I hear you and I didn't mean fire him the second he doesn't make a tournament but rather why are we sitting here acting like simply making the tournament is accomplishing something beyond what is expected? I find it in the same category as Tom Crean handing out S16 rings. Making the tournament should be an expectation, not a bonus. It's a good thing to expect more out of our program and I do.

The last sentence couldn't be more true if all the reports we're hearing are accurate. Even if he has a solid portal season this year and we make the tournament next year and say the Sweet 16 - a solid year no doubt - but then he's going to have to do it all over again for the following year - that's my problem with Woodson. The chances of consistent success are just so small, imo.

Exactly! Why are so many fans SOOOO content with just making the tournament. I realize we're not a Blue Blood program anymore but we're also not Minnesota. Mike Woodson screams mediocrity in every aspect and has for his entire career as a coach. If you can't tell, I'm still very pissed from this decision.

We're just tired of the constant acceptance of mediocrity. Zoom out and look at the whole situation, then re-read what you wrote. Woodson, in year 4 as head coach at IU, makes the tournament and that should be celebrated or claimed to be progress? As fans we expect IU to not only make the tournament but be a top seed - EVERY. SINGLE. YEAR. Why are we all of a sudden happy with "making the tournament"? I'm sure as hell not, that should be a f'ing requirement at IU. Even our fans have become weak just like our admin. We deserve better.

Fire Woody

Money poorly spent if they did. Maybe one more year for maybe a first round exit if that followed by an extension? So excited for next year and the future....this sucks

My issue here is they must have also given Woody more than a year guaranteed. It's unrealistic to expect him to turn this around in one portal. That's why us, fans that are clearly smarter than the big money and admin, want him gone. This all just seems like a waste of time and money when the inevitable is Woody being fired. If Scott had a coach lined up to improve the program, the call should have been made.

Thank you for your info! Keeping someone employed simply because he is "well liked" is the overall problem we have within our administration. They just don't seem to be able to make the decisions I think they know they need to out of fear it'll hurt someone's feelings. Operating from a place of fear is how other programs overtake you and that's what's been happening at IU. We're weak. Not saying we need new leadership, but we need new leadership. I'm glad to hear Dolson at least understands the problem, he's just handcuffed and that's what pisses me off. If Scott wants to win (I'm positive he does) and sees a way to get us there (Pearl, May, whomever), he should have the freedom to make that move. That's his job. Why do we even have an AD if they don't trust him to make decisions? I really hope keeping him isn't some sort of a year-by-year evaluation. That would be a nightmare. Meaning if he makes the tourney next year, he gets another. And so on. Our admin seems dumb enough to go with something like that.

I live in Chicago and totally agree. But there is no reason to continue to be loyal to these clowns. The IU admin just gave the fan base a giant middle finger saying they don't give a rats @$$ about us. The only voice we have is to remove our presence.

This sucks. Booing and writing emails is great and all but if you really want to show our gutless admin how unacceptable this is you have to stop going to the games, buying merchandise, renewing season tix, etc. There's no other way. We deserve so much better than this and it isn't even funny. What a f'ing joke IU Men's Basketball has become. Absolutely pathetic.
