Sometimes I feel kind of bad for the Purdue fans' who've been perpetually disappointed by their teams shortcomings. Then I check in on their forum and have to relish in their frustrations.

Yep, thus far he's really lived up to his billing. Injuries are probably the biggest factor in thwarting a team's success. I'm sure we all wish DG a quick and complete recovery - just as we do with our multiple "walking wounded".

A very good question and a play that illustrates difference in how the whistles were being blown against the two teams. Their big guy was absolutely dominant, but at least twice our guys were in danger of getting a concussion after he blocked their shots - in fact I wonder if that contributed to Smith's shaky play (he got blocked early in the game including getting smashed in the head). All that said, I wish we had that guy on our team. Count me in the camp that has no problem with our last possession. Rob probably makes that layup most of the time. There was a play earlier in the second half that showed how advanced he is as a freshman point guard playing the third game of his career: he drove into the lane and passed up the shot, a play we ultimately scored on. On that play most of our guys would have been called for a charge or had their shot blocked. He certainly had some bad plays but I have no doubt he'll learn from it and those errors. While the freshmen got rattled at times, I'm more disappointed that our sophs were just as bad. -

The coaching probably learned a LOT from this game but the film session will probably be brutal. They and the players will learn more from this loss than a cupcake win. -

On the rebound at the Ark end he he absolutely was fouled by the player going over his back - that's what made that deciding foul so maddening for sure. -

Good learning experience for the young guys, a lot to work on but getting used to winning on the road is high on the list. -

So far this season, I can't argue with that. -

The new players are seeing what road games are like and the sophs are being reminded. Even with our shaky play, we can win this game if we can avoid further foul trouble, guard the 3 better, and avoid foolish mistakes (including jacking up shots from 5 feet beyond the arc). -

Not going to beat any good teams when your best & most experienced player is sitting. on the bench with foul trouble. -

Can't get into foul trouble when we're already short-handed, especially on the road. -

Really, it's best if Arkansas (and other road games) is a hostile environment. The young players need to learn how to deal with it before BT play. I think we're going to be pretty good and other conference teams and crowds are going to be "up" for us. -

Agree. Having Durham and Phin play steady and solid at the point will really pave the way to success. -

Several players out, foul trouble yet still flirting with triple digit points. Not bad at all. -

I have to wonder if the staff has put themselves (or allowed themselves to be put) in a "pickle". Pretty much all the eggs are in the TJD & KBJ baskets. I'm not sure if there are alternate plans in place or what ever, but the potential is there for a lackluster recruiting class when a blockbuster was expected. I still have confidence in Archie and the staff and look forward to seeing how things work out. However things transpire, the season has begun and the focus needs to be on the players wearing C&C, not on teenagers just " enjoying the process" of recruiting. -
Good article that confirms some of the pro's and con's of the proposal. I thought M. Hurt's dad had an interesting comment about what he was going to study in college (basketball).
