Hunter and Franklin 3pt shooting
RaceToTheTop replied to Feathery's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I'm just not sure that 37% in high school with the closer line is something we should hang our hat on. I hope he continues to get better but I'm not counting on him being the shooter we need. -
IU used to be appointment television for me. Now I'm not making it past the first half of most games. Fourth game in a row I couldn't stomach watching. Penn State I made three possessions into the second half, the rest I couldn't make to half. Did nothing but watch scoretracker the second half today. It's not worth my time.

For the record, after Crean was hired and before Sampson was hired, the guy I wanted was Greg McDermott. McDermott has had a very good run at Creighton....but I can't ignore that the same year that Sampson was hired at IU, McDermott was hired by Iowa State and he flopped miserably there. There aren't many fool-proof, slam dunk guarantee dynasty hires in D1 basketball. And even fewer that the timeline and money is going to match up. It's why the people who talk about Brad Stephens aren't getting it.

Yeah....I guess I'm not getting the Frank Martin love. I get that he got South Carolina to the final four....which is the only time in the eight years he's been there that they've made the tournament. He's been at Kansas State and South Carolina for thirtteen years and made it past the first game in the tourney twice. If we are looking for someone to have sustained success in terms of tournament appearances year after year and tourney runs on a semi-regular basis, there isn't anything in Martin's history that says he'll do that. He's a good coach, but he's really not the kind of guy we are looking for.

Not sure what you are talking about in terms of that, but it's amazing to think that Emmitt Holt is STILL playing college ball at Providence. First started playing at IU in 2014, transferred in 2015, sat out a year, had a pretty good year in 2016-7 (12 points and 5 1/2 boards per game at Providence), missed all of 2017-8 with an abdominal blockage that almost killed him (he lost 50 pounds in just two months), played in only 6 games in 2018-9. He's now a senior at Providence six years after his freshman year at IU and is a part time starter for the Friars, averaging 6 1/2 points and 4 boards per game.

To be fair, I think some of those guys that transferred in under Sampson would not have allowed to do so under the current administration. That's partly on our administration and partly on where Sampson left the program.

Hunter and Franklin 3pt shooting

I don't think you can read anything into such a small sample space. I'm more comfortable with Hunter's shooting percentage going up than Armaan's because Armaan didn't come in known as a shooter. In terms of the sample space, if just one of Armaan's three point shots in the last five games had taken an unlucky bounce out, he'd be shooting 30% instead of 40%. He's still a guy who has only hit more than one three pointer in a game two times all season. -
He was younger and more innocent then. He was Young Old Acquaintance.

Purdue's string of good and bad performances have shown no rhyme nor reason all season long. A 36 point win or 36 point loss today means nothing for this weekend. They followed their 29 point win against Michigan State with a 7 point loss at Maryland and a 17 point home loss to Illinois and their 19 point win over Wisky was followed with a loss to Rutgers.
