Think if they review this it might be Purdue ball.
-
Not in the Big Ten.
-
They keep it a three.
-
Think they are going to rule that a two....
-
Tie game.
-
Yep. If they lose, this is on Collins. You can run clock without going into a shell. Northwestern up just 3 now, Northwestern ball, 1:24 left.
-
Northwestern taking their foot off the gas. Horrible offense....Purdue down 5, 1:45, Purdue possession.
-
Northwestern up 8, 4 1/2 minutes to go. Huge possession there by Northwestern as they were lucky to kicked ball at 2 seconds to set the clock back to 20 and then hit a shot with 1 on the shot clock. Ran off 49 seconds and got a bucket.

If Purdue loses, will them move into Pom's top ten?
-
I'm not sure I'd use Auburn and Kentucky as an example of a game where we want to emulate perimeter shooting. IU has made about a dozen more threes than UK and I believe after today is also hitting a higher percentage of threes. Auburn shoots a ton of threes but is shooting 32% from deep.

Do wish Race had been able to go the last couple of games. I really don't like watching De'ron play at this point and miss shot after shot while fouling every few minutes.

I agree.....but I guarantee that coaches second guess themselves as well when things aren't going right. I'd say that the rotation not getting shorter has a heck of a lot to do with no one stepping up in practices and games. I'm not a guy who is going to spout out online about 'what an idiot' a coach is who doesn't start a lineup that I think might work. But I'd rather talk about speculation of the future than continue to wallow in an unsuccessful performance.

Faith is belief in something for which you have no evidence to believe in. Personally, I don't have faith in anything. It's more about level of hope or belief. Personally, I'm still in shock of the end of the Maryland game. Our warts were there before and after it and the last two games were very ugly. But this is a team that should be 16-6 and 6-5 in conference, and even with the ugly losses at Penn State and Ohio State there would be every reason to believe that we are a tournament team. The Maryland game rightly has us very skittish.

I would say that this year, Purdue hasn't shown up to play as often as IU hasn't. I think they have 6 games decided by double digits in the Big Ten -- 3 wins and 3 losses.

Thoughts? IMO, the starts we are getting off to the last three games seems to say that something needs to be shook up. IMO, the biggest culprits right now are Justin Smith and Al Durham. Green plays hero ball....but Durham has been playing zero ball where he's simply not making himself an offensive option. Justin Smith continues to not finish shots at the rim. I think I might looks to start Green in place of Durham and Hunter in place of Smith. Certainly gives us a little better outside shooters. I'm there with everyone that Green's leash has to be short. But right now what is happening is that he doesn't start, he comes in the game and immediately forces the issue, making us fall behind even farther. Right now we are waiting to see if bad or good DeVonte shows up....and if we're already down, bad DeVonte just helps dig a bigger hole. And it seems to me that bringing him off the bench has just furthered his attitude of getting his shots up. I say start him with a short leash rather than bring him off the bench with one. He's certainly not picking up anything from the bench that would help him in the game -- he's not paying that much attention. Durham, on the other hand, at least might take in some of the action and respond better than he has done as a starter. Hunter has definitely been playing better in the last couple of games and might now provide a legitimate shooter from the forward position. Smith isn't, and maybe Smith is a guy who might be better served as well to come in off the bench and bring in energy.

Peyton Ramsey to Northwestern
RaceToTheTop replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Yes, but Ramsey had played with our receivers a lot and certainly had time to develop chemistry and timing with them. Tuttle also had an injury that set him back and really took him out of consideration for the competition -- that pretty much locked him into the third spot, which made sense as Penix pretty much locked up the starting spot. -
You can win with low 4 and 3 stars that aren't just duplicate players of each other. I just don't see a whole lot of complimentary skills on this team. Freaking Purdue last year was one guy surrounded by a ton of role players. And when Carson Edwards wasn't hitting, they played good enough defense to still be in the game.

And we should run an offense that gets the ball inside and then when its outside we should know down three point shots. I guess we just solved our problems, yes?

Peyton Ramsey to Northwestern
RaceToTheTop replied to JaybobHoosier's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
Good call. Just looked and Fresno State had a senior QB last year who was pretty mediocre and only started his senior year. If they had a capable behind him, he would have played some because Fresno went 4-8....but no other QB played any more than garbage time. Ramsey would be Fresno's starter in an offensive system that he knows. They also return their starting receivers and running back. -
Peyton Ramsey to Northwestern

I think that Tuttle is a more than capable back up and that him being behind Ramsey had more to do with Ramsey being around the system much longer. Tuttle was the fourth rated pro-style QB coming out of high school and even if that was an over rated number for him, it's very unlikely that it was way far off. Penix is ulta-talented while Ramsey was very, very consistent and accurate on the throws he was asked to make and while the ceiling wasn't as high when Penix went out, the results didn't change much in terms of W's and L's. That said, Tuttle's arm IS stronger than Ramsey's was. I guess I'd say Tuttle at worst is as good as Lagow, and Lagow went to a bowl game as a junior despite being surrounded by less talent than we have going into next season. -
Trying to see who would be a grad transfer candidate when it's February is a really fruitless endeavor. There will be plenty of guys in the portal, some who could help. Who knows if we are able to attract a shooter. And as Chris has already posted, even guys we want tend to have a tough time getting in because of our admin.
