THIS is what upsets me so much. Seeing competent athletic departments do what they knew they had to without hesitation. IU - we hire and KEEP a failed NBA coach with zero college experience purely bc he played here 40 years ago and had his feelings hurt when we hired Archie. It's sickening.

Nebraska wants it. We look like we could care less. Woody - they're shutting Ware down. Do something other than trying to feed him the ball inside. It isn't working. It's leading to turnovers and easy points/threes for Nebraska.

The bold is what is driving so many fans insane when it comes to Woody as you'd think this would be the criteria for any basketball coach hire at IU - someone with a proven track record. If that's what the BOT looks for, then why was Mike Woodson even on the list of candidates? He's lost his job everywhere he's been, has a below average record in the NBA, zero college coaching experience, and no one else wanted him - so why did we hire him? It's infuriating.

I also said I fully appreciate the players defending their coach but that doesn't give him the right to attack the fans - the people that feed him. It's unacceptable when the coach does it and it's unacceptable when a player does too. Life is hard, Anthony. Sometimes, especially when you aren't playing well, the fans are going to let you hear it. Take that criticism and get better, not angry or defensive. You end up going down a path that is hard to turn around on. Now they have to back it up on the court. Something I'm not certain they can do.

As someone who owns 3 businesses built from the ground up, now with over 40 employees - I fully EXPECT my employees to tell me when I'm doing a **** job or making **** decisions. I welcome it. You can't succeed in this life if you can't handle criticism. In fact, we have meetings on Monday and Friday to do this very thing - criticize and brainstorm how the week went and go over the **** decisions I made (I make a lot of them). If I ever acted like Mike Woodson and blamed our customers (the way he blames fans), I'd expect to be put out of business within 24 hours. You don't attack those that feed you. You can handle criticism by either: 1) listening and realizing you could be better and adapt 2 ) getting defensive and assigning blame elsewhere Woodson chooses #2 every single opportunity he gets including tonight during his speech. Woodson is a punk and Anthony Leal is right behind him. I fully appreciate the players defending their coach (everyone who ever played for him, including Carmelo Anthony, loves Woody) but what has he actually won as a coach? NOTHING. To come after the fans - the man is destroying his legacy. He's now put himself in a position where it's win or **** off and blame someone else for sucking at your job. What a loser. This is why Woody will, IMO, never succeed in a massive way as a coach.

I guess I'm not sure what you mean? Is there anything to misread regarding the Hysterics and Woody/his team? It's all rumors which is why I said, "if". I will easily admit I have no idea what happened there, if anything.

I can't believe some are still blaming the fans. That is total and complete BS. Well, sort of. The fans saying things was clearly just the last straw for someone who, IMO, was likely to de-commit anyway given the piss poor trajectory of our program. Wherever this kid goes in his career - college, NBA, G-League, abroad, you name it - there are going to be people criticizing him and saying negative things directed straight at him. When he's a pro you can't just run to mommy and daddy and say I don't want to play here, the fans are mean. Life isn't all sunshine and rainbows - suck it up. Now, I don't think the way some fans act helps at all but it certainly isn't the reason Liam de-committed and isn't the reason we don't have a big name coach - that's total BS. I personally don't think we've ever really tried outside of Brad Stevens who was a long shot to begin with. It's rare coaches come back from the NBA, outside of Woody and that should also tell you something (no one in the NBA wants him either). Liam will make money wherever he goes - fact - so we can't say KU or wherever he goes just threw more money at him. But if you were Liam and had the chance to make high six figures at IU and probably not go to the tournament, have no idea who you're going to be playing with, and play for a coach with an outdated style or Bill Self @ KU making the same amount of $$$ (if not more) and compete for a National Championship, be more in the National spotlight, etc - where are you going? The decision he made was easy and it was the right one. Blaming the fans is a BS excuse and if Woody and his team actually fed that crap to HH or anyone else in the media, WTF, man? It's like he wants to go to war with the fans bc we're calling him out for his poor leadership and failure to carve a path to a consistent winner/title contender - that's ALL we want and have wanted for decades. We're pissed and if nothing changes, we'll be getting more of the same mediocrity. The fans being pissed is totally warranted - we deserve better. But taking to instagram and littering a kid's posts with negative comments - yeah - that crap needs to stop.
