  1. McCaffrey talks **** to Hunter.....Hunter responds...technical on Hunter. Weiskamp runs into Garza....foul on Smith.
  2. "Indisputably not a foul". How can the announcers not even notice that he ran into GARZA???
  3. Garza moving screen....Weiskamp runs into him.....foul on Smith and they look for a flagrant on Smith. Jesus Christ.
  4. Anyone else still incredibly nervous? I sure as hell am.
  5. He's averaged 31 minutes per game. He's played 37 once and 36 twice.
  6. Boils down to where teams think they can use him. He can't guard the 4 in today's NBA level and an awful lot of teams are going to play a 4 in the center spot.
  7. It wasn't good offense on the last possession, but that was a big three by Al. Iowa had a chance to get it to single digits in the last minute and instead goes into half down 15.....despite us missing shots the last five minutes, we're up big. Need Rob to stop turning it over. He has 4 of our 6 turnovers.
  8. Garza is a good, good player. Tough to defend. But if the rest of the guys around him barely break ten points in a half, Iowa's going to struggle. This they lost a game in Michigan when he scored 40.
  9. Really need to get into some transition today. That means getting stops.
  10. Shot in the dark prediction: Armaan Franklin comes up big today.
  11. Very interesting about the line going all the way to 3 1/2. That's basically calling the teams even on a neutral site.
  12. Yeah, I don't see a scenario where we put TJD as the primary defender on him. There's no backup contingency for him going to the bench. I also don't see a scenario where Iowa uses Garza as a primary defender on TJD. Neither team will want to risk fouls. I'd rather have Brunk/Davis/Thompson on Garza pushing hard on him and let the fouls come where they may. Garza's only so so at the line.
  13. I'll take the over on 60 and the under on 35. Bet?
  14. Brunk can't cover Garza, but my fear is that BT officiating will allow Garza to plow into TJD and give Davis the foul.
  15. I feel in my gut that IU wins by 6. Either means instinct or gas.
  16. Correct, continuing to bring in JUCO players is not the path to success...most definitely not a long term sustainable model. That said, in the days of grad transfers being the norm, it's head scratching that a power conference team can't find someone to fit a spot of need like we had in perimeter shooting.
  17. On a basketball message forum, it often gets lost that enrollment has little to do with athletics. Fact is that IU's enrollment is about 50% higher than UK and is over twice the enrollment of Louisville. IU also welcomed its largest freshman class in history this past year.
  18. Lunardi has IU as one of the last four in right now. The harsh reality is that last four in usually means out as some teams have spots taken by tournament conference champions bumping them out.
  19. Even if that were the case, we are two under on scholarships this year. It’s not like the spots weren’t there to add a player or two.
  20. If we go 2-4 over the next 6, that puts us at 7-11 in the Big Ten. I think most people would say 9-11 in the Big Ten gets you in. my fear is that at 7-11 the committee would see us as not in and winning the last two games — Wisky and Minnesota in Bloomington — might not be viewed as games that “push” you in. we likely need 4 more regular season wins to get in. I would say the odds are not in our favor. Starts with Iowa on Thursday. Might have to win out at home because the road games are tough.
  21. I would buy more that the message got sent if the team had responded. They were 3-3 in the conference before that game and ended the year 7-11. They also immediately lost the next game at home to Iowa by 13. They 4-7 in conference after the Illinois game with their four victories coming against three teams that were a combined 13-41 in conference.
  22. I think that ship has sailed. They are career NBA guys in their 60s. Off the top of my head I can't recall any coaches that did that with great success (I'm sure if there are some, people will correct me). Patrick Ewing comes to mind as he was a career NBA guy who is almost 60, but his time so far at Georgetown has been very mediocre. I know Chris Mullin came back to St.John's but he went 59-73 in four years.
  23. Cool, link it up. And if you think all Alford did was hide sexual assault, you have no clue about what happened.
  24. Give him time. He's only had about fifteen years to either explain it away or admit his unethical (if not illegal) acts.
  25. Cool with using a Christian group to pressure a rape victim into not pressing charges. Astounding. **** Steve Alford.
