  1. Wouldn’t mind seeing this one go into a few OT’s
  2. Would also think that Carr has done a fair share of international scouting and would have helpful connections there.
  3. Read the 24/7 article on his background and Bird’s comments about what expected from Carr. I would think/hope our staff would want his input on players from an evaluation standpoint, even though it is their final call. Carr has a ton of evaluation experience at the highest level.
  4. Strange deal. Can’t play for 30 days but if Carmel advances to the semi state and he is ruled eligible, could feasibly play this year. Otherwise, mid December on next year’s Carmel team.
  5. 1:00 mark approx deep 3 “one of the best shooters in all of HS basketball” no idea if that is true but nice to hear nonetheless
  6. Broad Ripple is correct. As a kid watching, he instantly became my favorite player and that is mostly true to this day. New Castle got beat in the night game by Connersville and the Heineman twins. I believe Alford had 33 that night for 90 on the day. Ahhh, semi state weekend of one class basketball…
  7. Bittle had been out 5 of those games, back today and had 23 in their close loss. IU plays well and it won’t matter but Oregon is better with him back.
  8. Give it up “straight baller” lol. You must be bored, maybe the YMCA run wasn’t enough for you tonight. Never once advocated for “bad shots”, no matter how many times you want to try to twist that argument. It’s very simple. Short of a cheating or sex scandal, there is 0% chance DD is getting fired in year 1. And his propensity to allow 28 footers from guys that have scored a boat load of points in their college careers might be the last reason he would lose his job in the year end performance review. Take the night off and root for your team Saturday.
  9. “But frankly, if he doesn’t fix it, yes firing should be considered. It’s part of his job and if he’s not doing his job, there should be consequences. “ This is what you said. Year 1. Regarding long 3’s. That is nut job posting. Keep moving the goal posts if you want.
  10. Not even sure what you are trying to argue here. The original premise was that if the coach doesn’t change the behavior of his players shooting 28 footers (without any supporting evidence that they do it chronically), then he should be under consideration for firing, after YEAR 1. It’s nut job posting. But carry on about the 3% of shots they take during the course of games. Maybe it deserves a separate thread and we can debate good shot/bad shot each game.
  11. Again, walk me thru last night. I watchedd the replay. I gave you two instances, one miss and one make. Every other 3 was within the offense. Dorn just happened to go 2-12 on a lot of looks generally makes. But fire the coach! His son took a 28 footer! Good lord.
  12. To be clear, you advocate firing the coach after one year because his team- built on shooting, winning games because of shooting, with a 3PFG% in the top 3rd of the conference- is shooting early shot clock 3’s (when the defense isn’t usually set) a couple steps away from the line? Can you document how many of these “turnovers” happen each game? I recall Tucker’s at the 8 min mark last night (on the rewatch he was wide open and in rhythm) but don’t recall too many recently. Lamar made one at the 10 min mark, that seemed to help. What an odd hill to die on…
  13. He’s one of the worst college coaches in the last couple decades. 6-50 in his last 2 years at Lamar. Inherited a Marian program that was rolling and has completely tanked it, topped off by the likely the most embarrassing loss in Marian history on Saturday. Been around him a couple of times and it’s pretty obvious why he is terrible at coaching. Maybe Ryan Carr will throw him another basketball lifeline.
  14. Another positive, if it becomes a FT contest is they only shoot 71.7%. IU shoots 78.5% (12th in the country)
  15. For those hoping this game won’t go much past midnight ET, good luck… USC is #1 in the B1G (and 3rd in the country) at FT attempts. IU is second in the B1G in Fouls. USC is first in Fouls (IU 9th in FTA). This has all the makings of a FT contest. SC is last in 3PA. They will be driving the ball non stop so IU will need to manage the foul trouble. SC gives up a lot of 3’s, so hopefully IU can trade enough 3P Made for Free throws given up. Should be interesting.
