Enjoyed watching him at Wake. Always heard he was a great guy, my friend was hosted by him on a visit there. Sad news

On the positive side, former Avon HS gunslinger Henry Hesson will finally get his chance to start a couple games.

2025 IUFB Prediction League - Game 11 vs Wisconsin 11/15/25 Noon BTN
MonteMarcaccini replied to LIHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Wisconsin’s defense has played well lately against two good teams ORE and WASH. They have had all the issues at QB and are offensively challenged. Can see a lower scoring game than we are used to lately. IU 27-6 -

IUFB at Penn State - Saturday, 11.08.25 @ Noon on Fox-TV

Exactly. Guessing it has been discussed here but I haven’t posted much on this side so not aware- but the Cig running it up is such a false narrative by opposing fans and media in general. We all watch so we know but just looking at the scoring of all the blowout games (no Iowa/Oregon), IU has a 4thQ scoring margin avg of 7 points. Seven. In quarters 1-3, margin is over 35pts on avg. and mostly in quarters 2 and 3. The backups play Q4, Fernando rarely, and mostly just run the ball. IU has ONE passing touchdown in those games in the 4th and that was last week with 11min to go by Alberto. What else do they want him to do? Take a knee for 15 minutes?? -

Anybody have an idea of the pulse of the PSU crowd for Saturday? I don’t frequent opponents boards and haven’t seen any articles. First game at home with an interim coach in a lost season. Are we expecting the normal 100k fired up to beat #2 or expecting some no shows and a no longer interested crowd? For the record, I dont think it will matter much as I expect IU to play well once again. -

IU vs Marian (Exhibition) 10/17 7:30 B1G+
MonteMarcaccini replied to mamasa's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Fun to see for the good guys. Are we allowed to talk about Pat Knight being a terrible basketball coach? Marian was on solid footing before he arrived. He was awful at Lamar. Awful at TT. He was going to be the Stephen Pearl of IU. Anyway, fun to see the 3’s flying. -

Exactly. But my kids say it all the time and Kinney somehow is social media famous for it -

FWIW- The Athletic had an article today about the “missing piece” for 2026 title contenders. They detailed Purdue, Duke, FL, BYU and Tex Tech. And mentioned three others- Houston, UConn and Arizona, as other teams with a near complete roster. No mention of UK. -
Darian DeVries - New IUBB Head Coach
MonteMarcaccini replied to iubb's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The timeline doesn’t. The AD says it very clear. We wanted to talk to him in STL. Why not the Monday after STL? Had a week. That’s when Iowa talked to him. All good tho -

I’m sure I missed your post previously but I don’t understand the timeline based on what the AD says here. Why did IU need to interview him in STL? He had a week after the MVCT until Selection Sunday. Sounds like he talked to Iowa during that week. Sorry that I missed it but why couldn’t IU wait until those days after the Valley Tourney? Note- I would be happy with either guy so this isn’t a complaint. Just curious. -

https://www.desmoinesregister.com/story/sports/college/drake/drake-bulldogs/2018/03/30/drake-basketball-darian-devries-head-coach-aplington-dana-altman-creighton/473123002/# Found this article from his Drake hire, nice insight. I had listened to a podcast this summer about his HS FB coach Ed Thomas who was tragically killed by a former player. Called Sacred Acre for those interested. Thomas was hugely successful, extremely disciplined and no doubt a big influence on DDV. Knew his brother was an NFL player but guess I forgot that DDV was an outstanding QB and won a couple state championships. Always been a leader. -

General Coach Candidate News
MonteMarcaccini replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Wright would make no sense given the timing of this unless for some reason they let him do the CBS gig thru the tourney. otherwise it would have been announced Monday. he is this search’s version of Billy D minus the horse farm -

McCollum was on with Childers and Neuheisal yesterday. They asked him about the distraction of being considered a candidate for open jobs. He said there was speculation every year and his 4 D2 guys know that they will have his undivided attention. He doesn’t compromise on that. Based on that, if he is the hire, it doesn’t sound like there would be an announcement until his season ends. He is an excellent interview btw
