risk being seen if he isn't gonna take the job.
-
So yeah since it is indeed Todd's twitter page, maybe there doesn't necessarily need to be photo evidence as far as Donovan being out in public. It could very well be a matter of someone who is in the know is aware of Billy and his wife being in town, and that person told Todd. Like someone else has stated, just because Billy and his wife are in town doesn't mean he is out in public walking the streets, or heck, eating wings at Buffalouie's...

I'm just anxious to finally find out who it is so I can start to find out who leaves, who stays, what type of commitments we get because of who we got as coach, and predictions for what type of season we will have for next year. All that is fun stuff too. I know I'm looking too far into the future and all that stuff plays itself out once we do get the new coach, but it's the type of stuff that makes me wish we would get an announcement soon. Obviously waiting patiently because of waiting for Donovan to complete his season is understandable, but I wish we had some type of confirmable guarantee that we are just waiting for Donovan to jump our way if that is indeed the case.

Saw someone post a flight that started in OKC that went to Chicago, down to Bloomington, then off to Florida...haha...I mean what are the chances...heck, it's Donovan who went to sign on the dotted line quick in Btown, then went to Florida to tell family the news and grab some stuff he forgot in the garage at the house he is selling!! We are in business! Lol....it is indeed crazy though to look at those flights and see those exact destinations. Certainly makes it easy to plan out things you hope and want to hear and make sense of. I'm NOT making fun of the people who find these flights, I'm just legitimately amazed at seeing a flight that could match up with what Donovan COULD be doing.

Saw this on twitter...not too sure how much of a reliable source he is or has. https://mobile.twitter.com/BallerIU/status/845265319908311041

If we do indeed get either Donovan or Bennett, do you think we would definitely hear something by tomorrow or Friday? Or could it still be one of them and it not get announced until next week or later? Just wondering how much of a chance we have at hearing something before the weekend hits so I can tell my brain to stop going nuts...
-
Right, I suppose that is probably the case...spotlight or not, I guess what I was really trying to get at was the actual timing of his announcement...things kind of got really quiet the day or two before the announcement, and then boom, there it was...I'm wondering if the same thing will happen with the coach announcement, because things seem to have gone pretty quiet like last time right before an event. So let's say the plan is to do that again, and announce it Thursday or Friday before the start of some sweet 16 games. Would we have known that was gonna happen by now considering it's only a day or two away, or is there still time and could be early still to have not heard anything about it?
-
So simply based of knowing how Glass handled the Crean firing (so that it dominated the news around the BTT), let's say it IS Donovan and we will hear an announcement either Thursday or Friday during the tournament to kind of take the spotlight....is it still early enough for us to not know by now that something will happen tomorrow or Friday, or would we have definitely known by now if there was gonna be an announcement within the next day or two?
-
That could very well be the case...I keep tabs on that site and have gathered the fact that he is someone everyone relies on for good info and are always anxious to see what info he has to share. Other than that, you're correct, who knows.
-
Someone on 247 asked BtownInsider just a little bit ago if he could comment on what percentage he thinks we land Donovan as the coach, and he replied "100%"....people have been asking him to give info all day and he has been pretty quiet all day. So it's good to see he still thinks we are set on Donovan by giving the 'ol 100% comment.
-
True, he would downplay it to be no big deal to me but on the inside most likely be envious as all heck.

I have a co-worker who is a big Purdue fan...most immature guy I know. I saw on my Facebook news feed that he posted "Purdue is in the sweet sixteen and IU doesn't even have a coach. All is well in Indiana."....ugggh, I really want this to happen with Billy D. I told him that it was looking like we were gonna get Billy at work and he of course just laughed in my face and said I "must be smoking something." He is the most immature cocky human being I have ever encountered in person in my life...not just about Purdue. Anyways, I would love to know this Billy D thing is for sure happening so I can bet him an amount of money or something and then be able to rub it in his face!

Saw that Illinois hired Brad Underwood from Oklahoma State to be their new coach.

I have co-workers who are Purdue, OSU, and Michigan fans. They will all be crying, scared, and envious if we end up getting a coach like Donovan...a mix of emotions I can't wait to witness, ha. There is also a guy who is a diehard Kentucky fan. He out of all of them is the most respectable basketball fan I've come across as far as being rivals to IU. When IU does something really well, he always has positive comments to say to me, and when we screw something up, he doesn't say a word and gives me zero crap. He has also said to me many times that he believes IU is an elite program and needs to get back to that level. It's quite refreshing to hear considering all the immature Purdue/Michigan a-holes I deal with daily. I mentioned to the Kentucky fan co-worker that there's a chance we may get Donovan and he said "oh wow, that would be huge. That would strike fear into the rest of the Big Ten, if not the nation. That'd be awesome for you guys." The Purdue fans just laugh in my face and say "you wish" or "we'll see". I'm sure the first step in putting that fear into the hearts of the Purdue fans at my work was Crean being gone. Makes them start to wonder..
