  1. Again, there are a few college rules I'd chance. First would be the clock stops after a made shot inside one minute for both halves, not just the second half. Seems stupid to me to have a rule apply to only one half of the game.
  2. 80 free throws is not a small sample size. And in 203 career free throw attempts, he's a 77% shooter. He's decent there. Even since Jan 1st when he's struggled a little bit, he's over 70%.
  3. Win or lose, hopefully our guys carry some confidence forward from the perimeter. Shot it well from deep but uncharacteristically not finishing inside.
  4. Again, it's a strategy that isn't used much....but at 24.6 seconds, they are going to take the clock and get the last decent look. Best case: we get a stop and we go to half down 7. Worst case, they hit a two or three and we go in down 9 or 10. Better strategy: foul their worst free throw shooter. He gets a 1 and 1....let's say their worst free throw shooter hits 60%. That's a 40% they get zero points on free throws, 36% chance they get 1, and 24% chance they get 2. In that strategy, worst case is they go up 9 points but we have possession. Best case, we are down 7 and have plenty of time to set up the offense for a final possession.
  5. If Brunk and Smith had just hit their bunnies, its probably a 1 point game.
  6. Big Ten refs never call walks. Period.
  7. That's a killer foul because now they can run the clock down.....went from each team getting a possession to basiclaly just MD. Personally, I just foul their worst free throw shooter and steal a possesion
  8. Probably also will see more Hunter than normal.
  9. Figuring in offensive and defensive efficiency should only be considered in models that are meant to be predictive of future events and not reflective of a team's accomplishments. IMO, seeding is meant to reward results, not measure potential. Winning by 20 one game and losing by 2 should not be rewarded the same as winning two games by 9 points each assuming the opponents were similar in the two sets of games. While the overall efficiency numbers will look similar and may strongly predict that the teams are equal in ability, they do not reflect the simplest of facts......that it is better to go 2-0 than 1-1.
  10. But Scott Drew can kiss my @$$.
  11. Odds are this thread could be changed back to “fire Archie Miller” and then changed back again before the end of the season.
  12. BTW, back in the days before the internet was widely available, I wrote letters to tons of schools asking for a copy of their season stat for a project I was doing (it was a dos based college basketball text sim). Most replied and sent the stats; some sent me their media guides (Notre Dame did). But one coach not only sent me the media guide but took the time to write a hand written letter thanking me for the interest in his program. That coach was Dave Bliss when he was at New Mexico. Fast forward about ten years and he was fired at Baylor when he was embroiled in his disgraceful actions at Baylor. It saddened me because prior to that I had every reason to believe he was a great guy. so I guess I still kind of pull for New Mexico because it brings back a good memory....and typically root against Baylor because actions there tainted an old memory.
  13. U Indy's basketball team having a nice year so far -- 15-4 overall. They beat Loyala in an exhibition to start the year. Last year they beat Valpo in an exhibition and a few years ago they beat Tennessee in an exhibition when Tennessee was ranked in the preseason.
  14. My alma mater, U Indy. Teams personnel other than the team I grew up watching — IU — and the school I attended are the only I have an investment in. Team personnel change so often I don’t have any reason to buy into being nterested in them for anything but a short span.
  15. Anybody seen gradman lately?
  16. In case Izzo doesn’t know, on the road this year EVERYBODY is getting hit with the other team’s best shot.
  17. Izzo confused Franklin with Durham. Before he only referred to our guys by numbers. Now he had the numbers wrong.
  18. Popeye’s spicy chicken is amazing. It has no business being a fast food sandwich.
  19. After losing 6 of 7, Ohio State is #14 on Pom. Purdue is still 8 spots ahead of IU.
  20. I did my part by turning the game off for two minutes when we first fell behind.
  21. Technically, yes. Co-leaders are 6-2. Note of interest is that Michigan State is 6-2 but has only played three road games. IU is 5-3 and has played four road games. Illinois is in really good shape as they are 6-2 and have played 4 road games.
  22. They started 0-8 and then hit 8 of their next nine. Think they actually had a 6 straight streak.
  23. But still behind Ohio State.
  24. I'm sure post game he'll just say they didn't expect that #50 for IU would play so well.
  25. Al's three at the end of the half and three with under two minutes left were really big.
